Meanwhile at the NewEgg daily deals it is the return of Samsung storage. This time around it is the new condition 256GB Samsung Fit Plus USB 3.1 Type-A flash drive, model MUF-256AB/AM, going for $31 with free US shipping, sold and shipped by NewEgg itself. Up to three per customer. As the borrowed-from-Sandisk name suggest, these are the compact type of flash drives.

Samsung Trade-In Promotion Offers Up To $700 Credit Towards S21 flagships on select Galaxy, Pixels and iPhones [Cracked Screen Trade-Ins get $150 less]

The official Samsung USA online store is also offering a trade-in promotion for the new Samsung S21 three-headed flagship monster. The maximum you get is $700 with a working screen, or $550 with a cracked screen.

The trade-in credit promotion is stackable with the previously mentioned pre-order bonuses

The trade-in credit depends on which smartphone you trade-in for the S21*. It also has to meet the eligibility requirements (starts up, functions, factory reset, no cracks on screen and lenses, not on a banned list). Please do double-check as I may have made a mistake in the assembly of this list:

$700 trade-in credit

  • Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra
  • Galaxy S20, S20 Plus, S20 Ultra
  • iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 PRO, 12 PRO MAX

$550 trade-in credit

  • Galaxy S20 FE
  • Notes 10, 10 5G, 10 Plus
  • Galaxy S10, S10 5G, S10 Plus, S10e
  • iPhone 11, 11 PRO, 11 MAX, XS, XS MAX

$350 trade-in credit

  • Note 9

  • Galaxy A71
  • Pixel 4, 4 XL
  • iPhone 8, 8 Plus, X, XR

$250 trade-in credit

  • Note 8
  • Galaxy S8, S8+, S8 Active
  • iPhone 7, 7 Plus

$200 trade-in credit

  • Galaxy S7, S7 Active, S7 Edge
  • Galaxy A51, A51 5G
  • Pixel 3, 3a, 3 XL, 3a XL
  • iPhone SE, 6S, 6S Plus

Cracked Screen phones are eligible but they usually give you $150 less in trade-in credit for them. The cost-n-profit of fixing/replacing the cracked screen ๐Ÿ™‚

Please do check all the details, terms, conditions and restrictions of this promotion. I have not done this type of a promotion before so I don’t have first hand experience to tell you how it works…

Pre-order bonuses with Samsung Galaxy S21* pre-orders

Yesterday, a day after the official “Diet CES 2021” ended, Samsung revealed their new Galaxy S three-headed flagship monster, the S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra [see Footnote #1]. If you missed the live unveiling, you can watch the 88 minute socially-distanced presentation (silver lining, COVID-era pre-recorded presentations start on time)

And as usual, Samsung is running a pre-ordering promotion until January 28 in 2021 with the freebies depending on which model you buy:

+ $100 store credit with the S21
+ $150 store credit with the S21 Plus
+ $200 store credit with the S21 Ultra
+ store credit at the Samsung.com online store and/or the Shop Samsung app

+ when you redeem the store credit at Samsung’s, a Galaxy SmartTag will be included automatically for free during checkout
+ neat trick to “encourage” using the store credit

+ promotion ends 1/28/21

The terms and conditions are a little hard to find and with fineprint at the Samsung website, so I’m cut-n-pasting them here. The terms are as of the time of writing of this blog-post. I do not know if they plan to change them in the future…

“18+ & 50 US/DC/PR/USVI only. By 1/28/21, pre-order and purchase a Samsung Galaxy S21 5G, S21+ 5G, or S21 Ultra 5G on device installment plan, 2-year contract plan, lease or outright purchase at full retail price (โ€œQualifying Purchaseโ€), & receive a Samsung Galaxy SmartTag ($30 value) + Samsung Credit either (i) $100 (S21 5G), (ii) $150 (S21+ 5G), or (iii) $200 (S21 Ultra 5G) (โ€œGiftโ€). Only available while supplies last. By 2/28/21, using your Qualifying Purchase device, follow instructions on the Shop Samsung app (โ€œAppโ€) to submit required info. Gifts will be emailed apprx 4-6 weeks after verification of Qualifying Purchase. Only 47,000 $100, 37,000 $150, and 47,000 $200 Samsung Credits available. Samsung Credits are valid only at www.Samsung.com or in the App for use towards an eligible purchase, and valid through 4/30/21. Gifts subject to availability and are non-transferrable. Limit 1 Gift per Qualifying Purchase. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Additional restrictions apply. Offer subject to additional terms here. Samsung reserves the right to modify or discontinue offer at any time by posting notice on the app or website”

