Friday: iPad PRO (2021, new condition) for $660+

In new condition, and with a 1-year Apple warranty, we find the headliner Woot deal of the day for Friday September 8 in 2023! It is a new condition 2021 iPad PRO sale including both the 11″ and 12.9″ models!

The 11″ Wifi-only starts at $660 and goes up to $850, while the “with cellular” option ranges from $770 to $920. They come with a case.

The 12.9″ Wifi-only starts at $860 and goes up to $950, while the “with cellular” option ranges from $980 to $1020.

Or you can buy twenty 7-inch budget Android tablets πŸ˜‰

MEANwhile the headliner Creative LIVE ON-AIR class for Friday is a “Fast Class”, a condensed version of a class in about 60 minutes. The topic is “Minimalist Photography” with Canadian Curtis Jones.

Pre-order the new Samsung Galaxy TAB S9 tablets with some discount offers

In addition to the previously mentioned Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 pre-orders, Samsung has also launched their new TAB S9 flagship tablet in three flavors. The base model starting at $800, the Plus starting at $1000 and the Ultra starting at $1200 for the Wifi-only versions. Thankfully the naming is consistent with their S-series smartphone flagships πŸ™‚

The official Samsung website has various pre-order and trade-in and financing offerings, and offers a free storage upgrade as follows:

+ 11-inch S9 base model from 8GB/128GB to 12GB/256GB
+ this is the most impactful free upgrade as both RAM and storage go up

+ 12.4″ S9 Plus with 12GB RAM, from 256GB to 512GB

+ 14.6″ S9 Ultra with 12GB RAM, from 256GB to 512GB

+ carrier options are available for the Plus model

$50 pre-order discount for the S9 Base and Plus models
If you don’t qualify or you are not interested or the dizzying Samsung website turns you off, B&H Photo is offering a $50 off in-cart discount, in addition to the free storage upgrade as follows:

+ 11-inch Tab S9 Base (Wifi only) with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage for $750 after in-cart pre-order discount
+ the little tab at the B&H page incorrectly says 16GB instead of 12GB
+ the product description correctly says 12GB
+ Samsung does NOT make a 16GB version, so no matter how much one can “Karen it”, they can’t get a 16GB version πŸ˜‰

+ 12.4″ TAB S9 Plus (Wifi-only) with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage for $950 after in-cart pre-order discount

+ as of the time of writing the 14.6″ TAB S9 Ultra is not listed at the B&H website

+ optionally, when you click on the “Build a Bundle” you can get a combined purchase discount if you buy it together with the Samsung Slim Book Cover Keyboard

+ the S-PEN is included with all the TAB S9 models (as it should)

Amazon Fire 11 MAX tablet for $150+ [save extra 20% off w/eligible trade-in]

I’m really posting this deal just so I can say that Amazon takes tablets more seriously than Google itself, who is supposed to be the Mother and Guardian of All Things Android πŸ™‚

As part of the Prime Dayz festivities, Amazon is offering its brand new Fire MAX 11 tablet for $150 for Prime members. Or you can buy a bundle with the official Keyboard Case for $240, or for $10 more, you can get it with Keyboard Case + Stylus. This has 64GB with Lockscreen Ads.

But Wait, You Pay Even LESS
But this is actually an even better deal if you are willing to make a trade-in. Amazon offers a 20% off trade-in credit on the purchase price of an eligible trade-in, plus the trade-in value. If you have connected Amazon devices on your account, it will automatically show you the trade-in price. For example, it showed me $5 for a prehistoric Kindle with Keyboard. You can also search for eligible devices in the Trade-IN box over there.

The benefit of this offer is not the trade-in value, but the extra 20% off on the purchase price of the new MAX 11 tablet. The MAX 11 becomes $120, while the Keyboard Case + Stylus bundle becomes $200! Minus the trade-in value of your device as well.

In other words, if you have any old(er) Amazon hardware you don’t need, you can turn it into a solid discount!

+ HYTE Y40 S-Tier Aesthetic Panoramic Tempered Glass ATX Mid-Tower Gaming Computer Case for $130 in two color options

The Memorial Day sale is over, so Amazon has resurrected the good old Gold Box where the headliner is a Samsung Tablets sale featuring the Tab S7 FE for $470 in various color schemes, and the A7 Lite for $105 in two color schemes.

