Wired Selfie Stick and FreedomPop GSM SIM and Free Trial to two Premium Services for $5 w/free S&H

This is an intermediate level promotion as it requires post-purchase actions. FreedomPop is a freemium service that offers free cellphone service and data over Sprint’s network and Wifi wherever it is available. But they are also expanding into GSM now using HSPA+ and 3G (but not 4G LTE) on AT&T and T-Mobile GSM networks. This is a GSM promotion. They are offering a free Wired Selfie Stick along with a 3-in-1 FreedomPop SIM (one modular card that fits the three most popular SIM sizes of most of today’s phones) and a free trial to two of their premium services for $5 with free shipping from the FreedomPop website.

Once your order ships (it is slow shipping), the 30-day free trial of the two premium services begins. If you don’t want to get charged anything, you have to make sure you downgrade the phone plan to the free tier (200 talk minutes, 500 texts, 200MB data per month) and cancel the other premium service before the 30 days are over. The clock ticks when the order ships, not when you receive it.

You can easily cancel/downgrade using the Freedompop website, but if you run into problems, contact their customer service or post in their forums to have it fixed. Get a new phone number, don’t port your own until you are certain Freedompop works well for you and you get reception at all the places you plan to use it (since it is not 4G LTE).

24-inch Dell UltraSharp U2415 Monitor with $100 Promo Credit for $332.50

If you are regular Dell Home shopper or do not mind making additional future purchases over there, they have a promotion on their 24-inch Dell UltraSharp U2415 Monitor. You pay $332.49 with free shipping but you also receive a $100 promotional eGift Card by email, 2-3 weeks after your order ships. The promotional eGift Card must be spent within 90 days (unless the expiration date is prohibited by law). This $100 promo credit appears magically in your shopping cart after you add the monitor there. The offer ends 2/8/16 at 7am central.

This is a WUXGA 1920 x 1200 monitor, with 99% sRGB coverage at a deltaE under 3, 178 x 178 degree viewing angle, and can work in a multi-monitor setup. It has two HDMI (MHL) ports, a DisplayPort and a mini-DisplayPort. Also USB ports (one upstream, five downstream (one is a charging port)).

Now if you have no interest in using the $100 promo credit, and you just want the monitor, it currently goes for $280 at Amazon by Amazon herself. The reviews there are for multiple models, so be sure to look at the filtered list of its own reviews. A total of 284, unfortunately their system does not average the filtered results. At Dell’s it averages 4.2/5 based on 14 customer reviews.

Google LG Nexus 5X with $20 Gift Card for $300 (16GB) or $350 (32GB)

To the eBay Deals we go, where BuyDig’s eBay store is offering a nice deal for fans of Android purity who want to have the latest version (Android 6.0) with the new permissions system, and compatibility with the Google-Fi hybrid cellular-wifi service that refunds you any unused data. They include a $20 VISA gift card with either the 16GB Nexus 5X ($300; two color options) or the 32GB Nexus 5X ($350; one color option). No contracts!

This is a good way to use and test the latest versions of a variety of camera and photography Android apps but restrict them when they get too grabby with their permissions and data hoarding. Having said that, keep in mind that the new Permissions system is not perfect and it only gives us partial control. There is a very good write-up on it at the Ars Technica review.
