Pre-orders for new Sony a7 III start Wedn 11am ET
Sony has plenty of 35mm full frame cameras [see 35mm full frame price charts] but that’s not stopping them from revealing a brand new model! The Sony a7 III body only is now an official product and pre-orders of it will begin on Wednesday 2/28/18 at 11am eastern at authorized Sony dealers.
The starting price is $2000 for the body only, and $2200 for the kit with the 28-70mm lens. A listing for the camera is available at B&H Photo and Adorama with the pre-ordering option activating on Wednesday at 11am eastern.
This has been added to the New Cameras of 2018 tracking page and has given mirrorless cameras a 7-1 lead over DSLRs in 2018.

Perhaps as a sign of the times, along with the new 70-210mm f4 Di VC, Tamron has announced the development of a new temptation for mirrorless! It is the brand new Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD for the 35mm full frame Sony E system. The lens is not available for pre-ordering yet (it doesn’t have a price attached to it) but B&H Photo has created a product page for it with the information revealed so far by Tamron.

Sony a7 with 28-70 OSS and Rode PRO R Mic for $1000
We continue our Full Frame price-checking with the entry-point into the Sony 35mm FF a-series. The a7 body only dropped to $800 with the early February Sony instant savings wave, while the “take pictures with” kit with the 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS dropped to $1000.
Fast forward to now, and the a7 with 28-70mm is getting a pretty useful freebie from Adorama, for the same price of $1000 they also include the new condition Rode Microphones VideoMic Pro R Cardioid Condenser Microphone with Rycote Lyre Shock Mount.
The mic on its own goes for $230, eg B&H Photo and Amazon itself, so that’s a pretty good value!
Sony a7r II body with One Useful Freebie (Five Options)
The Sony Instant Savings of early February gave us plenty of Sony lens discounts and also Sony camera discounts but that’s not all. Some of the discounted cameras are also getting freebies now.
