Exclusions and restrictions apply for both online and offline sales…

400GB Sandisk Ultra microSDXC (C10, A1) for $79

If your cameras or action cameras or smartphones or other devices take 400GB memory cards, as of the time of writing, Amazon herself is offering the new condition 400GB Sandisk Ultra micro SDXC (C10, A1) for $79 with free shipping. You can buy as many as you like [technically the limit is 20 but that’s more than enough for most people].

Pre-order the new Canon RP portable mirrorless full framer

It’s full frame mirrorless party! Canon has reveled a brand new full frame camera in their new mirrorless R system, a more “portable” camera, named so with the “RP” name, as in an R-system camera that is P-ortable! Pre-orders start at $1300 for the body only which is bundled with an EF-to-RF adapter (EF lenses on the new R bodies). Also, for a limited time during the pre-order festivities you can get your choice of a free Canon EG-E1 extension grip [this is not a battery grip]. The extension grip is available in your choice of body color.

All the aforementioned are available for pre-order at B&H Photo with a late February 2019 availability estimate.

Note that in the two kit bundles you see over-there there-are [“-” to prevent a double “there there” in a sentence] two different 24-105 lenses. The $1699 kit comes with the EF [yes, EF] 24-105mm f3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, while the $2199 kit comes with the RF 24-105mm f4L IS.

These are also available for pre-ordering at Adorama and also by Amaozn itself [note that the kits at Amazon are a bit confused, so pay attention to which option you are ordering]

In Europe, Amazon Germany has two kit options, both bundled with the EF-to-R adapter since that opens up a lot of lenses for the new R cameras. The body only (with adapter) goes for 1500 euro, while the kit with the adapter and the RF 24-105mm f4L IS lens goes for 2500 euro…

Woot Garage Sale

Woot is having another Garage sale. Think of it as a Woot-OFF but it happens horizontally in time instead of vertically. Not a perfect analogy, so let me simplify it: all the sale items are offered up immediately instead of a new one every few hours. This causes the more desirable items to sellout quickly, so it is a bit of a lottery ticket like Woot-OFFs.

Under Electronics, they had the Canon EF 70-200/2.8L IS II for $1260 with a 90-day Woot warranty with limit one per customer but it was sold-out when I noticed this new sale.

Under Computers, there’s a handful of Kindle Paperwhite e-readers of various generations in Scratch and Dent condition starting at $35. Reading is magical with e-readers, if you are reading text-only or text-mostly fiction and non-fiction.Not ideal for anime or engineering books or photography books or books full of pictures and such, but for text-only they are magical. Because reading is fun-da-mental!

PS: speaking of Canon, now I have to get in the habit of writing “EF” in Canon SLR lenses since they have their new full frame miRRoRless system 🙂

YMMV (Fry’s B&M): 20% off for first 25 customers twice a day

This is a very YMMV offer. IF you are physically near a Fry’s brick and mortar store, they are running a new type of a promotion so far this week. Twice a day, upon opening and at 5:30pm local time, the first 25 customers in line that mention the daily magic word (which can be found in their daily mailing list emails of course) get a coupon that is worth 20% off purchases of $299+ at the B&M store.

The Wednesday magic word is Get20Extra

Some products from some brands are excluded (Nikon, Sony, Samsung, Bose, LG, Tempurapedia) and of course gift cards are excluded. The maximum discount with the coupon is $1000, in other words, up to a $5000 purchase. If your purchase is over $5000 in eligible products, then you get a flat $1000 off discount.

PS: this post is also a traffic alert if your driving involves areas surrounding Fry’s B&M stores. Granted, it won’t be like Black Friday madness ~ probably.

