YI 4K+ Sports Action Camera for $255

This is not a lightning deal, but an old fashioned sale. The new condition YI 4K+ Sports Action Camera, which supports RAW capture, is on sale for $255 with free shipping by YI’s own Amazon store, with the orders fulfilled by Amazon, so Prime members get free two-day shipping as usual.

UPDATE: optionally, under the “Special Offers” section over there, there are a couple of combined purchase discounts if you buy this together with some of its accessories. The coupon codes for each offer are shown over there.

Slik Lite CF-522 Carbon Fiber Tripod for $100 after $100 MIR (prepaid GC)

The Slik Lite CF-522 Carbon Fiber Tripod was on sale last week for $150 at Adorama. The bad news is that the price has now increased to $200. The good news is that this tripod has a $100 mail-in rebate on it, making it $100 after the $100 mail-in rebate.

The PDF link of the rebate form can be found at the product page. Per the PDF file, it runs for the whole month of November 2017, and it is maximum two per household for this promotional period. The $100 will be a prepaid VISA or Mastercard gift card.

The link to the PDF file is really small, here’s a screenshot highlighting it:

This is a five leg carbon fiber tripod. Per the PDF, the rebate only works for this specific model, and this rebate form is specific to Adorama, not other retailers.

FREE Canon PIXMA PRO 100 printer and photo paper with purchase of select Canon DSLRs, G-series, M6 mirrorless [after mail-in rebate]

If you are not afraid of mail-in rebates and prepaid American Express gift cards, Adorama has a new promotion for you! Select Canon camera bundles include the Canon Pixma PRO 100 printer and 50pk photo paper. After you receive them and file the mail-in rebate per directions, a few weeks later you will receive a $350 prepaid AMEX gift card by mail. This will counter the price of the printer/paper, thus making them free after mail-in rebate.

Eligible cameras for this promotion are the M6 mirrorless, a couple of G-series RAWsumers, various D-Rebel kits (T6, T6i, T6, T5i), various APS-C DSLR kits (80D, 7D II), and various 35mm full frame DSLR kits (5DS, 6D II, 6D, 5D IV).

For more Adorama action, check their Pre-Holiday Sales which include clearance items among the 3600+ options listed there. Obviously I can’t quickly “digest” these as I have yet to be absorbed by IBM’s Watson 🙂

5% off on select Zeiss Batis and Loxia lenses [Sony E]

5% off may be a small percentage, but when it comes to actual Zeiss lenses, 5% is not pocket change 🙂 Adorama has select Zeiss Batis and Loxia lenses on sale for 5% off.

Batis lenses participating are the 18/2.8 for $1424, the 25/2 for $1234 [that’s a flowing number], the 85/1.8 for $1139 and the 135/2.8 with an “add to cart” discount.

Loxia lenses (lox not included) are the 21/2.8 for $1424, the 35/2.8 for $1234, the 50/2 for $899, and the 85/2.4 for $1329.

All these are Sony E-mount lenses. See them all at the Adorama Zeiss Savings page.

Breakthrough Photography Dark CPL (pre-orders) and X4 GND (now shipping) Filters

Adorama has an exclusive on a number of Breakthrough Photography Filters. The X4 ND square filters and the X4 GND Filters (the first two horizontal slide show stripes on the page) are already in-stock and shipping. Meanwhile the Dark CPL (circular polarizer) models are available for pre-order. There are ten of each of the X4 filters, and 22 of the Dark CPL, along with three accessories. That’s a total of 45 options, too many to list individually here.

Adobe Classes up to 40% off at Creative LIVE

Separately from the previously mentioned Free to Watch online classes, CreativeLIVE has a sale with a discount of up to 40% off (percentage varies by class) on their various Adobe-related classes covering Lightroom, Photoshop, CC, Premiere, along with related Tools and Techniques (retouching, layers, blend modes, etc).

FREE to Watch: Photo Week 2017 re-airing at Creative LIVE

The Photo Week 2017 collection of 40 classes, five keynotes and five critique sessions is now re-airing FREE to watch at Creative LIVE until November 6 in 2017. Since this is a rebroadcast, it will loop through throughout the day. A new day should begin at 12pm ET every day.

