With taxes finally done (don’t forget, Tuesday is the deadline for both the 2016 Tax Year and the first quarterly payment estimate for 2017), it is time to focus (pun intended) on the Stock Status Tracker. The bad news first, the Panasonic GH5 is out of stock at all the retailers I checked. The rest of the cameras tracked are good news for availability (bad news for your tax refund and/or wallet).
The Fuji X-T2 body only is back in-stock at Amazon by Amazon itself and a couple of 3rd-party sellers over there. The Prime-only restrictions are only for items sold and shipped by Amazon itself. 3rd-party sellers are happy to sell to anyone and everyone willing to pay 🙂 It is also in-stock at B&H Photo but note that orders will ship April 19+ even if you select overnight shipping!
The Canon 77D has been steadily in-stock every time I checked, the BuyDig bundle with a handful of accessories (3rd-party flash, converter lenses, filters ,bag, 64GB card, remote, and the usual assortment of trinkets (card reader, cleaning kit, microfiber cloth, air blower) included for the same price of $900.
Multiple Olympus E-M1 II Options
The Olympus E-M1 II body continues to go for $2000 at authorized dealers with stackable Combined Purchase Lens Discounts but there are some opportunities for discounting if you don’t need the stackable offer:
+ USED (Demo Condition) for $1859 + S&H at Adorama
+ USED (Like New Condition) for $1879 by Cardinal (via Amazon)
+ NOTE: ignore/AVOID those “Just Launched” sellers at Amazon that offer it for less. They are trolling/phishing for customer/financial data
+ NEW CONDITION but you can negotiate using eBay’s Built-In and Blessed “Best Offer” process by Pixel Connection (starting price is $2000)
Another update of the Stock Status Tracker has the first wave of free accessories bundled with the Panasonic GH5 body only at its normal price of $2000 with free shipping. PS: if you find these stock alerts/updates useful, please consider making your new camera gear purchases through our affiliate links – it is the main method of funding this poor old blog!
Cameta Camera offers a Precision Design DSLR350 High Power Auto Flash, 64GB Transced SDXC card, extra battery, flex 12″ tripod, camera bag, 1-year Outdoor Photographer subscription, free York Photo prints, and a few trinkety items.
Ritz Camera offers no flash, but has a 72-inch Polaroid monopod, extra charger, 64GB Transcend SDXC, Ritz camera bag, and a few trinkety items.
Meanwhile, if you have Amazon gift cards or if you are an Amazon fan, the camera is now in-stock over there as well, may ship in “1-2 days” with a limit of up to three per customer. Per the page over there, it is currently the Best Selling Mirrorless Camera. Remember, if you are a Prime member and pay with a Prime Store credit card or the Amazon Chase VISA credit card, you get 5% back as statement credit or cashback, that’s $100~ in the case of this camera, no small change 🙂
Another update of the Stock Status Tracker has two new updates on the Panasonic GH5 and Fuji X-T2 front!
On the Panasonic GH5 front, the body only kit is bundled with a dizzying variety of extra small accessories for $2100 with free shipping by BuyDig on eBay: a Vivitar flash, Vivitar battery and charger, Vivitar bag, Corel Paintshop PRO X8 software, 64GB Lexar SDXC 300x card, spider tripod, and cables and cleaning supplies.
On the Fuji X-T2 front, the Graphite Body Only is available for $1665 in “Used – Like New” condition by Amazon Warehouse Deals itself, Amazon’s own used products persona. They even have two pictures of the actual item.
As usual, supplies of both used and high-demand new products are limited, so it may be sold out by the time you read this.
It’s almost time, the official release estimate for the Panasonic GH5 is March 30 (2017), so I just added to the Stock Status Tracker. It is currently available for pre-order for its starting price of $2000 at Amazon itself (March 30) and Adorama and B&H Photo. You can also dive into the Wild West of eBay.
We just updated the Stock Status Tracker and as of this update, the following camera kits are in-stock:
+ Olympus E-M1 II body for $2000 by Wolfe Camera via Amazon
+ Fuji X-T2 body only for $1600 by Amazon itself
+ Fuji X-T2 with 18-55 for $1900 by Amazon itself
If you are comfortable with used cameras, the Fuji X-T2 body only is available in “Used – Like New” condition for $1479 by Amazon Warehouse Deals.
I just updated the Stock Status Tracker and the current situation is this: the Fuji X-T2 is not currently in-stock but a variety of 3rd-party sellers have the Olympus E-M1 II body only in-stock-ish for its normal price of $2000 through Amazon.
