Sony Black Friday Instant Savings (86 options)

We already mentioned some of them individually, but there’s plenty more in the Sony Black Friday offers. There are both full frame and APS-C mirrorless cameras, E and FE prime and zoom lenses, the ZV1 creature for $698, a couple of camcorders, flashes and other accessories, and of course some of the RX-series fixed lens cameras… Too many to list here individually…

Keep in mind a number of these qualify for our previously mentioned Sony “buy more save more” mail-in rebate promotion which gets you money (in a prepaid VISA gift card) for each qualifying lens you buy during the promotional period. You must have one of the participating Sony full frame mirrorless cameras. The details through the aforelinked link which has links to other links with other info 🙂

Sony complicated mail-in promotion with conditions: Buy 2 or More participating Sony Lenses, Own a qualifying Sony Full-Framer, and Get Mail-In Rebate Per Lens

Sony is running a little bit of a convoluted “buy more save more” type of a promotion until December 6 in 2020. The start of the promotional period was September 1st in 2020. Items need not to be purchased from the same retailer or the same date.

The offer requires:

  • Buy 2 or more Sony Lenses from this eligible list of options; new condition authorized dealer only, no open-box, no used, no refurbished – look for them at B&H Photo
  • You Must Own a Sony Full Frame camera from this list A7S III, A7R III, A7R IV, A9, A9 II; purchase time does not matter for this, you could also buy the camera together with the lenses
  • you must enter the information (serial numbers, etc) at the promotional Sony page
  • you will receive $100 to $200 per eligible lens; the amounts per lens are predetermined (typically the more expensive the lens, the higher the rebate)
  • you will receive the amount in about 2 months as a prepaid VISA gift card
  • check all the terms conditions and restrictions before jumping in

Separately, Sony is running a promotion that if you own an eligible Sony camera and purchase a Sony Xperia 1 II or 5 II, you get a rebate of $150 or $120. Eligible Also a 12/6/20 expiration date… Details via the PDF file at the Xperia 1 II product page at B&H, which as of the time of writing it gets a $100 B&H gift card as well…

Sony a7R II body with either 1-year Creative Cloud (Pho) or Flashpoint Flash for $1198

The Sony a7r II body only goes for $1198 with free accessories (cards, bags, trinkets, etc) at some photography dealers but apart from those offers, there are a couple with more substantive freebies:

+ at B&H Photo and for the same price you get a 12-month Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan included
+ if you go through the other options at B&H, for $1396 you can get it with the Sony 28-70 f3.5-5.6 OSS lens and either the Grip Extension kit or the aforementioned 12-month Creative Cloud

+ at Adorama you get their house brand Flashpoint Zoom TTL R2 Flash with Integrated R2 Radio Transceiver for the same price

Sony Educational discounts up and running at B&H

If you are eligible and registered for the Sony Educational program, a handful of limited time Sony Educational offers is up and running at B&H Photo. You can only see the offers if you are registered for the Sony EDU program and you are logged on to that account at B&H Photo…

Some of the educational offers include:

+ Sony a7 II body for $758
+ Sony a7R II body for $1018
+ Sony a6600 body for $1158
+ Sony RX100 VII for $1068
+ a6000 with 16-50 for $433
+ FE 50mm f1.8 $161

You must be registered as an EDU/student at B&H to see the above offers…

10% Back on select Sony Cameras and Lenses when paying with the B&H PayBoo card

The B&H PayBoo card is B&H’s online store credit card that has a special benefit. If you online-shop from a state that charges sales tax on online purchases, and you pay for the B&H purchase with the PayBoo store card, you get an instant discount/credit on the PayBoo card that is equal of the sales tax you would have paid. In other words, B&H pays the sales tax for you. You can check whether your state is eligible by clicking on the “Check Savings” links over there. It opens up, asks for your zipcode and tells you the percentage. Obviously if you live in a state without a sales tax, you won’t get anything discounted. The card is from Symphony Bank. It is only a store card that can be used at B&H, not a general-use VISA/Mastercard/etc…

And now to the actual deal running until August 25 in 2020. In addition to the aforementioned sales-tax credit, you will get an additional 10% back on your card with the purchase of select Sony Cameras and Lenses that you see listed over there. They include A-series full-frames, a-series APS-C cameras, f2.8 PRO zooms, bright primes and various other lenses and bundles…

Example
To keep the example simple, I am using round numbers and a fictional state. Let’s say you live in the great state of Denial, famous for its beautiful reflective lakes and its wholesome gentle and thrifty people, so they charge a 1% sales tax. You want to buy a Sony a6400 kit that costs $998. And you pay for your purchase in whole with the B&H PayBoo card.