Mon: Sigma 35mm f1.4 DG ART HSM for $749 (C/N/A/P and E)

If lenses are kings, it’s the Return of the King at the Monday B&H Photo daily deals with a lens leading the way. It is the new condition Shiguma 35mm f1.4 DG ART HSM lens going for $749 with free shipping in five different systems. Yes, there are at least four young mirrorless-generation of photographers: Canon, Nikon, Sony A, and Pentax K. The lens is also available for Sony E… I don’t know if it’s foreshadowing or a bad omen, but the lens has …404 customer reviews as of the time of rating 🙂

There’s two more items in the B&H daily deals, the MeFoto GlobeTrotter (not from Harlem through) Air Travel Tripod going for $50 in your choice from five trendy/trending color schemes of the pastel-inspired kind. There’s also a TP-Link smart-something thing…

Of potential interest to EU shoppers in the Monday Amazon Germany Gold Box, it’s the Huawei P20 going for 399 euro, the P Smart+ [mayhaps they didn’t think of the giggle-inducing name in casual-speak english] for 219 euro, and the 10.1-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A (T585) tablet with LTE going for 190 euro…

Meanwhile at the Woot website there’s yet another MacBook sale, some HP Pavilion desktops, and an Android blast from the past with an unlocked Droid Turbo 2 smartphone…

CreativeLIVE coupon: 50% off one class

This is a make your own sale type of a coupon promotion at Creative LIVE. Use coupon code 50OFF to get 50% off one class over there. The promotion expires before FEBR-16 at midnight. Unfortunately that’s what it says, so I don’t know if that means 11:59pm or 12:01am 🙂 Restrictions apply as usual…

Dxo PhotoLAB 2 for $110

If you are a fan of the DxO software, they are running a Valentine’s promotion (in other words, it ends at the end of Valentine’s day, aka FEB-14), you can get the DXo PhotoLaB 2 software for $110 or the Elite version for $170…

Also part of the sale is the FilmPack 5 for $70 and the ViewPoint 3 for $70… The Elite editions of the aforementioned software cost more [as it is often the case with these type of things]…

PSA: KEH Camera website remodel/redesign

You are not imaging things. The KEH website looks different indeed! That’s because there is a website remodel/redesign, and as per the rotating ticker on their site over there, they are actively looking for feedback on the new design, especially if you are having problems…

With so many viewports these days with desktops, laptops, 4K screens, AiOs, tablets, smartphones of all sizes, 2-in-1s, browsers of all sorts, etc, etc, etc, it’s a herculean task for a website design to cover all bases. Thus the request for feedback 🙂

Dell’s Presidents Day Preview sale

Black Friday begins in September these days, so of course Presidents Day sales begin before Valentine’s. And Valentine’s sales begin before the SuperBOWL 🙂 Anyways, the Dell website is running a Preview sale featuring an assortment of laptops, desktops, AiOs, mortal computer monitors and UltraSharps, and some TVs for good measure…

But that’s not all. When you scan through the page you will also notice an Intel Optane promotion that gets you a $100 VISA gift card with the purchase of select systems.

What is Intel Optane? Wikipedia does not have a good page on it, but the search engines are your friend, here’s what Duck Duck Go finds… In case you are looking to do a “Seven Days challenge” like the Gizmodo journalist tried [via Techmeme]…

CL: up to 60% off Fashion Photography classes

CreativeLIVE is running another limited time sale, this one gets you up to 60% off select Fashion Photography classes. The price you see is the price you pay.

If you are not fond of paying though, CreativeLIVE has you covered as well. You can watch for FREE select classes when they are streaming live at the ON-AIR LIVE page. There is a detailed schedule over there, with world premiers clearly marked… A variety of topics are coming up in the next week, from heavy wedding focus [it’s Valentine’s after all] to wine tasting. Wine tasting vs ISO comparisons, are they really the same thing? 😉

Speaking of world premieres, if you are a fan of bird photography, save the date! March 20 is the live free-to-watch world premiere of Frans Lanting’s “The art of photographing birds”. This classes will decidedly be more useful than my work-in-progress class “Bird Posing 101” 😉

Free Tripod with select Nikon f2.8 zoom lenses

If you are a fan of Nikon-branded lenses and tripods, you are in luck! For a limited time, Adorama is running a free Tripod with select Nikon lenses promotion. The free tripod depends on which lens you buy. The MeFoto Roadtrip tripod is free with either the Nikkor 14-24/2.8G or the 24-70/2.8G, while the Fotopro X-Go is free with either the 24-70/2.8E or the 70-200/2.8E… So the aforementioned G lenses get the MeFoto while the aforementioned E lenses get the Fotopro…

