Blog Update: WordPress Theme Issues

Of all the times in the year, WordPress decided to go bonkers a week before Black Friday. There are issues with the current WordPress theme, so I switched back to the old one until they get sorted out! That will teach me not to update to a new version of a theme or WordPress the moment it appears 🙂

If you have any problems accessing the website, please leave a comment here or use the online contact form.

As a backup, you can use the Feedburner RSS feed which is not dependent on the theme and it is hosted separately by Feedburner.

You can also check the latest deals summary at the Black Friday 2017 Situation Room – this is a separate WordPress installation with a different web hosting company. It’s the poor blogger equivalent of a fault tolerant system 🙂

PRO WORDPRESS TIP: always have at least one backup WordPress theme in cases like this. Preferably a theme from a different company, so if, for example, the WordPress default themes go down in flames, you can go back to something that doesn’t depend on them, in our case it’s a Genesis theme.

Given that most cameras come with a 1-year manufacturer warranty anyway, you are getting the same duration as KEH, and some, depending on their experience dealing with manufacturer warranties (just read some of the Samsung never-ending warranty stories), would argue that they’ll get better warranty service from KEH than the manufacturer.

YMMV PayPal Coupon: $10 off a $50+ eBay order

If you are subscribed to PayPal offers by email (I think this is on by default, you’d have to manually turn it on their settings), they have sent today personalized email coupon codes for $10 off an eBay order of $50+ that is paid with PayPal (is there any other way to pay these days?). The coupon is a long mess of characters and numbers, which means it is unique for each customer, that’s why I’m not posting it here.

Coupon expires 11/22/17, and has the usual coupon exclusions.

IF you are eligible for this, it can be a perfect couponing storm, because running until Thursday night is a 8% eBay Bucks promotion (YMMV on who’s eligible) and running until Monday AM is a 20% off eBay coupon promotion.

I believe all three should be stackable because the PayPal coupon is a payment coupon (PayPal checkout coupon), while the eBay coupon is a purchase (eBay shopping cart) coupon. The rewards happen regardless of whether you use any coupons as long as you activate them before making purchases.

Olympus f1.8 M43rds Portrait (75mm and 45mm) for $900

We already mentioned the $700 Olympus Travel Lens Kit (17/1.8 and 14-150/4-5.6 II), but Olympus also has another official lens kit, this one goes for $900 and it is the Portrait Kit, it bundles two f1.8 primes, the 75mm f1.8 and the 45mm f1.8.

The $900 Portrait Kit is currently available at Adorama and B&H Photo (with $36~ promotional rewards) and by various at Amazon ($45 statement credit if paid with Prime VISA).

Individually, the 45mm f1.8 goes for $300 at authorized dealers (eg Amazon), or you can get it as low as $174 refurbished.

Individually, the 75mm f1.8 goes for $900 at authorized dealers, eg B&H Photo (with $36~ promotional rewards).

So with this promotion, based on the current prices, you are essentially getting the 45mm f1.8. The Portrait Kit also includes matching barrel lens cases and hoods for the two lenses. The lenses are obviously of different size, and so are their cases and hoods.

1-Year Dropbox Plus Subscription + $25 Promo eGift Card for $60

Dell Small Business is off to the Black Friday races with a cloud-busting deal. They are offering 1-Year Annual Dropbox PLUS subscription for $60 and with that you also receive a $25 promotional Dell e-Gift Card within 20 days after purchasing.

Dropbox Plus gets you 1TB of storage for one year for one user. They support all the major platforms including Linux. I do not know if this offer can be appended to an existing Dropbox paid subscription.

The $25 promo e-gift card can only be spent at Dell, and usually within 90 days upon receipt. That’s why it’s a promotional e-gift card instead of a regular gift card.

PS: speaking of clouds, Stacksocial offers the 2TB Lifetime Zoolz Cloud Storage for $40 instead of its usual price of $50. The 2TB are broken into 1TB of Instant Storage and 1TB of Cold Storage.
