30 Classes under $29 at Creative LIVE

Learning something new or learning more on a favorite subject is one way to drown out the Black Friday madness. Running now at CreativeLIVE is a sale of 30 classes under $30, with prices ranging from $15 to $29. At the $29 price tier, they have a “Food Photography” class (lessons #5 is free to stream), “Anatomy of a Photoshoot” (Mark Wallce), “Photography 101” (Erin Manning), “Nature and Landscape Photography” (John Greengo, the gear guy who does most of the “Fast Start” camera classes), “Speedlight Photography Basics”, etc. At the $19 tier, there’s a wine tasting class (wine NOT included).

You can also watch as many and as much of the “free to stream” classes as shown at their ON-AIR schedule page. This was an innovative way for Creative LIVE to set up their business, a freemium model that works for all parties involved.

40% off SmugMug (new subscriptions)

For new subscriptions only, Smugmug is offering 40% off SmugMug subscriptions. I almost turned the sentence into a palindrome. Close but no cigar 😉

Tell Your Friends // Shop and Support!

This blog is like a tourist spot, the holiday season helps fund the rest of the year! If you find this useful, please seriously consider making your online holiday through our various affiliate links in the individual blog-posts, or the sidebar or the Shop and Support page which lists all the annoying advertising methods we avoid here. We have so few ads even the spambot comments are saying I need to add more ads 🙂

Anything you buy using those links helps, big or small. You don’t have to buy the item shown or linked to. You can buy something from a competing manufacturer, or something totally different. Even ladybugs 🙂

You can also help support this adventure without shopping:

Starts Wedn 12pm ET (FREE Class): Camera Buying Guide

If you missed it yesterday, fear not! According to the Creative LIVE ON-AIR schedule, starting at 12pm ET today (Wedn 12/22/17), there will be rebroadcast of the Camera Buyer’s Guide by John Greego that premiered/recorded yesterday. Rebroadcasts typically rerun over and over until around 12pm ET of the next day, so you have multiple chances in the next 24 hours to catch it.

BF preparations: many items gone from Olympus Outlet store

I’m assuming that this is preparation for the Black Friday sales, in addition to posting a preview of their sales, Olympus has also pulled 2/3rds of the refurbished products available at their Outlet store. I’m assuming some of these will resurface during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday madness ~ unless a millionaire went a shopping spree last night and bought them all 🙂

Olympus posts Black Friday Preview (Sales Begin Thursday)

SPOILER ALERT! If you don’t want to be spoiled about the Olympus Black Friday deals that begin Thursday 11/23/17, do not check the Olympus Black Friday preview. The sale prices go live tomorrow (Thursday). These are the new condition cameras and lenses sold at various authorized Olympus dealers.

+ new low on their E-M1 II flagship, it will drop from $1800 to $1700
+ E-M10 III kits drop $100, body for $550, with lens for $650

Here are screenshots of the lens teasers, it’s much faster (and more accurate) than me transcribing pictures 🙂

Wedn coupon: 20% off $50+ order at B&N

Don’t you forget about us sings Barnes and Noble, we were selling books before iBooks and Kindles 😉 Coupon code DAYMAKER gets you 20% off a purchase of $50 at the Barnes and Noble website. The usual coupon exclusions apply.

The Clearance section is another place to look for deals. You can drill down the sub-categories or go directly to the Photography Clearance section. There’s also this 30% – 75% off Clearance page.

But wait, there’s more! Barnes and Noble has over 100 leather bound Collectible Editions of various classics old and new, from Jane Austen to Star Wars and Dune and Alice in Wonderland and Lovecraft and more

20% off select Electronics at Amazon Warehouse Deals

If you feel like doing the digital equivalent of sifting through a giant bargain bin, Amazon Warehouse Deals has an additional 20% off discount on a number of electronics (including camera gear) offered on their website. Only a subset of the items are eligible.

No coupon is needed. The price will drop in the shopping cart. Eligible items have a 20% off next to their price/listing on the individual price pages. Only items sold and shipped by Amazon Warehouse Deals itself are eligible. Screenshot below:

Imported Canon 5D Mark IV body with 1-YR Seller W for $2550

For $2849, you can get a loaded Canon 5D Mark IV bundle after mail-in rebate, but if you don’t want to deal with mail-in rebates, and don’t need/want the printer and the battery grip, AND you are comfortable with imported cameras…

… to the eBay Deals we go, where eBay seller “6ave” (98.9%) is offering it in new condition imported-grey market with a 1-year seller warranty (not Canon USA warranty) for $2550 with free shipping.

So it’s a game of trade offs:
+ mail-in rebate and prepaid gift card
+ USA warranty VS seller warranty
+ extra Printer and Battery Grip
+ A-list seller vs eBay seller
+ higher price vs lower price
+ sell/trade extras or no wish to do that

PS: we have a relatively new tag, Full Frame Deals that marks all the cameras that have a 35mm full frame sensor, whether they are DSLRs, mirrorless, fixed lens, or floating lens cube.

PS2: “W” is short for Warranty. With this blog template, I am trying to keep blog-post-titles one line long. If it goes for more than one line, it better make use of most of the second line, otherwise it’s wasted space. Although some could argue this whole blog is wasted space 😉

Canon 5D Mark IV Body with BG-E20 Battery Grip, Pixma PRO 100, Extras for $2849 after $350 MIR (prepaid AMEX)

Full frame party! This Canon 5D Mark IV body only bundle at B&H Photo gets you the following items for $2849 after a $350 mail-in rebate (prepaid AMEX gift card):

+ Canon 5D Mark IV body only kit
+ Canon BG-E20 Battery Grip
+ Canon Pixma PRO 100 printer
+ its trusty sidekick the 50pk of 13×19″ photo paper
+ 64GB Sandisk Extreme PRO
+ extra Watson battery

This is a pretty good deal on its own, without even factoring in the mail-in rebate. The 5D IV body only went for $3300 on its own (without the printer and battery grip) a couple of weeks ago when I posted the Full Frame Price Charts.

Fujifilm INSTAX Mini 90 Neo Classic Instant Camera for $100

The new condition Fujifilm INSTAX Mini 90 Neo Classic Instant Camera is now on sale for $100 with free expedited shipping at B&H Photo which includes a free 10-exposure film. That’s the main listing. When you look at the other sub-tabs, there are more film combos for just a few dollars more.

This also goes for $100 with free S&H at Amazon by Amazon itself (limit up to three per camera color) but there’s no free film there.

Monoprice Black Friday: Computer Monitors, Graphic Tablets, Etc

Monoprice has launched their Black Friday sales featuring a variety of tech-related products. The above link is the “doorbuster summary” but there’s much and more. Of camera and photo interest is the Computers and Gaming tab where you will find many and more computer monitors and graphic tablets throughout that page. A surprising number of items gets free standard US shipping, something rare for Monoprice.

Or if you want something practical that ships in single figures, their 20 oz Pure Outdoor Emperor Tumbler is on sale for $6.79 with free standard US shipping. This can also offset the shipping cost of other small things (eg cables) that don’t come with free shipping. This is food-grade 18/8 stainless steel, but their product description needs a better proofreader: “The Emperor Tumbler is the ideal drinking glass”. A glass is usually made of glass, not stainless steel 🙂

You can make the most of these offers by combining them with the $15 off $75+ PayPal payment coupon which expires tonight 11/22/17.