You will be charged $998 [the camera price] plus 1% sales tax [$9.98] but the PayBoo card will automatically credit your account for $9.98, making your out of pocket $998. And because you are buying a camera participating in this Sony promotion, you will get a separate 10% credit [10% of $998 = $99.8] on your PayBoo B&H card…

I hope this example is actually not making things more confusing 🙂

Sony Flash and Battery Grip Sale (five options)

Sony is having a Flash and Grip sale with three of their on-camera flashes being on sale ($278 to $548) and two of their battery grips ($298 to $348)…

Speaking of grippy things, the new condition BlackRapid Sport Breathe Camera Strap is on sale for $59~ with free US shipping for a limited time…

Sony RX100 VA edition with Extras (SquareTrade, 32GB, Watson) for $909

Sony was doing the “New Editions” thing before Huawei (out of mordant need) made it cool with their Google Play “New Edition” smartphones. So back to Sony, their new RX100 VA edition (buffer size boost and other fixes and improvements) goes for $848~ in new condition at authorized dealers, but if you want a nice bundle with extras, for a limited time, B&H Photo is offering this VA bundle for $909. So that extra $61 gets you:

+ extra Watson-brand battery
+ 32GB Sandisk Extreme PRO SD card
+ 2-year Square Trade Spills-n-Drops warranty

On their own, the three items go for $20 + $13 + $64, so basically if you want the Square Trade warranty, you are paying less with the bundle and get the card and battery as a bonus…

PS: speaking of the RX100 cameras, they have amazing staying power for a digital camera, even defeating Leica! Despite all the newer RX100-series models, even the first generation continues to be available as a current product ($399 new, $279 used, at B&H)…

Sony Instant Savings on RX cameras and E system options

If you are a fan of the Sony RX-series of cameras, we have good news for you, there are some RX-series Instant Savings promotions that include the beastly speed-demon beast of the RX 10 Mark IV for $1598 with a free 64GB Sony SF-E UHS-II SDXC card and a RJ camera bag… Also participating in the sale are selections from the RX1* full-framer series and a gazillion different RX100 series models along with a couple of stray superzoom Cybershots…

But that’s not all. For fans of the E-system, they have over 80 instant savings options, too many to list here individually but you can easily peruse them and filter them over there…

Sony Instant Savings for May 2020 (152 options)

Sony fans, you have options. 152 options. These are part of the Sony Instant Savings for May 2020 that are currently up and running at B&H Photo. The sale includes various Sony FE and APS-C camera kits and combos. Obviously too many to list here individually…

New round of Sony Instant Savings (FE, APS-C, RX series)

If you are a fan of the way of Sony, there is a new Instant Savings promotion running at B&H Photo featuring a mix of full-frame and APS-C on the interchangeable lens front, and the RX-series on the fixed lens front. There are too many to list here individually, you need to hit “Load More” over there to see them all…

A rarity in the digital era, an APS-C iLC camera (yes, I know, it’s like saying “ATM machine”) that refuses to die! The Sony a6000 is still alive and kicking and as of the time of writing the new condition a6000 with the 16-50mm power zoom kit lens is on sale for $484 with free shipping with up to three per customer at Amazon by Amazon itself

This is not a lightning deal, so I have no clue if/when the price will change…

Used Sony a6000 body (Very Good condition) for $279

IF however you are not interested in the previously mentioned Sony a6000 new condition kits and instead you can to optimize for a lower price, Adorama has the USED a6000 body only for $279 in “Used – Very Good” condition with a 90-day warranty (from Adorama).

Sony a6000 with extras: body for $398, w/16-50 for $448

The Sony Instant Savings promotion reminds us that you can get into the Sony APS-C E-system with a step-up series camera (A6xxx) for just $398. That’s right, the a6000 body only goes for $398 and the “with 16-50mm” kit goes for $448.

