Pre-order the new Mac PRO computer line-up

Just in time for the Holidays of 2019, Apple has updated the Mac PRO computer line-up and these new creative critters are now available for pre-ordering at B&H Photo along with a 32″ PRO Retina 6K display, along with assorted and related products and accessories. Apple is putting Xeon back in the tech-o-sphere radar? 🙂

Dell Cyber Monday Doorbusters launch 5pm ET

Per their website, Cyber Monday doorbusters will launch at 5pm eastern time at the Dell Home website. But they also have on-going offers at the moment.

There’s also 6-month and 12-month no-interest-IF-paid-in-full financing promotion on up to $5,000. As usual with the financing offers, check the terms and conditions and restrictions and make sure you will pay the full amount on time, otherwise you’ll pay interest on the full amount from day zero…

Apple Mac Mini (late 2018 models) start at $699

The B&H Black Friday deals include a variety of Apple products on sale as well, including the Apple Mac Mini (late 2018 models) being on sale, with prices starting at $699 (i3, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD) and climbing as the specs improve. A total of 23 options are available. You also get a 1-year FREE of the recently launched Apple TV streaming service…

Plan your B&H purchases for today ahead of time. B&H’s website will NOT be accepting orders between Friday at 4:15pm ET and Saturday 5:45pm eastern. Peruse their Black Friday deals before then to make sure you don’t miss out any potentially interesting/hot deal…

Dell launches Black Friday sales too

Dell too has launched their Black Friday deals with new offers going live hourly during the times most people are awake [although after a day of tryptophan overload, “awake” is a relative term]. This round of sales ends on 12/1/19 at 8am. Sales include Inspiron laptops (start at $150 with AMD A9) and going up, XPS, desktops, Alienware, Dell Gaming, UltraSharps, electronics, TVs, gaming gear, keyboard/mice, and mo(i)re…

Tuesday (28 options): 32GB Lexar 2000x SDXC for $40, 512GB Sandisk Extreme PRO SDXC for $160, 256GB Sandisk Extreme microSDXC for $36 [also: HDDs, NAS, SSD, Computers, Kindles, Bushnells, Etc]

And they are back at the Amazon Gold Box, it’s another variant of the Computer Sale featuring 28 products, from storage to actual computers! They are too many to link here individually, here are some potentially interesting options:

+ 32GB Lexar Professional 2000x SDHC (UHS-II, up to 300MB/sec, V90, U3, C10, Z69, A340, B794, C185) for $36~
+ okay, some of those are made-up 🙂

+ 256GB Sandisk Extreme microSDXC for $40~

+ 512GB Sandisk Extreme PRO SDXC card (UHS-I, U3, C10, up to 95MB/sec) for $160

+ 64GB Sandisk USB 2.0 flash drive for $9~

+ 1TB WD Elements portable (definitely not potable) external HDD USB 3.0 for $43
+ 1TB MyPassport instead for $48
+ 5TB WD MyPassport for $100
+ 8TB WD MyCloud EX2 Ultra NAS for $300

+ 2TB Seagate Expansion external USB 3.0 HDD for $50

+ also: gaming, headsets, networking, etc

Not part of the daily deals but these are limited time offers by Amazon itself on their latest Kindle e-reader models:

+ latest Kindle for $65 (limit two per customer); this is with Special Offers, Wifi-only, 167ppi, built-in front light [this feature was added to this generation of the entry-point Kindles]
+ optionally you can select the bundle with free 3-month Kindle Unlimited subscription (it auto-renews monthly after the first three months, so setup an alert in your calendar/task app ~ it’s cheaper to buy Kindle Unlimited as prepaids than month-to-month)
+ remember if you are a Prime member, you also have the free Prime Reading feature which usually has over 1000 e-books to read; you don’t even have to buy ebooks

+ Kindle Paperwhite for $90 (limit two per customer); this is with Special Offers, Wifi-only, 8GB on-board storage, 300ppi, built-in front light (it had been the defining feature of the Paperwhite before the Voyage/Oasis)

