If you are interested in either “Digital Photo PRO” or “Videomaker”, this is a good weekend to buy them through the DiscountMags weekend sale ending on Monday night. The theme of this weekend is $5 per magazine per year. Both of those typically go for more than $5.
Two more photography magazines are at their “regular” sale price of $5 per magazine per year: “Outdoor Photographer” and “Digital Photo” (not PRO). The usual assortment of “six degrees of photographic separation” magazines are available, such as fashion, sports, nature, tech (eg Wired), Bridal Guide, Martha Stewart Weddings, and more.
These are printed magazines delivered glossily to US addresses. If a magazine is a digital offer, it says so in its box and mentions it is delivered by Zinio.
As usual, you can sign up for up to three years per magazine. These are good for new subscribers, existing subscribers renewing, or gifts for other people.
If you are a Prime member, one of the Prime Benefits is the Prime Reading program that lets you read for free from a list of roughly 1000 ebooks. You can read as much as you like but you can only have ten items checked out at any one time, so if you are getting close to ten, some strategy may be needed – mix some quick reads with some long-running reads so you are not out of picks. But even if you are, you can return something and re-borrow it again a few days later [assuming it doesn’t leave].
One of the lesser known benefits of Prime Reading is that single issues of magazines are also available. Among the latest additions, of potential photography interest, they have:
+ Shutterbug (November 2017)
+ Consumer Reports (November 2017)
+ and the usual “six degrees of separation” from photography: fashion, sports, nature, etc
As with all Netflix-style services, you can only read as long as you are a paying member. If you cancel the Prime membership, or return a book/magazine, you can no longer read it. However, there is no time limit on how long you can keep it checked out. I’ve found things I had checked out for over a year. No late library fees here 🙂
When logged in to your account, each magazine tells you which devices (in your account) it can be read from. For magazines, it is typically iOS and Android only, so the biggest reading screens you can get are probably iPad PROs and 2-in-1 Chromebooks with Google Play. Or that giant old 18.4″ Samsung Galaxy View.
If you are a Prime member, one of the many Prime Benefits is a feature called Prime Reading which allows you to borrow ebooks, audiobooks, and e-magazines and read them for free. Among the latest Magazines added there you can borrow:
+ Shutterbug October 2017 issue
+ National Geographic September 2017 issue
+ Apple magazine, iPhone X (September 15 issue)
+ and various six degrees of separation (from photography) magazines
The Labor Day weekend sale at Discount Mags includes four photo and video printed magazines delivered to your door by mail:
+ Digital Photo for $4.61 per year
+ Outdoor Photographer for $4.88 per year
+ Videomaker for $6.63 per year
+ Digital Photo PRO for $7.64 per year
Of photography interest in this week’s Discount Mags weekend sale they have a 1-year subscription to the print edition of “Outdoor Photographer” for $5 per year, and $7 per year for the print edition of “Digital Photo Pro”. This is good for new or renewal or gift subscriptions. You can sign up from 1-3 years per magazine. Offer ends Monday night.
This weekend’s theme at Discount Mags is a bundle promotion. You select three magazines from the available options and pay $12 total for a 1-year subscription. You can select a duration for the bundle (not individually) for 1 or 2 or 3 years at $12 per year for the whole bundle.
There are four photography magazines participating: Digital Photo PRO, Outdoor Photographer, Digital Photo, and Videomaker. These four are print magazines delivered by mail.
Additional magazines can be added at +$4 per magazine per year. But the minimum is three magazines in order to get the bundle discount.
Offer expires Monday night.
If you are a Prime member, one of the many Prime Benefits is the “Prime Reading” feature that allows you to read a number of items for FREE. This includes e-books (around 1000 options), along with some comic books and single magazine issues (typically the latest issue).
Among the latest Free to Read Magazines is the September 2017 issue of Shutterbug, along with the August 2017 issue of Consumer Reports and the August 2017 issue of WIRED.
You can read as many eligible items as you want with Prime Reading, however, you can only have ten items checked out at a time. So if you are interested in a lot of things, get a mix of things you will read quickly and things you’ll read slowly, so your ten spots won’t be taken over by slow-reading material. Of course you can still return and re-pick them at any time.
Once you borrow an item, you can keep it as long as you want. While you keep it, it will take one of your ten slots.

B&H also includes articles in-between the usual product categories and pages. This is over 300 pages long. You can sign-up for a catalog or view the catalog online or download it in PDF either as a whole or in parts at the B&H Catalog page.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention, all the magazines in this weekend’s sale are $5 per year, so it’s a good opportunity to get magazines that don’t typically drop down to $5.

The sale prices are only for the first year. After the first year (if not cancelled or manually renewed), these will auto-renew at the “future current” renewal rate.

This weekend sale ended…
The Weekend Magazine Sale at DiscountMags ending on Monday night is a “Top 100 sale”, featuring two print photography magazines going for $5 per magazine per year, with the usual terms. The two are Pop Photo and Outdoor Photoographer.
If you are a Prime member, you automatically have the new “Prime Reading” benefit where you can borrow e-books or digital magazines from a preset selection. Among the magazines, the January 2017 selection includes the February 2017 edition of Shutterbug, along with the February 2017 issue of Consumer Reports, and a handful of other degrees-of-separation magazines (sports, fashion, nature, etc). You are borrowing these, you do not digitally-own them, but you can keep them as long as you like. Each one counts as one of your “ten out”. It’s like a library where you can have up to ten items out at any time, but you can return them and get new ones as many times as you want.
