Learning to count is the sale price of the new condition Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2 Lens for Sony E Mount lens, it currently goes for $1234 with free shipping and 4% promotional rewards (around $49 in future purchases) at Adorama and B&H Photo for a limited time.
UPDATE but that’s not all! A total of eight Zeiss E-mount lenses are on sale, you can see them all and their prices at B&H Photo including Batis and Loxia lenses with prices ranging from $899 to $1899.
The sale of the new condition is also good news if you are interested in buying USED lenses from reputable dealers. The used version of the Zeiss 135mm f/2 Apo Sonnar T* ZE (Canon EF) is available for as low as $900 with free shipping in USED Condition 8+ at B&H Photo.
If you are not familiar with B&H Used pages, each individual listing page has detailed on the Condition, and further down the page, on the right side, under “In The Box” shows what’s included. Here’s an example, the aforementioned lens. Used items sold by B&H come with a 90-day warranty covered by B&H (not the manufacturer). Given some spotty service by some manufacturers on some products, this may actually be a plus 🙂
PS: the Nikon version is nowhere near as low, it starts at $1200+…
This was on sale for $1499 last week, but if you are a Canon EF shooter, we have an even bigger discount for you! The Zeiss 135mm f/2 Apo Sonnar T* ZE Lens is down to $1299 with free expedited shipping (you don’t want a four-figure lens bouncing around in slow shipping) at B&H Photo along with 4% promotional rewards (around $52 to spend in the future at B&H). This is a limited time offer.
The Nikon F (ZF.2) remains at $1499.
If you are comfortable with used lenses, and don’t want to pay $1499 for the new condition, fear not, B&H Photo also has used options for you. The Zeiss 135mm f2 Sonnar T* in the Canon EF mount (ZE) is available in “USED – Condition 8+” for $1100 at B&H Photo, while the prices start at $1200 in “USED – Condition 9” in the Nikon F mount (ZF.2).
Used items carry a 90-day warranty covered by B&H Photo. For all their used options, look under the “In The Box” section (right hand side, further down the page over there) to see what’s included.
As usual, it is up to you to decide where to draw the price vs risk lines on new vs refurbished vs used.

Twit? Tweet? Touit? We’ll stick with Touit in this post, where a $700 mail-in rebate (prepaid gift card) makes the Zeiss Touit 3-Prime Fuji X bundle a $1318 after MIR offer. You pay $2018 at checkout. The rebate offer runs March 7 until June 30 in 2016. The three lenses are the 12mm f2.8, 32mm f1.8, and 50mm f2.8. Adorama also includes three lens filters, three lenscap leashes and three cleaning kits. Note however that the kit is currently in “temporarily on backorder”.
If you like Touit lenses and the Fuji X system and don’t mind mail-in rebates and prepaid gift cards, the X-System trio of Zeiss Touit lenses (12/2.8, 32/1.8, 50/2.8) is bundled together for $2018 after a $700 mail-in rebate (prepaid gift card) at Adorama (with free filters and cleaning kits).
NOTE #1: this is currently “Temporarily On Backorder”, there is no shipping estimate
NOTE #2: the PDF of the rebate form (available at the aforelinked page) says that your rebate form must be postmarked within 30 days of purchase. Since the shipment date is an unknown, if you are planning to do the mail-in rebate, you may want to wait until it is back in-stock before buying it!
NOTE #3: the PDF rebate says “prepaid gift card” but does not specify which one. VISA? Mastercard? AMEX? Store Gift Card? It certainly won’t be a cashable check.

These have been added to the growing list of New Lenses in 2015 tracking page.
The grey market (imported cameras without manufacturer’s USA warranty) party continues at the eBay Deals, this time it is Get It Digital (99.7%) offering the new condition imported grey-market Sony Zeiss 55m f1.8 FE Sonnar T* lens for the E-mount offered for $740 with free shipping with a limit of five per customer. It comes with a three year warranty from Get It Digital, not Sony USA. Over 500 units sold so far from this eBay listing.
The warranty is described in the eBay listing as:
At authorized USA dealers, in new condition, this lens goes for $900, at well-respected retailers such as Adorama (lots of free lens accessories) and B&H Photo and Amazonia.
PS: if you are having a bit of a deja vu, it’s because last week we also mentioned a different grey-market imported Sony-Zeiss lens, the Sony T* E 16-70 F4 ZA OSS lens (aka SEL1670Z) which went (and still goes) for $700, also from Get It Digital.
One of the further-down-the-page eBay Deals is the new condition imported grey-market Sony T* E 16-70 F4 ZA OSS lens (aka SEL1670Z) offered for $700 with free shipping and a three year warranty from the seller GetItDigital (99.7%) with a limit of five per customer. This does not come with a Sony USA warranty. Offer ends by 8/24/15.
This lens goes for $900 at authorized Sony retailers such as B&H Photo (4% rewards = $36~) and Amazon and Adorama (six free accessories).
For Canon and Nikon manual focus lens fans, B&H Photo is offering the Zeiss 50mm f1.4 Planar T* for $525 with free expedited shipping and 4% promotional rewards (= $20~).
Rumors of Zeiss hiring Vanilla Ice for a new “Zeiss Zeiss Baby” TV commercial are completely unfounded, but founded in your wallet is a new sale on the Zeiss 85mm f1.4 Planar T* manual focus lens for Canon and Nikon DSLRs for $983 with free shipping and 4% promotional rewards (= almost $40) at B&H Photo.
To celebrate its 125 year anniversary, Zeiss has a sale on some of their SLR lenses, more specifically 12 ZE (Canon) and 14 ZF (Nikon) lenses are on sale plus they earn 4% promotional rewards at B&H Photo. The promotion ends by 7/31/15. Given the prices of most Zeiss lenses, the 4% promotional rewards are a very decent amount, for example, a $2000 lens gets you an $80 reward!
While we are patiently waiting for Vanilla Ice to be hired to perform “Zeiss Zeiss Baby”, there is a new round Zeiss SLR (Canon, Nikon) instant savings promotions featuring a total of 25 lenses. These also earn 2% promotional rewards, which are not small change considering the premium price nature of Zeiss lenses. You can see all 25 options at B&H Photo.
The new gear party is not over yet. Sony full frame A-mount photographers must needs hide their wallets! Sony announced two new professional f2.8 lenses. The 24-70mm f2.8 ZA SSM II VS T* for $2100, and the Sony 16-35mm f2.8 ZA SSM II VS T* for $2250. The shipping estimate is mid-June 2015. (VS as in Vario-Sonnar).
UPDATE: they are also available for pre-order at Adorama.
The new hit single by Vanilla Ice is “Zeiss Zeiss baby” 😉 Now that you can’t un-hear that line, Zeiss announced two new lenses in the Batis line, that continue the computerization trend of camera gear, they have a built-in OLED display on the lens barrel that show important lens-y information for the photographer.
The first two lenses in the line are for the Sony NEX e-mount and they are available for pre-order as follows:
+ 25mm f2 Batis E-mount for $1300 at Adorama and B&H Photo
+ 85mm f1.8 Batis E-mount for $1200 at Adorama and B&H Photo