BUT WAIT, there’s more! Also part of the Tuesday daily deals is a Bushnell sale featuring three groups of Bushnell products, with prices ranging from $22 to $314. Yes, $22 is a Bushnell binocular, not a bag or other accessory 🙂

UPDATE: I haven’t tested every single item, but of the ones I have tested, the limit is two per customer per item at the sale price…

UPDATE #2: there’s also a tech sale at the Amazon Germany Gold Box, lots of great prices on Logitech mice and keyboards since they are typically more expensive in Europe than the US. Note that the most of the keyboards are using the QWERTZ formation, not the “normal” QWERTY. Thankfully the mice don’t have any QWERTZ vs QWERTY confusion 🙂

Saturday: refurbished iMacs, Air (also gaming sale)

IT’s a day of “Woot Plus” offerings at the Woot website. At the main Woot, it’s all about Apple products, featuring refurbished iMacs, Airs and PROs… And at “Computers”, they have a sale on various gaming accessories…

Laptops dominate the sale but there are some AiOs and desktops as well… Clicking on the other visual tabs at the top of the page you can find other products by category of interest, eg Monitors…

Dell Outlet overstock sale, Monoprice Refurb/Open-box, Adorama Flash Sale

For the computer-inclined, the Dell Outlet is continuing its Overstock sale with various offerings as usual. The offers that require a promo code say so in their little virtual box that describes the offer.

Meanwhile the Dell Home store is continuing its semi-annual sale with 17% off savings on select items (some require promo code SAVE17). They also have optional 6-month financing offers on $499+ purchases (on approved credit, etc, etc, etc).

In other related action, MONOPRICE is having another refurbished and open-box sale with a variety of participating products. Monoprice, per their website, offers a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 90-day warranty on products in this category that are, per their website, inspected and tested. You can filter them by product category
and such on the left hand side of their website.

Speaking of Monoprice, they now have in-stock and shipping their new FORM technology backpacks with prices ranging from $60 to $90 with free US shipping.

And back to the camera front, ADORAMA is having another flash sale with over 650 camera and photo and accessories participating. The price you see is the price you pay as usual, with a number of the items having promotional rewards and/or free items with purchase.

Dell Semi-Annual online sale

If you are a fan of the “Way Of The Dell”, their Dell Home deals page has their semi-annual sale [there’s _always_ a reason to have a sale it seems] featuring their usual assortment of laptops, desktops, AiOs, computer monitors, TVs, accessories, etc. Use coupon code SAVE17 for 17% off on participating offers [the coupon is mentioned on each eligible offer]…

Woot Plus: refurbished HP Printers, Inks, Apple and Chrome laptops

Woot Plus (the longer-running deals, not the daily ones) are having a sale on HP Printer and Inks with five printers and five ink options participating. Printers range from $22 (Deskjet Advantage 1115) to $80 (Envy Photo 7855 AiO). Inks go from $30 to $43. All but the $22 printer are factory reconditioned with a 90-day HP warranty. The sale ends 9/23/19 or ealrier if sold out.

Another Woot Plus deal running until 9/13/19 focused on refurbished Chromebooks and Apple laptops with the Thinkpad X150e starting at $90. This has a nice 4GB RAM but 16GB on-board storage. As one of the Commenters over there pointed out, this is however an older model, so it is no longer getting Chrome OS updates.

Google offers 6.5 years of ChromeOS updates BUT the clock is not ticking when a new laptop is released. Instead the clock is ticking on the platform. And the platform is defined as the date the first laptop was released using that laptop. So if a new laptop is released using a 3 year old processor, it will only get 3.5 years of updates because the platform is on the clock, not the indivudual laptop. This is explained in Google Support

Back to School Apple Deals at B&H

If you are of the Apple persuasion, B&H Photo has over 150 options in their Apple Back to School sales featuring a mix of different products as usual. Because Apple just doesn’t have 150 of any single product 🙂