If you like what you see, they have a promotional bundle for $200 that gets you all 40 classes, five critiques and five keynotes.

For all the classes currently airing for FREE, and planned to air for FREE in the next few days, check their ON-AIR Schedule.

AMEX Offers: Get $25 back on $250+ Best Buy purchases [must activate first]

If you think you are going to spend at least $250 until the end of the year at Best Buy (online and/or brick and mortar store) and you have an American Express account, when you login to your AMEX account online, check under the “AMEX Offers” section for this promotion. You get a one-time $25 statement credit you make a minimum of $250 in combined purchases at Best Buy’s website and/or brick and mortar store.

This doesn’t have to be a single transaction, small purchases can add up to that. Make sure you activate the offer first in your AMEX account before you start buying. Activation is simple, you just press the “Add to Card” button. The offer expires 12/31/17.

As usual with these offers, I don’t know if everyone is offered these, or the AMEX computers offer it so a subset of their customers based on what their AI and Humans Bots decide 🙂

Strategically, add this to your card if there is a possibility you might do this. The option to sign up usually leaves your account before the offer expires, so don’t wait until Christmas Eve to try to add it to your account 🙂

Black Friday 2017 Season Has Began Here at The Blog!

This is not a troll post 🙂 Black Friday is happening earlier this year (November 24), so many of the usual Black Friday things will be shifted earlier. The trend is to start earlier every year after all.

The first thing in our Black Friday coverage is the Black Friday 2017 Ad Digest which I just started! This is where we summarize the various leaked and official BF ads, and group them by product category. Right now we have just two stores, but more will come out in the next few days. Once we have about half of them out, the patterns emerge of what to expect.

The next step in our Black Friday coverage is to create a new Price Charts Series. With new cameras announced at Photo Plus Expo, and new prices rolling out with the new month, I am planning to run this new series from November 5-11 in 2017.

If you have any feedback, suggestions, preferences and such, this is a good time to let me know in the comments here or using the online contact form, because it’s easier to make changes before the madness begins 🙂

Starts 12pm ET Today: FREE to Watch Nikon D7500 Fast Start Online Class World Premiere [also: Canon 6D II rerun]

We have another “world premiere”, a new class recording LIVE today, starting at 12pm eastern (Tuesday 10/31/17), you can watch LIVE and for FREE, with John Greengo, it is the Nikon D7500 Fast Start class. This is the latest Nikon APS-C model, and it is in-stock and shipping [see Stock Status Tracker].

But that’s not all! If you missed yesterday’s Canon EOS 6D Mark II Fast Start class, it will be re-running today for FREE starting at 12pm ET.

You can find future classes scheduled to stream for FREE at the Creative LIVE On-Air Schedule. Classes with that yellow LIVE tag means they are recording for the first time on that date, a world premiere. Classes without that tag means they are rebroadcasts. The classes you see on that schedule are free to watch on the days they are listed under.

PS: the correct name of these classes is “Fast Start” but I often call them “Fast Track”. I cannot easily unwire my brain, so this is a known error 🙂

$15 photography classes at Udemy [also: some FREE] {updated}

UPDATE 11/1/17: the price is now $15 instead of $12 per class…

Good until tonight (Tuesday 10/31/17), Udemy has a $12 online class sale which includes a number of photography classes. There is no coupon code to enter, the sale is factored into their website. Use the search box over there to search for topics of interest, eg “photography” or “lightroom” or anything else you are interested in.

Each class’s individual listing has a box below the price that lists the length of the class along with the terms and access. Udemy classes can be viewed with a desktop web browser, a mobile web browser, iOS and Google Play apps, along with Apple TV (only watch/listen; the other features don’t work on Apple TV).

If you are not familiar with them, you can get a feel of the website, the apps and how the courses work by getting some of the free courses. This includes an 8-hour “Learn Photoshop from Scratch” class by Eduonix Learning Solutions available for FREE.

Also FREE is a 4.5-hour “Photoshop In-Depth: Master all of Photoshop’s Tools Easily” online class by Chad Neuman, Ph.D.
