Starts 12pm ET Today: FREE to Watch Canon 6D II Fast Start Online Class

Starting at 12pm eastern today (Monday 10/30/17), you can watch LIVE and for FREE the world premiere (it is recording LIVE) of the John Greengo Canon EOS 6D Mark II Fast Start class. You can watch it for free while it is recording. If you want to watch it in future dates, you can purchase it for a pre-order special of $34 or wait for a future free re-airing.

Friday FREE to Watch ReBroadcast: Lightroom CC for the Professional Photographer

If you missed the world premiere of this class on Wednesday, fear not! Creative LIVE is re-running this class online and for FREE until Saturday 11:50am ET. This calls being Jared Platt’s Lightroom CC for Professional Photographers.

It consists of 14 video lessons, the transcript of some of them is available under the “Class Materials” sub-tab. During this promotional window, if you like this class well enough to want to watch it in the future, you can purchase it for a one-time $39 price.

Prime Reading for FREE: Shutterbug and CR November 2017 e-issues

If you are a Prime member, one of the Prime Benefits is the Prime Reading program that lets you read for free from a list of roughly 1000 ebooks. You can read as much as you like but you can only have ten items checked out at any one time, so if you are getting close to ten, some strategy may be needed – mix some quick reads with some long-running reads so you are not out of picks. But even if you are, you can return something and re-borrow it again a few days later [assuming it doesn’t leave].

One of the lesser known benefits of Prime Reading is that single issues of magazines are also available. Among the latest additions, of potential photography interest, they have:

+ Shutterbug (November 2017)

+ Consumer Reports (November 2017)

+ and the usual “six degrees of separation” from photography: fashion, sports, nature, etc

As with all Netflix-style services, you can only read as long as you are a paying member. If you cancel the Prime membership, or return a book/magazine, you can no longer read it. However, there is no time limit on how long you can keep it checked out. I’ve found things I had checked out for over a year. No late library fees here 🙂

When logged in to your account, each magazine tells you which devices (in your account) it can be read from. For magazines, it is typically iOS and Android only, so the biggest reading screens you can get are probably iPad PROs and 2-in-1 Chromebooks with Google Play. Or that giant old 18.4″ Samsung Galaxy View.

Ten FREE 4×6″ photo prints at CVS on next T-Mobile Tuesday

If you are a T-Mobile customer, you are automatically eligible to get some “freebies” every Tuesday as part of their “T-Mobile Tuesdays” magenta overload program.

For Tuesday October 3 in 2017, one of the freebies are ten 4×6 inch photo prints at CVS. The offer is only good for store pickup, you have to be physically near a CVS stores, or have the orders print near someone else you know that can pick them up.

The offers are typically per line, not per account, so if you have more than one T-Mobile line on your account, you may be able to get multiple freebies. I think this is the first time they offer CVS photo print freebies, so I don’t think it is known how the mechanics of the offer work.

All apologies, because of technical difficulties I couldn’t post it early in the AM! Running now until Wednesday 11:50am ET is another John Greego “Fast Track” camera class, this one focused on the Sony a9. The class is FREE to Watch during this promotional period.

After the free-viewing period ends, if you want to watch it again, you have to either purchase it or waiting for a future free-viewing promotion.

FREE (Google PLAY): Fast Camera HD Camera

If you are part of the Google PLAY ecosystem, for a limited time, the premium (for pay) app Fast Camera – HD Camera is FREE to own. It typically goes for $1.99. The developer makes three versions of this app, this is their most advanced app that is free for a limited time.

Speaking of app stores, one of the Apple announcements that flew under the radar, starting with the new iTunes version 12.7, the App Store will be removed from the desktop iTunes software. If you used that to manage or download apps (eg your iOS device wasn’t compatible with an app, but wanted to grab it for the future because it was free or it was on sale), make sure you keep one iTunes installation at a previous version.

Free camera app for iOS users! The 8mm Vintage Camera app by Nexvio is currently FREE to get on iTunes. Previously it went for $2. Some features however are only available via in-app purchase (99c themes). This requires iOS 8.0 and later.

If you have an older device or don’t have an iOS device now, but you may be getting one in the future, you can still grab the app for future use. You obviously can’t get it from a non-existent iOS device, but you can grab it using iTunes for Windows ~ if you are willing to run that Beast 🙂