Tuesday: more Intel Gamer Days offerings

The “Intel Gamer Days” continue at the Amazon USA Gold Box with today’s (Tuesday 9/3/19) offers being the headliners of the Gold Box with laptops from MSI and Lenova, and an iBuyPower desktop, various other accessories…

Dell Outlet extends Labor Day sales

The Dell Outlet has extended their Labor Day deals for another day with the offers shown there good until Tuesday night (instead of Monday night). Some of the offers require a promo code which is shown below each offer that requires it. The usual assortment of laptops, desktops, AiOs and computer monitors are offered…

Friday: Intel Gamers Day computer & accessory sale

It is Day #2 of Computer related deals at the Amazon USA Gold Box with an overarching “Intel Gamer Days” theme [yes, we are all now literary critics, even of deals, thank you prestige TV ;-)]. Gaming desktops and laptops and computer monitors from various brands are participating (Acer Predator,HP Omen, ASUS Republic of Gamers, CyberPower PC, Dell/Alienware, etc).

A few other assorted accessories are also part of the sale (keyboard, mice, motherboards, networking, etc).

SPOILER ALERT: since the theme is “Intel” Gamers Day, the featured computers have Intel processors…

Labor Day sales begin at Dell

Labor Day is just around the corner but the sales have already began at many websites such as Dell Home where they have daily doorbusters at 11am eastern along with various other offers on computers, monitors, electronics and other related products. Their “official” Labor Day sales begin on August 29 at 8am eastern time.

Current laptop doorbuster offers start at $150 (14″, 4GB, 64GB flash, Cellery, Win 10S) while $250 gets you a 11.6″ touchscreen with 128GB flash, AMD A9-9420e and Win10S (Win 10 Home in S mode). Chromebooks start at $176~ (4GB, 32GB, 11.6″, Cellery)

Dell Outlet sale starting with $299+ Inspiron 15

IF you are a fan of outlet shopping, the Dell Outlet is having another sale, headlined by $299+ Inspiron 15 5000 laptops (limit one per customer). Other computers are also on sale along with a clearance on monitors ranging from 24″ to 34″. The coupon codes are shown over there for offers that require the use of a coupon…

UPDATE: speaking of technology, this is a handy page to check, it shows the new product arrivals at the Monoprice website [no relation to the Dell Outlet offer mentioned in the paragraph above]…

UPDATE #2 if you feel like deal-fishing at the Monoprice website, here’s a couple of places to check, the Deal Depot page and also the Summer Clearance (171 items on offer there)…

Thursday: DJI Osmo Pocket 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilized Handheld Camera for $315

Among the Thursday Woot deals of the day is the new condition DJI Osmo Pocket 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilized Handheld Camera going for $315 with free shipping for Prime members (there’s a one time step where you link your Woot account with your Amazon account that has the Prime membership) or $6 flat for the calendar day for non-members. Limit up to ten per customer during the sale. It comes with a 1-year DJI warranty…

Meanwhile among the Thursday Amazon USA deals du jour you can get a Chromebook-priced Windows 10 PRO laptop with all the buzzword features (touchscreen, stylus, 2-in-1 design) but obviously older processor and technology, it’s the new condition Lenovo Winbook 300e, model wt-81FY000SUS, going for $240, sold by Woot and fulfilled by Amazon. It has a 11.6″ 1366×768 IPS touchscreen, 360 degree 2-in-1 design, stylus included with on-device pen holder, 4GB DDR3 memory, Windows 10 Professional, 1-year Lenovo warranty. NOTE however that it has only 64GB of on-board eMMC storage (portable flash drives, memory cards and external HDDs are your friend in this case) and the processor is the Intel Cellery N3450 dual core, which ranks # at #1786 at cpubenchmark.net. Then again, who’s gonna run Photoshop on a 11.6″ laptop with 64GB of storage? 🙂 It has no customer reviews. The listing was created at Amazon in just July 2019….