Thur: 10.1″ Fire HD 10 tablet for $90 [2021, 32GB, 1080p]

Both the B&H Photo dailies [check the previous post], and the Adorama dailies remain the same as before for Thursday 4/13/23…

Once upon a time tablets were a thing of wonder, I remember getting excited about a …Pandigital Android 2.1 (IIRC) tablet that was on a big sale at Radio Shack close to $100. Performance was a Jedi training session in patience πŸ™‚

Now tablets have become normal and normalized and very utilitarian. Especially if you live in the Amazon media ecosystem (Prime videos, music, e-books, etc), today’s the day because they are offering the new condition 10-inch Fire HD 10 tablet (2021 model, 32GB storage, 1080p) for $90, with up to two per customer at the sale price!

This is available in four color schemes, making it easier if you have multiple of these in the same household – the gear color-coding theory! This is the model with the Lockscreen Ads. Or you can select it without, and that’s a +$15, making it $105.

PS: if you buy the Lockscreen Ads option, you can also remove the ads in the future by paying a one-time fee.

PS2: keep in mind, this does not support the Google Play store. You use Amazon’s own App Store (TM Apple LOL).

PS3: if you want to fill up your new FireHD tablet or any other Kindle e-reader or any other device that has a Kindle app, Amazon is running a Must Reads ebook sale with 130+ options. This is separate from their Kindle daily deals

Thursday: refurb 10″ Surface GO w/Surface Type cover & STM Case for $160+

The “Computers” deal of the day among the Woot dailies for Thursday 9/15/22 is refurbished 10-inch Microsoft Surface GO tablets bundled with the Surface Type Cover and an STM Dux rugged case, ranging from $160 (4GB RAM, 64GB storage) to $260 (8GB RAM, 128GB storage). They come with a 90-day Woot warranty. Up to ten per customer.

The price is definitely right (since you get the official Type cover as well) if you want to explore SurfaceLandia without breaking the bank or risking a bigger amount.

Tuesday: refurb 10.5″ iPad PRO (64GB, 2017, 90-day) for $200

Since Google/Android and Microsoft/Windoze have more or less abandoned tablets, you can be forgiven for living in a Windows/Android/Linux/ChromeOS world and having an iPad tablet πŸ˜‰

Good for Tuesday 8/30/22 Woot is offering the refurbished 10.5″ iPad PRO (2017, 64GB) for $200 with a 90-day Woot warranty. Three color options available. Up to ten per customer, so everyone in the household gets one, so you can share accessories and charging stations πŸ˜‰

The rest of the Tuesday Woot daily deals have random Dell tower pcs on sale (that’s what it says) and Saucany running shoes ($52 to $109) and under “Clearance” a charging devices sale with seven options, $7 to $30 for the 7-in-1 critter…

Now accepting pre-orders: iPad Airs (M1 chip)

If you are looking to buy the new M1 chipped iPad Airs, we have good news for you, B&H Photo is now accepting pre-orders, starting at $599…

We broke down the various options in our earlier post

iPad Airs with M1 chip: NO pre-orders yet

The star of the Apple March 2022 announcement were the previously mentioned MAC Studios but for fans of the M1 chip and iPads, they had some great news as well, as the fifth generation of the 10.9-inch iPad Air is getting the M1 processor now!

iPad Air (M1 chip) Pre-Orders NOT available
Pre-orders are not available yet (as of the time of writing) but you can plan ahead by perusing the detailed listing at B&H Photo. There are five color options this time, a sign that Apple is expecting a lot of sales and upgrades.

Prices start at $599 with (a rather miserable for the price) 64GB of storage. An extra +$150 takes you to 256GB of storage, but there is no 128GB option in-between. If you want 5G as well, that’s a +$150 as well. In other words, the top iPad Air is $899.

Compare to M1 iPad PROs of 2021
If you cannot wait for the Airs, or you are not mesmerized by their features/specs, let’s take a look at the existing iPad PROs that came out in 2021 with the M1 chip.

The 11-inch iPad PRO models start at $749 but with 128GB of on-board storage. 5G is a +$200. Storage options go up to 2TB, with the 256GB and 512GB steps being +$150 each.

The 12.9-inch iPad PRO models start at $999 with 128GB storage. 5G is +$200. Somehow storage is more expensive (!) on this model, with the 256GB being +$200 and the 512GB being +$300. Apple tax on top of the Apple tax πŸ™‚

BUT that’s not all. Optionally you can add Apple Care for +$129/$149, and the Magical Mystical Supernatural Super Serious Sweet Delirious Magic Keyboard for +$299/$340. Higher prices for the 12.9″ models…

New iPad Air (4th generation, 2020) down to $559

The starting price of the new iPad Air (4th generation, 2020 model, 10.9″, Wifi-only, 64GB on-board) is $599 but for a limited time B&H Photo is offering the green color scheme for $559. This is not a leafy dark green, more of a soothing pastel pistachio-ice-cream green.

