Sony is doing the Apple thing with two phase announcements. Today they revealed their new Sony a7 III camera ($3200) and 24-105 f4 G OSS FE lens ($1300). Pre-orders for these begin on Thursday. I will post a new post once they become available for pre-ordering. Sony is also developing a 400mm f2.8 GM OSS lens, but there is no price for this lens, so it may not be available for pre-ordering tomorrow.

The release estimate for the a9 and accessories is May 25-26 in 2017. The 100-400 lens has a late July release estimate. As usual, there is a YMMV to the estimate, especially since these are flagship/pro gear that are not made in mass-market fashion.
The a9 announcement gave the Mirrorless cameras the lead, they are leading DSLRs 6-5 in 2017. It’s starting to look like a hockey game score 🙂
The new Sony 100mm f2.8 STF OSS Master Series (GM) lens is now in-stock and ready to ship for $1499 with free shipping by Beach Camera thru Amazon. It ships directly from Beach Camera and it is not Prime eligible. As of the time of writing, they have one left.
