Wednesday: Fuji X-A7 with 15-45 OIS PZ for $450 [four colors]

Hooray, hooray, it’s camera day at the Amazon USA Gold Box! For $450 with free US shipping, you can get in new condition, in your choice of four color schemes, the Fuji X-A7 with 15-45mm OIS PZ, sold and shipped by Amazon itself. Maximum two per color. Not sure if it’s two per color per customer, or two total regardless of color per customer. The shopping cart will tell you before the payment goes through 🙂

There are two colors per “philosophy”: two serious colors in the black-silver and silver-black and two fun-pastel colors in the aforelinked brown and the hard to resist mint green

One secret benefit of the mint-green is that it’s a lot easier to get in an event that frowns upon “professional cameras” 🙂 For extra effect, put a Sponge Bob or Angry Birds sticker on the camera body as well 😉

This offer ends on Wednesday 11/18/20 at 11:59pm pacific time or earlier for any of the options that may sellout and become unorderable…

Refurb Nikon Z50 Two Lens Kit for $947 (Z 16-50, Z 50-250)

Today became an impromptu Nikon Z50 Day 🙂 We start, in reverse chronological order blog-style with the refurbished Nikon Z50 two lens kit (Z 16-50 DX VR and Z 50-250 DX VR) going for $947 at Adorama’s store with a 90-day Nikon USA warranty… This is $250 less than the new condition kits

BUT the refurbished kits are not eligible for the Nikon-blessed promotion for the new condition kits that you can add the Nikon FTZ mount adapter (Nikon F lenses to Z bodies) to a Z50 kit for just +$47 more…

Of course it is also likely/possible that someone interested in a two-lens DX kit, may not be interested right away in adapters…

Refurbished Nikon Z50 body w/90DW for $749

We previously mentioned the Nikon Z50 2-lens kit offer for $1100, BUT if you are not interested in the basic zoom kit lenses, and you want a lower entry-price into the Nikon Z system, B&H Photo is offering the refurbished Z50 body only for $749 with free US shipping and a 90-day Nikon USA warranty…

HOWEVER, the refurbished version is not eligible for the Nikon-blessed offer of adding the Nikon FTZ mount adapter (Nikon F lenses to Nikon Z bodies) for just +$47 with new condition Z50 kits. So if you have no way of procuring an adapter for less then mayhaps you are better off going with the new condition kits…

… and given the prices of the new condition kits, the Z50 body only goes for $857 while the Z50 with 16-50mm goes for $897 (+$40 for the 16-50 lens which you can resell/trade/etc), you may be better off with the latter. With these kits, for +$47 you can add the Nikon FTZ adapter. That too you can resell/trade/etc if you don’t plan on using…

The above links are at B&H Photo, but you can find similar bundles at Adorama’s listings

… but we are not done with the Z50, there’s one more post, and I promise that’s it with the Z50 for today 🙂

Sunday: Best Buy’s Nikon Z50 2-Lens Kit matched with different accessories elsewhere

The headliner of the Sunday 11/1/20 Best Buy daily deals is a Nikon Z50 two lens kit with a freebie for $1100. The two lenses are the Z 16-50mm f3.5-6.3 DX VR and the Z 50-250mm f4.5-6.3 DX VR. Thankfully Nikon gave them slightly different focal lengths from their parallel DSLR models.

The freebie is the Sunpak 12″ Bi-Color Tabletop Vlogging Kit which has a Best Buy valued price of $50 and includes a 12″ USB-powered bi-color ring-light, a flexible smartphone mount, a mini ball head (up to 4.5 lbs, aka ~2 kilos) and a bluetooth remote for iOS/Android…

BUT the $1100 price is also available at other authorized Nikon retailers with a different set of freebies…

At Adorama’s listings the freebies include a 32GB Sandisk Extreme PRO SDHC, Slinger shoulder bag, a filter kit for each lens (46mm and 62mm), card wallet, cleaning kit, and a Corel software kit in your choice of PC or Mac that includes seven titles…

Optionally, you can click on the “Special Offer” bundle and add the Nikon FTZ mount adapter (Nikon F lenses to Z bodies ~ obviously) for +$47…

At B&H Photo’s listings the freebies are a 64GB Sandisk Extreme PRO SDXC, a RJ shoulder bag, a 62mm UV filter (with a limited 10 year warranty) and a Zeiss-branded lens care kit…

Fascinating how the two top camera makers managed to have four different iLC camera systems each 🙂

Used Panasonic GH5 Body for $1079+ [NEW $1398 w/LOTS of Freebies]

If of all the M43rds video-friendly cameras out there it is the Panasonic GH5 body only the one you want, as of the time of writing you can get it in “USED – Condition Excellent Plus” for $1079 at Adorama… You can also get it in “USED – Condition 9+” for $1160 at B&H Photo

The current new condition price is $1400 (okay, $1398) at various authorized Panasonic dealers, some of which are bundling it with a boatload of free accessories, for example, at Adorama’s website there are four different accessor-a-palooza bundles with Marantz or Rode Mic, Extreme PRO SDXC, on-camera light, camera bag, extra batteries/chargers. One of hte bundles has the V-Log…

All four of the new condition bundles above at Adorama’s are eligible for the OPTIONAL combined purchase discount, simply expand the little thing that says “Special Offer Create Your Bundle and Save Up to $410!” and you’ll see them all. SPOILERS: the options are Sigma, Rokinon, 7artisans, Kamlan prime lenses. Each lens’s discount is stackable, so if you buy all the participating lenses, your total combined purchase discount will be $410.