FootNote #1 once upon a time it was a three-headed monster. With the S20 flagship, it’s actually a five-headed monster because there’s also the “Lite” and the “Fan Edition”. Who knows how many variants we’ll get for the 2021 model? The “Stan” edition? The “Shipper” edition? The “Limited Edition”? The “Insiders” edition? The “Valentine” edition? ๐Ÿ˜‰

NOTE also that these are 5G phones, so you may accidentally intercept intergalactic planetary conversations ๐Ÿ™‚

Samsung microSD card fans, unite and take over! If you need 64GB Samsung EVO Select in multiples of three, you are in luck! As one of the Sunday 2/23/20 deals of the day at Woot (ends 11:59pm central or earlier if sold out) you can get 3-packs of 64GB Samsung EVO Select microSDXC cards for $24 total after using coupon code SAVEFIVE ($5 off), coming down to $8 per card. Note that the listing says these come with a 90-day Woot warranty… The current price at Amazon is $12 per card… These days the Samsung microSD cards are my go-to, I never had any problems with them, in phones or tablet/laptops…

Elsewhere, at the B&H daily deals they have:

+ GenAray Escort Daylight LED Spot Light for $150

It’s all utilitarian at the Adorama daily deal (changes 10am ET daily), it’s the H&A Universal Tablet Stand Adapter for $13

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960U, 512GB on-board) with FREE DeX, 256GB microSDXC for $750

256GB Samsung Fit Plus USB 3.1 small flash drive for $40

Sandisk is not the only one making short “thumb-size” USB flash drives. Samsung says this is a *proof device (water, shock, magnet, temperature, x-ray) and comes with a 5-year warranty.

Great use for laptops so they don’t stick out or hooked to a smartphone/tablet using a short OTG cable [assuming your device is compatible] or used on the front USB ports of desktop computers or used as storage in smart TVs or digital TV PVR boxes [I did this with one of those cheap $30 OTA “DVRs”) or to play music in cars, and so on…

Friday: Samsung Galaxy Note 8 for $400 [new condition]

If you are a fan of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, you are in luck, the new condition is one of the Woot deals of the day for Friday 9/6/19 going for $400 with a 1-year Samsung warranty. This is a GSM phone, so no to the CDMA networks (Verizon, Sprint, etc). Limit up to ten per customer. This has 64GB on-board and a 3.5mm headphone jack [take that Note 10!] It is in the “midnight black” color scheme.

Meanwhile at the Amazon USA Gold Box, an Anker Nebula projectors sale includes a $20 Nebula tripod, intended for projectors but it has a universal mount and swivel ball head and averages 4.1 out 5 based on 36 customer reviews. The sale also includes three projectors ranging from $172 to $413…

Wedn: 64GB Samsung PRO Endurance microSDXC for $18 [or buy them in 2-packs for $33]

It’s been a while since we visited the NewEgg shellshockers and what a coincidence, today they have a special on the Samsung Endurance microSDXC cards. IF you buy one new condition 64GB Samsung PRO Endurance microSDXC memory card (UHS-I, U1, up to 100MB/sec, MB-MJ64GA/AM) you pay $18. Limit up to three per customer. These are sold and shipped by NewEgg not marketplace sellers.

BUT wait, there’s more! You can buy them as a 2-pack for $33, that brings the individual card price down to $16.50. So it’s better to buy the 2-packs instead of two individual cards. Limit up to three 2-packs per customer as well…

Wednesday: 3pk of 64GB Samsung microSDXC for $30

I am mostly using Samsung microSD cards these days, I have had zero issues with them ~ the same cannot be said with other brands I had previously used (Lexar, PNY, etc). Of course I am not a consumer reports test lab, so it’s only a small data point…

Which brings us to the Wednesday Woot Computers deal of the day a 3pk of 64GB Samsung microSDXC memory cards o the EVO Select kind (UHS-I, U3, C10, 4K UHD video, up to 100MB/sec read and up to 60MB/sec write) for $30 with free shipping for Prime members or $6 flat for non-members. It comes out to *calculating* *calculating* $10 per card ๐Ÿ™‚

You can buy up to ten 3-packs per customer at the sale price. They come with a 10-year Samsung warranty. These are the 4-Proof kind (water, extreme temperatures, X-Ray, magnetic fields).