Interesting to note how the “storage steps” have gone with Apple. With this model, there are two steps, 64GB and 256GB and the difference is +$150 because now Apple considers the jump from 64GB to 128GB a “half stop” ($50), while the jump from 128GB to 256GB remains a “full stop” ($100).

The cellular option (4G LTE) is the usual +$130…

With Google and manufacturers ignoring Android tablets (Chromebooks are the new tablets seems to be good enough for Google these days) even Apple haters had and have been turning to iPads πŸ™‚

12.9″ iPad PRO (2018, 256GB, Wifi-only) for $899

If you are not tempted by the 2020 iPad PROs, for a limited time, B&H Photo is having a special offer on the new condition 12.9-inch iPad PRO (2018) (256GB, Wifi-only, Space Age Gray) for $899 with free US shipping… You also get a free 1-year subscription to Apple TV+ (as with most new i-device purchases)…

Wedn: 14TB WD external for $250, Surface 7 PRO latest model

Ooooops, I didn’t notice the expiration date, the Tuesday B&H dailies are actually running for 72 hours, not 24, so they are good until Thursday at 11:59pm ET [or earlier if sold out].

The final countdown clock is finally ticking on the Adorama Passover deal, the new condition Olympus E-M10 II with 14-42mm R for $299 in either color scheme expires on Thursday 4/16/20 at 10am ET. So it’s decision time if you are 50-50 on it…

Meanwhile at the Best Buy dailies for Tax Day [which is getting outshined this year by COVID Day Every Day] they offer:

+ 14TB WD External USB 3.0 hard drive for $250
+ that’s $17.86 per TB, assuming we buy data like we buy generic groceries πŸ™‚

+ Microsoft Surface 7 PRO tablet (latest model) for $900
+ 12.3″, 10th gen i5, 8GB, 256GB SSD, etc
+ NOT INCLUDED: Surface Pen, Surface Keyboard Cover Type thing

UPDATE: storage is also the theme in the NewEgg daily deals where they offer:

+ 3pk of 32GB Team USB 3.0 Type A tiny flash drives for $20 total
+ comes out to $6.67 per 32GB flash drive
+ up to five sets per customer

+ 5TB WD Elements external USB 3.0 hard drive for $110 after promo code 93XPH89

$50 off on select 2020 iPad PRO tablets (11″ and 12.9″ options)

We have the first notable discounts on the 2020 iPad PROs! When they were announced, the storage jumps was the usual +$100 but now we have movement on the 256GB front, dropping $50 on the 12.9-inch model, making it $1049 in the “Space Gray” at B&H Photo, while the other color being $1069, while the 128GB options remain at around $999… The 512GB is around $1279, while the 1TB is at $1449 in the “Space Gray”.

If you are interested in the 11-inch 2020 iPad PRO, the 128GB version has dropped just $10~ down to $789, but the “Space Gray” of the 256GB version is down to $849 at B&H Photo, while the other color is at $879. Further up, the 512GB is $1049 only in the “Space Gray”, while the 1TB is $1249 again only in “Space Gray”.

If you are of the Apple persuasion, B&H has a number of other Apple promotions and offerings…

And per the Fairness Doctrine (TM) we must needs mention a competitor, Google has Work from Home Router offers, both their own “Google Wifi” routers and the Nest products…

And for students of all ages learning from home, they have created a new Home Schooling portal with related products and offerings…

Pre-order the new iPad PROs and the new Magically Magical and Amazingly Wonderful Keyboards

Leave it to Apple to launch a tablet keyboard that costs more than most non-Apple tablets in the market today. If that hasn’t scared you away, keep on reading πŸ™‚

Apple has just revealed the new generation of iPad PROs along with new MacBook Airs and Mac Minis! But the star of the show are the Magic Keyboards. They are really magic. The iPad levitate on the keyboard platform (well, except for the part of the iPad that is actually attached to the keyboard platform). The Magic Keyboard for the 11-inch goes for $299, while the Magic for the 12.9-inch goes for $349. iOS updates are coming for some of the older iPad PROs to be able to use this new magically magical and amazingly wonderful device πŸ™‚