At Adorama you have to do some scrolling and paging up-n-down to find all the options but you will be rewards because the “with 16-50” kit gets more additional freebies (flex tripod, extra charger/battery, lens filters, better memory card) than the body only (bag, memory card, cleaning kit, software, card wallet). Note also that the camera is available in two color options, effectively doubling the number of options you have to sort through…

At B&H Photo you get a 32GB Sandisk Extreme, a 3rd-party battery and a camera bag, while the two lens kit ($598) gets a lens filter as well…

At Amazon, various 3rd-party sellers offer various freebies, a dizzying array of options as there are three official camera kits with two body colors for the camera and many 3rd party retailers 🙂

The names in the a6xx line-up are a bit confused, so confused that even the Wikipedia page is confused. The a6000 come out in 2014, followed by the a6300/a6500 in 2016, and the a6100/a6400/a6600 in 2019, all with 24mp Exmor APS-C CMOS sensors. The newer a6300 has already been discontinued but the a6000 continues as a current model. The all-new a6100 goes for $650 (body) or $750 (w/16-50)…

Sony a7 II with 28-70 and Various Freebies for $999

We all live in a yellow submarine but also in the era of the $1000 “take pictures with” 35mm full frame interchangeable lens camera in the Sony E-system with the Sony a7 II with the 28-70mm FE lens bundled together for $999 with various freebies offered by select retailers…

At Amazon for example, there is a bundle by Focus Camera that includes a Dolica tripod, Vanguard bag, 64GB Sandisk Extreme PRO, extra 3rd-party charger/battery, etc…

At B&H Photo you get a 64GB Sandisk Extreme, extra 3rd party battery, RJ bag, lens filter, etc…

At Adorama you get a 32GB Extreme PRO, Slinger bag, lens filter kit, etc…

At Best Buy you get a $25 Shutterfly store credit…

In-Stock Now: Sony a9 II body only!!!

Full frame sometimes means full wallet if you want to have top of the line features! If so, the new Sony a9 II full frame E-system mirrorless camera is now in-stock and ready to ship to your photographic hands for its starting price of $4498 at B&H Photo

As of the time of writing, Amazon is in the nebulous “temporarily out of stock” state, while Adorama says “coming soon”…

Wedn: Sony Cybershot W800 P&S camera (5x optical) for $50

Among the Hump Day Woot Electronics deals of the day is a sale on the new condition Sony Cybershot W800 P&S digital camera (20mp 1/2.3″ CCD, 5x optical zoom (26-130mm eq), Lion, 2.7″ LSD, microSD and MS Duo, etc) in the black color scheme going for $50 with free shipping for Prime members [you have to connect your Woot-Prime accounts ~ a one-time action] or $6 flat for the calendar day for non-members. The camera comes with a 90-day Woot warranty and you can buy up to ten per customer.

That’s $10 per optical zoom unit for those buying The Costco Way 😉

The aforementioned sale includes various other assorted electronics including the new condition Force1 U45WF Wi-Fi Camera Drone for $70, a Phantom 2 controller for $40, a couple of Rokus, a couple of gaming accessories, and more. The reason there are multiple items in a daily deal is because sometimes Woot groups together a “Plus” sale and offers it as a daily deal. I don’t know if the Plus sale will continue after the daily deal expires or it will disband or the items will join other sales and such…

If you missed yesterday’s $80 Chromebook, fear not! Woot Computers comes to the rescue with another one, this one is actually $79, it is the refurbished Dell Chromebook 11-3120 Notebook with the Intel N2840 2.16GHz Dual-Core processor, 4GB DDR3 [important these days], 16GB eMMC of on-board storage, 802.11ac, Bluetooth, etc. It comes with a 90-day Woot warranty. Limit up to ten per customer. Of interest if there’s rough usage for the laptop as it is a MIL-STD model.

IMPORTANT: now that Chromebooks have been around for quite a few years, a new twist/risk is raising it’s semi-ugly head. Google does not offer automated OS updates for platforms that are over 6.5 years old. Note that the clock starts ticking on the platform, not the individual laptop. So the clock for this device began ticking when the first Intel N2840 Chromebook came out. This particular model will get auto-updates until June 2020. Details at 11 or more conveniently at the Google Support page for ChromeOS devices 🙂

UPDATE: while we are on the topic of daily deals, one of the Amazon Gold Box deals of the day is yet another Anker sale featuring various charging products: powerbanks, cables, car and wall and wireless chargers…