It’s Chromebook time of the Samsung kind. Along with the Levis jeans sale, the Monday Amazon USA Gold Box has a Samsung Chromebooks sale, with three models ranging from $200 to $400 with something for everyone!

The $200 model is the Chromebook 3 with a 11.6″ screen, 4GB RAM, 64GB on-board and Celery N3060 processor…

The other two models are 2-in-1s with touchscreens and with included Samsung S-Pens that are nestled inside the laptop body.

The PLUS has a 12.2″ screen (1920 x 1200, 4GB RAM, 64GB on-board, microSD slot with up to 400GB cards, Celery 3965Y, support for Google Play in parallel to ChromeOS [can be turned off is not needed]. This is the second generation (V2) model. This adds a USB-A port to the first generations two USB-C ports, so that’s one less dongle to carry. For HDMI or Ethernet, you need a USB-C/USB-A dongle.. It averages 4.7 out of 5 based on 21 customer reviews and it has nearly 50 answered questions… I haz the first generation and it’s really a great value for money if you can stomach Google-everywhere ๐Ÿ™‚

The $400 model is the PRO in the line but it is the first generation with a 3.8 out of 5 based on 404 [foreboding number?] customer reviews. It has a 12.3″ screen with 2400 x 1600 [but Samsung recommends running it at a lower resolution for optimal performance] with 4GB RAM, 32GB on-board, Core M3-6Y30, 12.3″ display, etc.

When upgraded to the latest OS versions, you should also see an option for “Linux Beta”.

Limit two of each option per customer at the sale price. Sale ends on Tuesday at 3am ET or earlier for any that sell out.

On the other hand, if you don’t need the extra features (eg S-Pen), and you feel like a boldly-going explorer of a new brand, the Amazon page recommended this $250 Poin2 Chromebook (Poin2 is the brand name) with 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, 14-inch screen, 180-degree hinge, IPS, touchscreen, MediaTek quadcore, SD card reader, HDMI, USB 3.0 Type A, USB-C, etc. There’s also a $3.47 off discount if you select “No Rush Shipping”… This is the first time I heard of this brand, so this is strictly for the boldly-going types…

Samsung EVO Select microSDXC cards: 64GB for $11, 128GB for $21, 256GB for $48

According to the internets, the “EVO Select” is an Amazon-exclusive brand of Samsung memory cards, giving Amazon the flexibility to play with the price without being beholden to the MAP situation of the “EVO Plus” cards…

… which brings us to the 256GB Samsung EVO Select microSDXC card (U3, UHS-I, with SD adapter) going for $48 with free US shipping. Limit one per customer at the sale price. It is not a lightning deal…

If you don’t need the 256GB size, on the same listing you will find the 128GB version for $21 and that you can buy as many as you like… The 64GB goes for $11 [which I bought for $20 in April of last year according to the Amazon page]…

EU: [SDXC]: 128GB Ultra for 20e, 64GB Extreme for 16e, [microSDXC]: 128GB Samsung for 23e

+ 128GB Samsung EVO Select microSDXC for 23 euro

With more memory cards added to the arsenal, more memory card readers are not a bad idea, this USB-mountable Transcend RDF5 USB 3.0 card reader is back down to 7 euro in the black color scheme. It has two dedicated slots, one for SD* and one for microSD*…

Wedn: Toshiba HDDs, 64GB Samsung microSDXC for $10, Etc

64GB Samsung EVO Select microSD for $11

If 64GB is your favorite microSD size, the 64GB Samsung EVO Select microSD card is currently on sale for $11 each, with up to five per customer, at Amazon by Amazon itself… In terms of bang for the buck though, the 128GB goes for $20 each, while in terms of low price, the 32GB goes for $6 but it is an Add-On item… Meanwhile the 256GB option goes for $45… This is not a lightning deal, so expiration time and price-change is unknown [especially if prices are determined by Amazon’s AI/bots]…