The new iPad PROs are available for pre-ordering at B&H Photo with the 11-inch starting at $799 (128GB) an the 12.9-inch starting at $999 (128GB). The storage jump from 128GB to 256GB is +$100, but the other two jumps (256 to 512, 512 to 1TB) are +$200 each, with the 1TB options being +$500 of the base option for each screen size. The LTE options is +$150. Finally the days of the 16GB and 32GB and 64GB are over πŸ™‚

Did I mention these new iPad PROs use USB-C? At Last, At Last, At Last πŸ™‚

Tuesday: Fire HD 8 Tablet starting at $50

Another Corona-inspired offer, if you and friends and family and kids and roommates are locked in, the more tablets the merrier appears to be the thinking in the Amazon Gold Box headliner deal of the day for Tuesday 3/17/20, it is the new condition Fire HD 8 tablet going for $50 with free US shipping. This is the base model (16GB storage, With Offers). A +$20 gets you from the 16GB to the 32GB model, and a +$15 removes the Special Offers. They are available in four color options, a great way to color-code the tablets of people living in the same house for ease of recognition [“it’s my tablet, MINE! not yours!!!!”] πŸ™‚

Note that these have microSD slots that can take up to 400GB cards, so the storage limitation of the on-board memory is only if you have any apps that refuse to use the microSD card…

Last Call (ends Mon PM): iPad sales

Last call on the Apple-sanctioned iPad sales for Black Cyber Fri-Monday! A variety of iPad models (I’ve lost track now) are on sale going from the Mini to the 12.9-inch models. Find the latest offers at B&H Photo and Target and yes, Amazon itself (when interests intersect, Amazon and Apple become frenemies ~ one gets to sell more items, the other gets to boost their iPad sales and market share)…

Pre-order new 10.2-inch iPads starting at $329

A sign perhaps of Apple’s need to drive more sales among the “mere mortals”, this week saw the first official live-stream of a big Apple event in the modern era on YouTube and this was backed up by a Tim Cook statistics on the iPad ~ a lot of the iPad users are new and non-iPhone users, the iPad is bringing fresh blood in the shoppe.

Which brings us to the just-announced 10.2-inch iPads, they are now available to pre-order at B&H Photo with prices starting at $329 (Wifi, 32GB) and going +$100 for the jump to 128GB. For fans of 4G LTE, they have the usual +$130 on the Wifi-only model.

And there’s good reason iPads are keep getting bought up by non-platform users. Both Microsoft and Google tablets are in a state of non-existent confusion. Google can’t decide if they want Android or ChromeOS or both or neither for their tablets πŸ™‚ Microsoft can’t decide which variant of “Windows Lite” to launch this month πŸ˜‰

PS: if the CEO of Apple can get away with saying “eggspecially” can I also do it? Or is this too part of the Apple script to make the presentation feel more conversational/human/casual/relatable? I’m eggspecially interested in finding out!

Pre-order new 9.7″ “Educational” iPad, Get $25 e-Gift Card

Apple’s Education Event yesterday revealed a new iPad targeting education, but also generating a lot of interest among the general consumer looking for a $300-ish iPad with support for the Apple Pencil (aka digital stylus). For consumers, this new 9.7″ inch iPad is available for pre-ordering for $330 with a $25 Best Buy e-gift-card at the Best Buy website. The $330 price is for the base Wifi-only model with 32GB storage.

The prices increase as usual with more storage, the 128GB goes for $430 (the usual +$100 storage tier bump). Meanwhile the 32GB Cellular model goes for $460 and the 128GB Cellular goes for $560 (the usual +$130 bump).

OF photography interest is support for the Apple Pencil. The Apple pencil is NOT included. It is also compatible with the upcoming Logitech Crayon.

The iPads are still not available for purchase by Amazon itself (various 3rd-party sellers offer them but not Amazon itself), so the iPad tablet market is still doing okay. If they were close to the panic button, they’d be sold by Amazon itself as well πŸ™‚

Pre-order new iPads ($319 to $549) with $10 discount and 5% rewards

Now that we mentioned an Android device, the Fairness Doctrine dictates that we must needs also mention an iOS device. Which is handy, because B&H Photo is not only accepting new iPad pre-orders, they are also offering a $10 off discount and more importantly 5% promotional rewards on the purchase price. The promotional rewards can be used on future B&H purchases. With a price range of $319 to $549, the promotional rewards range from $16~ to $27~.

There are two storage options, 32GB for $319, and 128GB for $419. The 4G LTE versions cost $130 more than their Wifi-only storage counterparts as usual. Sadly this has no easily distinguishable name, it’s just “the new iPad”. Of photo interest, the 9.7-inch screen has a 2048 x 1536 resolution (4:3~).