EU: 128GB Sandisk Ultra SDXC for 20 euro

Amazon Germany is back with more Sandisk memory card sales! These are limited time offers but they are not tied to the daily deals [which occur in the German time zone], so the expiration date/time is unknown to me…

We start with the SDXC memory cards, their new condition 128GB Ultra SDXC (C10, UHS-I, up to 80MB/sec) is on sale for just 20 euro. This is sold and shipped by Amazon itself and it is available in your choice of frustration-free packaging or standard packaging. The limit is up to five per customer at the sale price. Not sure if you can buy five of each packaging, or five total.

Next up we move to the microSD cards. The new condition 200GB Ultra microSDXC (A1, C10, U1) goes for 33 euro with up to five per customer. This defeats the 128GB for 23 euro in terms of $/GB. You pay less than 50% more, but you get more than 50% in extra storage…

Or if you can to solve for a lower price, the new condition 128GB Transcend microSDXC (C10, UHS-I) goes for the very specific price of 18.79 euro per customer…

MicroSD is not just for smartphones any more as the number of digital cameras (including a few iLCs eg Panasonic GX800) take the microSD cards. Most of them include full-size SD adapters, or you probably already have a drawer full of them from previous memory card purchases…

Digital Photo PRO for $7 per year [print magazine]

This weekend’s DiscountMAGs sale includes two printed photography magazines, Digital Photo PRO for $7 per year [a very good price] and “Outdoor Photographer” for $5 per year [the “default” sale price]… You can sign up for up to three years per magazine at the per-year sale price… This also works for gift-subscriptions and renewals of existing ones… This is good only for US postal addresses and these are printed magazines, not digital… No auto-renewals, they only renew if you manually renew them…

Refurbished sale at Adorama (120+ options)

If you are a fan of refurbished camera gear, Adorama is currently running a limited time refurbished sale featuring 120+ products, a number of which is manufacturer refurbished Nikons. About half of them are Nikons, the rest are from a variety of brands including Sigma, Epson, Wacom, etc…

The coupon ends on Friday at 11:59pm eastern… AS usual, their shopping cart is the ultimate decider on what qualifies for the coupon. You can test the coupon by adding items of interest in the cart and entering le couponeaux. You don’t have to signup/login to test the coupon…

Friday: Fuji Instax Mini 9 for $40, Etc

Until someone comes up with smartphones that include a built-in film camera [who knows, the industry is in an exploratory mood these days], instant film cameras have not much to fear from smartphones ~ unlike the decimated army of digital cameras. Which brings us to the Best Buy daily deals where four different color schemes of the Fujifilm (Fuji for digital, Fujifilm for film) Instax Mini 9 is on sale for $40 with free shipping or free store pickup where available/possible…

Not far from B&H, the latest Adorama snapshot deal is the new condition offered for $159 with free shipping. Snapshot deals are almost like daily deals ~ they are of limited time…

Further away, at the Woot website a $70 Raspberry bundle includes a 32GB Sandisk microSD card with it..

Camera Guides sale at CL (many options)

If you are a fan of camera guides to be presented on video instead of reading them in a book, CreativeLIVE is currently having a sale (the price you see is the price you pay) on their Camera Guides, which they call “Fast Starts”. Many fan-favorite cameras have classes on them, not just Canon and Nikon and Sony [as expected] but also Fuji and Olympus and Leica and Panasonic. But nothing for PenTax. Mayhaps they don’t believe in taxing pens? ^_^

CL coupon: $20 off Bundles and Conferences

For a limited time, coupon code BUNDLE20 gets you 20% off Bundles and Conferences at CreativeLIVE. Bundles are groupings of classes under one photographic umbrella (ha!), such as Photoshop, Night Photography, Beginners, Lighting, Architecture, Portraiture, Weddings of course, Foodies, Outdoorsies, etc.

B&H Depth of Field Show Specials and Deals

To go with the 2019 Depth of Field online conference, B&H Photo is also running a number of DoF Show Specials, nicely organized in six broad categories. There are over 75 options in Cameras and over 240 options in Lenses, with more in the other categories…
