Panasonic G85 with 12-60 and 45-200 OIS for $998

The Panasonic G85 mirrorless camera is on its way out. The body only kit is already gone, that’s why we didn’t include it in our latest Mirrorless Price Chart, but that doesn’t stop the deals from happening!

ASUS Chromebook Flip C302 for $430

With Android camera and photography apps picking up in features and usability, a “ChromeDroid” (Chrome OS laptop with Google Play Android app support) may be an option for some photographers in some situations. Which brings us to a sale, the new condition ASUS Chromebook Flip C302 is down to $430 with free shipping, sold and shipped by Amazon itself with up to three units per customer.

This is competing with the Samsung Chromebook PRO which also uses the Intel m3-6Y30 processor, but the Samsung goes for $500 and comes with and supports an S-Pen stylus. The ASUS does not come with or support a specialty stylus (you can use a general purpose touchscreen stylus but those are nowhere near as accurate or useful as digitizer technology like the S-Pen, or Surface Pen or Apple Pencil or Wacoms).

Speaking of which, as of the time of writing, all four options of the ChromeOS flagship, the Google Pixelbook are now in-stock and shipping by Amazon itself. The 128GB option goes for $1000, while the 256GB goes for $1200. The Stylus costs $99 more, available as a bundle on that page or can be purchased separately.

One thing leads to another and we have a bit of a YI theme today. Unrelated to their action cameras, the YI 42.5mm f1.8 lens is on sale for $169 in the black color scheme or the silver color scheme, sold by the YI Amazon store with the orders fulfilled by Amazon, so it is Prime eligible.

This is of interest if you only want the lens and have zero interest in the YI M1 camera or 12-40 YI lens.

If you have some interest in the YI M1 camera, note that it is sold as a YI M1 two lens kit (the M1 camera, this 42.5/1.8 lens and the 12-40/3.5-5.6 lens) for $379 in the silver color scheme. The black color scheme is currently sold out.

Blog Plan for Black Friday Season

Just like the Cylons (ha!), we have a plan! A plan for the Black Friday season which is upon us already – just two weeks away from Black Friday.

This year we are taking more of a sequential approach. Here is the Plan, approved by #6:

  1. finish the Price Charts series – only one is left, the Fixed Lens Cameras. The price-checking and spreadsheet are done, as evidenced by the flurry of RAWsumer deals posted last night. The write-up is coming later today. Since this is so close to the July 2017 installment, and Black Friday is upon us, I won’t do the “Bonus Comparisons”
  2. Digest the waves of Black Friday ads that came out the last couple of days in the BF Ads Digest
  3. Start the Black Friday Situation Room at the Main Blog!
  4. all these should happen by Sunday night. If not, then please cancel the Patreons as punishment 🙂