Wedn: HP Omen Gaming Computers and Red Dragon kbd/mice

Wednesday action in the Amazon USA Gold Box, it’s another variant of the Computer Sale, this one featuring gaming HP desktops and laptops, along with Red Dragon keyboards and mice (I’m assuming that by now the internet decided that “mices” is the plural of “mice”, and “casted” is the past tense of “cast”) 🙂 A total of 14 computers and 8 keyboards/mice are participating in this sale…

Prime Deal: GoPRO HERO5 Black for $150

Good until 2:45pm ET (or earlier if sold out), Prime Members can get the new condition GoPRO HERO5 Black in e-commerce packaging for $150 with free shipping. As of the time of writing, it is 18% claimed…

Some of the other day-long Prime Day 2019 sales that I have yet to mention:

+ new condition 10.5″ iPad PRO with Cellular (previous generation) for $629 to $699 (storage varies from 256GB to 512GB; some colors cost more than others)

+ AiO, Tablets & Laptop sale, 27 options from Acer, Samsung, HP, ASUS, Dell, LG, Lenova, etc

+ Computer Gaming sale with computers and monitors with over 40 options from ASUS, MSI, Razer, Acer, CyberPower, Dell, iBuyPOWER, Corsair and more

+ Chromebook sale with 15 options from Acer, ASUS, Samsung, HP and Lenova with prices ranging from $145 to $600; with the Web bloating and ChromeOS adding features and OS bloat, it is a good idea to go for 4GB RAM, not 2GB RAM for Chromebooks ~ unless the usage plan is strictly uni-tasking with hunt-and-peck typing

Apple 4th of July sale at B&H with 17 options

The 4th of July sale is in-progress at B&H Photo featuring a variety of products and bundles as you can see over there ~ and you can filter by categories of interest (eg “Photography”, “Pro Video”).

Since we previously mentioned Dell and PC offers, the “OS Fairness Doctrine” requires us that we mention Apple offers as well, and B&H helps that out with a 17-item Apple sale with Minis (no, not Cooper, but Late 2018 Mac Minis), and MacBooks and various 27-inch Retina 5 AiO Macs of early 2019.

UPDATE: speaking of the “OS Fairness Doctrine”, Android fans want their deal too, so here it is, FREE $350 headphones (the Sony WH-1000X Mark III) when you pre-order the new Sony Android flagship, the Xperia 1, for $950 at B&H Photo and Amazon itself

48% off an in-stock item w/Dell Refurbished coupon

Of course there is a 48-hour sale at Dell Refurbished to celebrate the 4th of July. Using coupon codes DELL48PROUD or DELL48USA you can get 48% off any in-stock item in the story until 7/5/2019 at 9AM CST. Terms and restrictions apply as usual…

Dell’s “Black Friday in July” sale-a-bration

It’s only July, many months until Black Friday 2019, but nothing can stop retailers from launching “early” Black Friday sales. Even if it’s not a Friday 🙂 To sale-a-brate the 4th of July, Dell Home is running an early Black Friday sale featuring doorbusters launching at 11am eastern every day, along with various other offers on their laptops (regular and gaming) and their AiOs and 2-in-1s and computer monitors and TVs and various electronics and accessories and such…

But wait, there’s more. They are also running an MPP sale; no not a sale for MPs or of MPs, but it’s their Membership Purchase Plan or something like that 🙂

UPDATE: speaking of Dell, they are having a Dell Outlet sale as well, with special promotions on select Inspirons and Alienware among others….

Thursday: 512GB Centon USB 3.0 Stick for $40, Acer Computers and Monitors sale

Limit two of each item per Amazon account during this sale which ends, as usual, at 11:59pm pacific ~ or earlier for anything that manages to sell out…

Speaking of the Gold Box, as a warm up to the upcoming Prime Day 2019, Amazon is offering for Prime members only, the new condition Toshiba 43LF421U19 43-inch 1080p Smart LED TV, the Fire TV Edition, for $180 with free shipping. Limit one per customer. There’s no rush to get it, this sale lasts for four days (unless it sells out ~ but I’m guessing they wouldn’t have put it up for four days if they knew it had reasonable chances of selling out faster)…

Monday: Storage (microSD, HDD) and Laptops and Etc sale

Name-brand technology makes a comeback at the Monday 6/24/19 Amazon Gold Box deals du jour. This set is good until 11:59pm Pacific time [or earlier for anything that sells out earlier on]. You can buy up to two of each individual item per shopping cart.

