Refurbished Nikon D810 Body for $1997

Ooooops, this got buried in yesterday’s Nikon D850 pre-announcement and I forgot to post it separately, but forgot no more! If you need a Nikon 35mm full frame DSLR now in the D8XX series, you don’t want to wait to see what the D850 will bring, and you don’t want to pay the big bucks for it, Adorama is offering the manufacturer refurbished Nikon D810 body only for $1997 with free expedited shipping. The new condition D810 goes for $2800 at authorized dealers.

Another alternative if you want an FX DSLR now but don’t want to wait or pay new-condition older-generation price, the manufacturer refurbished Nikon Df with 50mm f1.8G Special for $1795 with free shipping at Adorama.

Manufacturer refurbished Nikon camera gear at Adorama come with a 90-day Nikon USA warranty.

All these of course are luxuries, because the Nikon D40 is the only DSLR you’ll ever need πŸ™‚

Refurbished Nikon D5300 Body w/90-day warranty for $380

If you are looking for a Nikon APS-C camera body in the D5XXX series and don’t want/need the kit lenses that typically come bundled with it, and if you are comfortable with manufacturer refurbished DSLRs that come with a 90-day warranty from Nikon USA, then you can get the manufacturer refurbished Nikon D5300 body only for $380 at Adorama or if you have eBay gift cards or eBay Bucks to spend, you can get it from Adorama on eBay (limit two per buyer).

Speaking of manufacturer refurbished Nikon DSLR gear, Adorama has 30+ of them on sale, a mix of DSLRs, lenses and Coolpixies.

Speaking of Nikon, Adorama has bundled with additional free accessories on select new condition Nikon Lenses (nine options, mix of primes and zooms).

Coming UP: Nikon D850 Full Frame DSLR

As part of the 100 Year Nikon Anniversary festivities, Nikon officially announced that a new 35mm full frame DSLR is coming. It will be the D850, and it will replace the D810. More details on the D850 will be announced at a later date per Nikon.

UPDATE: a placeholder page has been created for the camera at B&H Photo. More details as they get revealed by Nikon…

Nikon released a “hype video” for the D850, YouTube-embedded below:

DECISION MAKING PROCESS CHANGING after D850

So this changes the decision making progress for anyone interested in getting a 35mm full frame Nikon DSLR. As you can see in the Full Frame Cameras Price Chart, Nikon full frame DSLRs range from $1500 to $8000. The D810 that will be replaced by the D850 goes for $2800, while the Df is at $2750. The D810A (astro) goes for $3800.

So, strategically this means, if you are willing to pony up money for a brand new Df or D810, you night as well wait and see what the D850 will offer and how much will it cost.

On the other hand, if you need a 35mm full frame DSLR at the Df/D810 level right now and don’t want to wait for an anniversary pig in an anniversary poke, going the manufacturer refurbished route for the Df and the D810 seems like a reasonable financial and cameraholic decision versus buying them in new condition at full price.

That’s because the manufacturer refurbished prices are decidedly lower than the new condition:

+ manufacturer refurbished Nikon Df with 50mm f1.8G Special for $1795 at Adorama

+ manufacturer refurbished Nikon D810 body only for $1997 at Adorama

PS: this is blog-certified to be Tokina, not Tamron; this is blog-certified to be f2, not f2.8 [this is now needed after my Fuji 35mm confusion] πŸ™‚

Tamron SP 150-600mm f5-6.3 Di VC USD for $869 (C/N/A)

If you are not tempted by the latest generation Tamron 150-600mm in the previously mentioned Tamron Solar Eclipse offer for Canon, Nikon and Sony A systems, and you instead prefer the first generation of the lens, without any solar eclipse accessories…

… then you can get the new condition Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD for $869 with free shipping in the Canon, Nikon and Sony A systems at B&H Photo (with 4% promotional rewards) and at Amazon by Amazon itself (limit 3 per mount per customer; 5% back for Prime members paying with Prime cards)…

If you want to use the first generation lens for solar eclipse purposes, you can always purchase the appropriate filters and glasses separately. Or Nikon shooters can get the ready-made bundle from B&H Photo (only freebie are the $5 glasses vs buying lens + filter separately).

Tamron 150-600mm Solar Eclipse Bundle (with Marumi 95mm Filter) for $1499

If you are looking for solar eclipse bundles, B&H Photo has a limited time Tamron promotion that bundles the Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 lens with the Tamron Marumi 95mm DHG ND-100000 Solid Neutral Density 5.0 Solar Eclipse Filter (16.5 Stops) and a 5-pk of solar eclipse glasses, all together for $1499 with free expedited shipping.

The lens goes for $1399 on its own, and the Marumi filter goes for $299 on its own, so you are getting a $200 combined purchase discount. The glasses are just $5, so they are a rounding error considering the price πŸ™‚

The above link points to the Canon version, but this offer is also available for the Sony A version and the Nikon F version.

PRO TIP: if you are not familiar with the B&H Photo website, locate the “In the Box” section on the right hand side of their website, further down, to see what items are included with your purchase. They typically do a great job of showing the accessories by the manufacturer and then the items/accessories that may be included as a bundle or “free with purchase” promotions.

If you don’t want/need the Marumi filter, the lens without the two “solar accessories” is bundled with typical lens-y free accessories at Adorama (Corel software, filter kit, etc).
