Used Nikon 70-300mm f4.5-6.3G ED DX non-VR for $120

Continuing to dig into the Bargain Bin, as of the time of writing, there is one listing of the Used Nikon 70-300mm f4.5-6.3G ED DX non-VR lens, in “Used – Like New” condition [no further details given] going for $120~ with free shipping by Amazon Warehouse Deals itself.

This lens currently goes for $350 on its own in new condition, but it’s frequently bundled with more recent Nikon DSLR two lens kit, so the $350 price is a bit misleading in terms of its effective street market price.

Imported Tamron 24-70 f2.8 Di VC USD for $690 [C/N]

The first generation new condition Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD goes for $1100 at authorized dealers which can include some free accessories such as Adorama.

But if you are a more adventurous shopper, then to the eBay Deals we go, where eBay seller “QuickNDone” (99.9%) is offering the lens in new condition for $690 with free shipping in the Nikon system. Per the listing, the sale ends 9/20/17.

UPDATE: they also offer this in the Canon EF system for the same price.

Further down the product listing, under “Warranty” it says that you get either a 1-Year Tamron International warranty or a 6-Year Tamron Canada warranty, depending on location. They also offer a 30-day return policy.

This is a higher risk than buying in new condition from authorized Tamron USA dealers, that’s one of the reasons for the lower price. I believe “QuickNDone” is a Canadian seller.

Nikon D850 Body gets a September 7 release estimate

Keep in mind, release estimates of new camera gear can sometimes be finicky and can obviously change as time goes by. So with that disclaimer out of the way…

… we have began a full update of the Stock Status Tracker and as of this update…

… the Amazon listing for the Nikon D850 body only shows a September 7 in 2017 release estimate for the camera.

To make sure I’m not hallucinating, here’s a screenshot 🙂

According to Amazon’s Best Seller charts, this is the #1 seller among New Release digital cameras. Keep in mind, the Amazon best seller lists are only as good as the product categories different products are put in. If someone fat-fingers a coffee machine under cameras, it will show in the best sellers 🙂

Refurbished Nikon D810 body for $2199

The new Nikon D850 is coming later this year for $3300 [see Stock Tracker for options]. The existing Nikon D810 goes for $2800 in new condition at authorize dealers…

… but if you prefer to get it refurbished from an A-list dealer, you can get it refurbished at B&H Photo for $2199 with free shipping with a 90-day warranty (I think the warranty is from B&H, not Nikon).

Strategically, it’s not a bad idea, if you are going for the previous generation model, to get it refurbished or used, when the price difference between the new condition models is closer. Of course this is all relative, and one’s individual preferences and priorities vary, so there’s no one size fits all type of answer.

The Nikon D850 is now a real product, available for pre-order for $3300, and it has already been added to the Stock Status Tracker.

On Monday 8/28/17 at 1pm Eastern (10am Pacific), a panel of four, including two Nikon Ambassadors will be talking about the camera.

On Tuesday 8/29/17 at 6pm Eastern (3pm pacific), a panel of six, including the one and only Joe McNally, will be having a hands-on with the D850 live, with both stills and video experts in the panel.

Pre-order new Nikon D850 Body Only FF DSLR

Wallets open wide. Open ALL the frames in your wallet. The Nikon full frame DSLR that was promised is now a real product. The Nikon D850 body only is officially announced and pre-orders are accepted for $3300 at authorized dealers including B&H Photo and Adorama and Amazon itself.

With this new addition, the DSLRs take an 8-7 lead versus Mirrorless cameras among the New Cameras of 2017. But the score is far from settled, IFA is just around the corner. There is no Photokina this year since it is an odd-numbered year [and a very odd year to boot], so announcements may be spread out more evenly among the remaining Trade Shows.

In a surprisingly fast move (for this blog these days), the Nikon D850 has also just been added to the Stock Status Tracker. This is the fastest I’ve ever added a camera to the tracker 🙂

More eBay Deals action, the BuyDig eBay store is offering the manufacturer refurbished Nikon D7200 body only for $680 with free shipping and a 90-day Nikon USA warranty with a limit of up to five units per customer.

The new condition D7200 body only goes for $1000 at authorized dealers, which are allowed to include free accessories, such as Amazon and Adorama.

Since the D7500 is the latest model, currently going for $1250 in new condition in body only [see Stock Status Tracker], it’s probably a good idea to go refurbished if you are buying the previous generation (almost half the price of D7500), instead of getting a new D7200 that’s only $250 away from the D7500. But of course it’s your decision 🙂