On the hard drive side of things, there’s a 3TB WD for $83, and a 6TB Seagate desktop style with two USB ports for $100.

And then there are laptops, five Windows laptops from Dell and Alienware ($335 to $1515) and one ASUS Chromebook (Flip C101PA-DS04, 10.1″, Rockchip, 4GB RAM, 32GB on-board, one USB-A and two USB-C ports , microSD slot, Google Play, 360-degree touchscreen, 1280×800, 2 lbs, etc) for $279.

But that’s not all – there’s networking gear, gaming accessories, and the Wacom One graphics tablet for $50…

Tuesday Computer Daily Deals Galore Again

Is this national computer deals week? It maybe so judging by the latest round of Tuesday daily deals:

At the Amazon Gold Box, there is a big gaming computer gear sale, with a total of 29 products, with prices ranging from $20 to $1600. This includes Acer, iBUYPower and CyberPower desktop computers, ASUS and Alienware laptops, Acer monitor, Ryzer and ASUS Prime, space-age routers, storage, gaming headsets, keyboard/mice, etc.

At the Best Buy daily deals the headliner is a 17.3-inch ASUS TUF gaming laptop going for $1000 (i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, NVidia GTX 1060)… Other daily deals include a $150 projector and $249 gaming chair…

Meanwhile in Woot-Landia there’s a $170 factory reconditioned 32-inch curved Samsung FHD LED monitor, and a $390 HP Chromebook (360 degrees, 14″ FHD, Intel i3 U processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM [yummy on ChromeOS!], 64GB eMMC storage, etc) among others…

Monday: Samsung Chromebook sale ($200 to $400)

It’s Chromebook time of the Samsung kind. Along with the Levis jeans sale, the Monday Amazon USA Gold Box has a Samsung Chromebooks sale, with three models ranging from $200 to $400 with something for everyone!

The $200 model is the Chromebook 3 with a 11.6″ screen, 4GB RAM, 64GB on-board and Celery N3060 processor…

The other two models are 2-in-1s with touchscreens and with included Samsung S-Pens that are nestled inside the laptop body.

The PLUS has a 12.2″ screen (1920 x 1200, 4GB RAM, 64GB on-board, microSD slot with up to 400GB cards, Celery 3965Y, support for Google Play in parallel to ChromeOS [can be turned off is not needed]. This is the second generation (V2) model. This adds a USB-A port to the first generations two USB-C ports, so that’s one less dongle to carry. For HDMI or Ethernet, you need a USB-C/USB-A dongle.. It averages 4.7 out of 5 based on 21 customer reviews and it has nearly 50 answered questions… I haz the first generation and it’s really a great value for money if you can stomach Google-everywhere 🙂

The $400 model is the PRO in the line but it is the first generation with a 3.8 out of 5 based on 404 [foreboding number?] customer reviews. It has a 12.3″ screen with 2400 x 1600 [but Samsung recommends running it at a lower resolution for optimal performance] with 4GB RAM, 32GB on-board, Core M3-6Y30, 12.3″ display, etc.

When upgraded to the latest OS versions, you should also see an option for “Linux Beta”.

Limit two of each option per customer at the sale price. Sale ends on Tuesday at 3am ET or earlier for any that sell out.

On the other hand, if you don’t need the extra features (eg S-Pen), and you feel like a boldly-going explorer of a new brand, the Amazon page recommended this $250 Poin2 Chromebook (Poin2 is the brand name) with 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, 14-inch screen, 180-degree hinge, IPS, touchscreen, MediaTek quadcore, SD card reader, HDMI, USB 3.0 Type A, USB-C, etc. There’s also a $3.47 off discount if you select “No Rush Shipping”… This is the first time I heard of this brand, so this is strictly for the boldly-going types…