The previously mentioned eBay auction closed at $1550 with 15 bids. As to the current situation, I just updated the Stocks Status Tracker and the situation is this:
+ Olympus E-M1 II body in-stock with a $100
$200 premium ($2100 $2200 instead of $2000) by Cardinal thru Amazon
+ this is one of the issues with MAP; online retailers are not effectively allowed to sell for less than MAP, but the sky is the limit on how high the price can go. If you are going to limit how low the price can get, it’s only fair to also limit how high it can go 🙂
+ this sold out again:
used Fuji X-T2 with 18-55 with a 3-year warranty for $1939 by Cardinal Photo thru Amazon
I just updated the Stock Status Tracker. On the Fuji X-T2 body, an eBay Auction is currently in progress with a current price of $1250 and 6 bids but the auction ends on Tuesday at 12:42pm eastern, which is an eternity for auctions. This is described as “New Other” with the original box not included. This is by an individual eBay seller with 100% feedback.
Meanwhile the Olympus E-M1 II body only is on track for a December 12 release, with pre-orders accepted at Amazon and B&H Photo and Adorama.
I just updated the Stock Status Tracker and it looks like the Olympus E-M1 II estimate is shifting deeper into December, it went from December 2 to 12 at two of the three retailers tracked. Amazon remains December 2nd but it’s possible that they haven’t updated their website with the new info yet, but Amazon is often slightly behind the specialty retailers in time-sensitive updates of this nature.
We just updated the Stocks Status Tracker and the situation is split. The Panasonic G85 and Sony RX100 V are steadily in-stock at their normal prices at multiple authorized dealers, while the Fuji X-T2 is out of stock (well-known dealers have the body only for $1900 to $2000 though; its regular price is $1600). The Olympus E-M1 II is scheduled for a December 2nd release.
We just updated the Stock Status Tracker and have these latest developments:
+ more Panasonic G85 inventory, the G85 w/12-60mm is in-stock for $1000 by B&H Photo and 3rd-parties thru Amazon
+ both Fuji X-T2 kits are in-stock HOWEVER the offering retailers ask for $300 more on the body-only and $100 more the w/18-55 kit
+ the Sony RX100 V is steadily in-stock everywhere and has been moved to the bottom of the Stock Status Tracker
We just added the Panasonic G85 (not to be confused with the GX85) to the Stock Status Tracker. Two retailers, Amazon and Adorama plan to have it in-stock on October 25. It is available in two options, body only for $900, bundled with the 12-60 for $1000… Meanwhile the Fuji X-T2 remains out of stock, but Amazon’s floating estimate has narrowed a bit to “2 to 4 weeks” instead of “1 to 2 months”… Meanwhile, in between meanwhile statements, the $1000 Sony RX100 V has an October 28 release estimate at Amazon and B&H Photo…
Changes at the Stock Status Tracker, both Canon 5D Mark IV and G7 X II have been steadily in-stock so they have been archived from the Stock Tracker. New cameras (from the pool of currently unreleased ones) will be added soon… Meanwhile the Fuji X-T2 continues to be elusive at the moment… Regardless, if a camera happens to run out of stock in the future, I will re-add it to the Stock Tracker…
PS: is anyone interested in a separate version of the Stock Tracker that has the Archived Cameras for reference? The Archived version would NOT be updated though.
We just updated the Stock Status Tracker and the situation is this for the tracked cameras:
- Fuji X-T2: out of stock everywhere I checked
- Canon G7 X II: in-stock both as standard kit for $700 or bundled with the 1TB CS100 for $769 (Adorama)
- Canon 5D Mark IV Body Only: in-stock steadily now at multiple retailers, it just came in-stock at Amazon by Amazon itself with a limit of three per customer
The Stock Status Tracker has just been updated. There was one Fuji X-T2 when I did the update, but by the time I wrote an alert-post here, it got scooped up (for reference, this is the now sold-out listing).
For some reason PopFlash lists their X-T2 cameras one at a time instead of all of them at once, so they may list more (if they have more). This pre-filled eBay search query searches for Fujifilm Cameras only in their eBay store.
Price-wise this kit is the same as buying the items separately, the X-T2 body only goes for $1600 on its own, while the VPB-XT2 Battery Grip goes for $329 on its own. The only difference is that they charge shipping and handling.
