Sunday can mean new instant savings promotions as Sunday is the beginning of a new “retail” week/month/etc. Sony has launched a new round of instant savings promotion on a variety of their gear, which you can find nicely organized at B&H Photo. Among the items on sale are a trio of their full frame cameras: the a9 for $4200, the a7r II for $2000 and the a7s II for $2200.

The silver lining good news of today’s update of the Stock Status Tracker is that the Amazon estimates for both the sony a7 III body only and the a7 III w/28-70 have “improved” from “1 to 2 months” to “2 to 5 weeks”. This is still a nebulous estimate, so keep that in mind if you need the camera by a specific date.
The new condition Sony a6000 body only APS-C mirrorless camera goes for $500 at authorized Sony USA dealers such as Adorama but if you are comfortable with used, you can get it in “Used – Like New” condition for $369~ at Amazon Warehouse Deals (AWD) thanks to a 20% off in-cart discount. This link shows other sellers as well for comparison.

The Sony a7 III body only is expected to arrive April 10 for $2000 [follow Stock Status Tracker for updates on that one]. But if you prefer to get the previous generation model, the a7 II body only, it goes for $1300 on its own, but B&H Photo is currently bundling it with the Sony battery grip for $1396 with free expedited shipping. This is the official Sony battery grip, model VGC2EM, not a 3rd-party grip. The grip on its own goes for $250.

Sony has plenty of 35mm full frame cameras [see 35mm full frame price charts] but that’s not stopping them from revealing a brand new model! The Sony a7 III body only is now an official product and pre-orders of it will begin on Wednesday 2/28/18 at 11am eastern at authorized Sony dealers.
The starting price is $2000 for the body only, and $2200 for the kit with the 28-70mm lens. A listing for the camera is available at B&H Photo and Adorama with the pre-ordering option activating on Wednesday at 11am eastern.
This has been added to the New Cameras of 2018 tracking page and has given mirrorless cameras a 7-1 lead over DSLRs in 2018.
With the release of the new Sony a7r III, the a7r II body only dropped in price, currently going for $2400 [see 35mm Full Frame Price Charts], but that’s not all, Adorama is bundling it with a FREE Flashpoint Zoom Li-on R2 TTL On-Camera Flash Speedlight for Sony, together going for the same authorized dealer price of $2400 with free expedited shipping. This too is part of their WPPI specials.

We continue our Full Frame price-checking with the entry-point into the Sony 35mm FF a-series. The a7 body only dropped to $800 with the early February Sony instant savings wave, while the “take pictures with” kit with the 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS dropped to $1000.
Fast forward to now, and the a7 with 28-70mm is getting a pretty useful freebie from Adorama, for the same price of $1000 they also include the new condition Rode Microphones VideoMic Pro R Cardioid Condenser Microphone with Rycote Lyre Shock Mount.
The mic on its own goes for $230, eg B&H Photo and Amazon itself, so that’s a pretty good value!
The Sony Instant Savings of early February gave us plenty of Sony lens discounts and also Sony camera discounts but that’s not all. Some of the discounted cameras are also getting freebies now.
One such discounted camera was the Sony a7r II which is now down to $2400. It went for $2900 during our November 2017 Price charts. A $500 price drop, part of it of course because of the new $3200 a7r III.
