Canon 70D body with 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM + refurb 430 EX III-RT Flash for $900

If of all the Canon APS-C DSLRs out there it is the Canon 70D the one you want, the Canon USA Outlet store has a Black Friday 70D bundle which is in-stock as of the time of writing and includes the 70D body only, the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens, the Speedlite 430EX III-RT Refurbished along with a gadget bag and 8GB card for $900 with free shipping.

Only the flash is refurbished, the camera and lens are new condition. When you click on their little blue links in the bundle, they take you to the new condition pages of the 70D and 70-30mm.

PS: another option is the manufacturer refurbished 70D with 18-135 IS STM for $790. No flash here though.

Canon Outlet Black Friday sales

The official Canon USA store too has launched their Black Friday sales! I totally forgot about them! I will be digging into them and spotlighting select features. Their new condition sales are mostly similar to what you find at authorized Canon dealers but they have exclusive access to their own manufacturer refurbished!

YI M1 with 12-40 and 42.5/.18 for $349 [m43]

The YI 42.5mm f1.8 macro lens for $100 offer expired, but there is a new discount on the YI M1 two lens kit (with 12-40, 42.5mm f1.8) dropping from $379 to $350 in the black or silver color schemes. This is not a lightning deal. If you don’t need it immediately, since YI is a frequent participant in the Gold Box Lightning Deals, it may show up there at some point(s) during this Holiday shopping season. This is only speculation, I have no way of knowing either way ahead of time.

PS: but that’s not all, there are many Micro Four Thirds sales and more when Olympus unveils their Outlet store specials. As of the time of writing all the refurbished products are gone. Maybe they are saving them for Cyber Monday?

Woot OFF at Sellout; also $5 flat shipping until Monday night

Woot has a trio of Woot-OFFs for Black Friday, the only one that could have camera/tech related gear is the Woot Sellout Woot-OFF (renamed Woot Holiday)… Meanwhile one of the day-long deals are refurbished Pixels (first gen; with headphone jack) starting at $330.

They also have some longer running deals, headlined among the Electronics by the previously mentioned half a dozen Canon DSLRs and a superzoom.

If you are a Prime member, AND you have either the Amazon Chase Prime VISA credit card, or the Prime Store credit card, AND you purchase eligible products participating in the promotion you will receive a whopping 20% back as a statement credit on your credit card. You get the usual 5% plus a 15% bonus cashback, making it 20% total. The six eligible categories include Electronics, but it’s only a subset of all products that are eligible. Rakuten has a “make your own deal” type of a Black Friday! Coupon code BF20 gets you 20% off almost everything at their website. The usual exclusions apply (cash-equivalent items not eligible, some brands don’t allow coupons, some products cannot be legally discounted, etc). eBay launches Black Friday Ads “Meet or Beat” page

eBay is innovating too in the ever-changing world of Black Friday madness. They have now launched a Black Friday Price Matching page where they meet or beat some of the advertised offers from the Black Friday ads. As of the time of writing, there are 88 listings there, a few of them are tech items, but no camera gear. I will monitor it (on a time permitting basis) to see if anything pops up.

Speaking of eBay and price-matching, the official BOSE eBay store has price-matched their own Black Friday offers 🙂

Update on Amazon Lightning Deals Coverage

It looks like this is the new way Amazon is doing teasers of lightning deals. Previously they gave us a 20+ hour heads-up in the Gold Box. Now the maximum future visibility we all have is four hours. More specifically four hours from the top of the hour, so it’s somewhere between 3-4 hours depending on when you check.

This means I can no longer do the nightly schedule posts because I can only “see” 3-4 hours ahead instead of 20+ hours.

Instead, I started using a brand new Gold Box tag (Bookmark This if you like; there’s also a link to it in the Blog Sidebar). I am using this blog tag to mark all the posts that talk about Amazon Lightning Deals, so you when you string them all together, you see the latest lightning deal posts.