I just updated the Stock Status Tracker and as of this update, the Fuji X-T2 remains out of stock at the places we track, while the Canon G7X II and 5D Mark IV remain in-stock at a rotating list of retailers. As of this update, Amazon itself has the Canon 5D Mark IV body only in-stock for $3500 with a limit of three units per customer. The Sony RX10 III has been retired from tracking since it has been in-stock steadily for many days in a row.
As of a 9/17/16 1:27pm ET update of the Stock Status Tracker, all Fuji X-T2 kits are out of stock, while the Canon 5D Mark IV and G7 X II remain at multiple retailers. Meanwhile the Sony RX10 III remained in-stock steadily for many days in a row, so it has now been removed from the Tracker…
With this latest Stock Status update, we have more Canon 5D Mark IV options, including the body only option now in-stock with free 2-day shipping for $3500 at Adorama. Meanwhile the Fuji X-T2 is going in the other direction, the only in-stock option as of this update is the X-T2 body only by Unique Photo via Amazon for $1600.
I just updated the Stock Status Tracker and the situation as of this update is this: the Fuji X-T2 kits are now out of stock, Pop.Flash ran out of their one-at-a-time inventory. The Sony RX10 III is now steadily in-stock, so it will probably get removed from the Stock Status Tracker. The Canon 5D Mark IV remains in-stock on eBay at authorized dealers as body only, and at many more places in the $4400 w/24-70mm kit. The 24-105 kit has a late October release estimate. Last but not least, the Canon G7 X II is now in-stock at Adorama with free overnight shipping.
It took me over a month *sigh* but the Stock Status Tracker is finally reloaded with newer cameras that are not, as of the time of writing, in-stock at the major retailers we track. The new cameras are *drum roll*, the Fuji X-T2, the Sony RX10 III, and the Canon G7 X II and 5D Mark IV.
All four of the previously tracked cameras are now steadily in-stock at their normal prices at multiple retailers, so they have been retired from the Tracker (Pentax K-1, Nikon D5 and D500, Canon 1D X II). You can see all the retired cameras at the bottom of the Stock Status Tracker.
We just updated the Stock Status Tracker and the situation remains good for photographers looking for the Pentax K-1, Nikon D500 and Canon 1D X II official kits. All of them are in-stock at their normal prices at multiple authorized dealers.
Since these are now steadily available, they will be removed from the Stock Status tracker and get replaced with new currently-unreleased cameras. If you would like us to add specific cameras to the Tracker, please let us know in the Comments or Online Contact Form or Twitter. As a refresher, these are the Interesting Cameras of 2016.
Mission accomplished for the current set of cameras tracked at the Stock Status Tracker. All camera kits tracked, the Pentax K-1 body, both Nikon D500 kits and both Canon 1D X II kits are currently in-stock and ready to ship, at their normal prices, from at least one authorized dealer each.
So it is time to start thinking of which next group of unreleased cameras to start tracking. If there are any cameras you want us to track, please leave a comment or use the online contact form.
After a week of letting it breathe, we just updated the Stock Status Tracker and we have good news, all the cameras tracked are in-stock at their regular prices at at-least one authorized dealer!
The Canon 1D X II body only kits are back in-stock finally, both going for $6000. The C-FAST kit (which includes a memory card and card reader on top of the standard DSLR kit) is in-stock at Adorama, while Amazon itself expects it to arrive July 8-ish. Meanwhile the standard 1D X II body only kit (no CFAST extras) is in-stock at Amazon itself.
The Nikon D500 body only continues to be in-stock for $2000, but it’s now trying to be usurped by the Nikon D500 with 16-80mm kit, dropping from the crazy price of $3067 to the more realistic price of $2567, at Amazon and Adorama and B&H Photo.
Meanwhile the K-Unicorn, the first full frame Pentax 35mm DSLR remains in-stock for $1800 at Amazon itself and Focus Camera and Adorama.
We just updated the Stock Status Tracker and the Pentax K-1, Nikon D500 body only, and Canon 1D X II kits continue to be out of stock. The only one of the tracked cameras that is currently in-stock is the Nikon D500 with the 16-80mm lens kit.
We just updated the Stock Status Tracker and this update is an out of stock cycle, both the Pentax K-1 and the Nikon D500 body onlies are out of stock at their regular prices of $1800 and $2000 respectively.
As of a 6/15/16 at 5:39pm ET recheck, this sold out… For future updates check the Stock Status Tracker…