The cheapest combined purchase add-on lens is the 7artisans 25/1.8 for +$65, and the 7artisans 50/1.8 for +$74… The most expensive option is the Rokinon 24mm T1.5 Cine DS for a +$599…

+ at Amazon USA’s Gold Box there’s another Anker charging products sale and Samsonite luggage, and a $120 Nespresso kit (some suggest it is superior to Keurig’s K-Cup system {but moi, being a pour-over hippy I say pour-over is superior to all machines, even steampunk coffee machines 😉 }), and for those of you tired of hoarding toilet paper every time there’s a crisis or an “act of nature”, there’s a sale on Bio Bidets with remote controls…

+ if you like the metal touch of the Samsung BAR Plus USB flash drives, the 256GB USB 3.1 version is on sale for $34 among the NewEgg deals du jour for Sunday…

This is an APS-C Nikon mirrorless camera, and I proposed that we call the Nikon Z mirrorless cameras “Zikon”, to easily distinguish them from “Nikon” 🙂

The offers end on Thursday 10/15/20 at 10am eastern or earlier for any that may sell out ahead of its designated expiration time…

Prime Day #2: Canon M6 Mark II with 15-45 and EVF APS-C Mirrorless for $799 [updated]

UPDATE: this is the Canon M6 Mark II. In the chaos of the original post, I did not write “Mark II”, so some may have thought it was the Mark I… All apologies for the confusion… Silver lining, this is good practice for Black Friday 2020 🙂

Hooray! A real camera has appeared in the Wednesday Amazon USA Prime Day #2, it is available in black or silver-black, and for $799 you can get the new condition Canon M6 Mark II with 15-45 EF-M and EVF sold and shipped by Amazon herself.

For more action, check our on-going Prime Day #2 round-up

PS: more things are getting added as I write these at the Amazon USA Prime Day #2, it’s a bit chaotic at the moment 🙂

CURIOUS ABOUT THE CANON M6 MARK II?
Since this is a 24-hour deal and the camera comes in two color-options, you have plenty of time to research it. Here are some reviews to get you started:

+ the most readable and pleasant to read (compared to most of the other ad-attack websites) review at Camera Labs

+ Richard Butler sings writes the dpreview review, late November 2019, “our favorite Canon mirrorless yet”

+ Theano Nikitas at Tom’s Guide
+ NOTE: the Tom’s Guide website is an avalanche of ads, literally boxing you in as you are trying to read the review 🙂

+ short review at F/Stoppers

+ 3.5 out of 5 at PC Magazine

+ standard review format at Photography Blog

+ longish review at Digital Camera World but “ads attack” almost as bad as Tom’s Guide

+ review, not unboxing at Verizon’s Engadget

+ hands-on at Trusted Reviews

+ field test at Imaging Resource

+ detailed review at The Digital Picture

+ readability suffers but there is content at Camera Jabber

+ if you need more reviews, opinions and such, the internet is your friend and also The YouTube and such…

This concludes this impromptu and incomplete review round-up 🙂

Ends Wedn 1:05am ET: Rokinon 12mm f2 NCS CS (Fuji X) for $263 [UPDATED]

UPDATE: the price is $263…

After digging through the “Upcoming” Camera and Photo Lighting Deals of the gargantuan Amazon USA Gold Box, there is one lens currently on the “Upcoming” schedule, starting at 7:05am eastern on Wednesday, the Rokinon 12mm F2.0 NCS CS manual focus lens for the Fuji X system. The price before the sale is $329. The product listing only has the Fuji X, no other options.

You need to be a Prime member to get the sale price. If you are not, but you like the price when it goes live, you can start a 30 day free trial. Just make sure you put an alert in your calendar to cancel it if you don’t fall into the trap that millions of paying Prime subscribers fell into. Which is why they are very generous with the 30-day trials because a very satisfactory [for their accountants] percentage appears to become paying members for life (or at least for many years)…

PS2: the offer is not mentioned at the Amazon website. To be safe, for these type of offers, it’s better to go with the camera-centric retailers because they are more organized with the offers, and your claim cannot get caught up in “you bought from an Amazon 3rd-party seller” nonsense…

PS3: the promotional period is September 2-30 in 2020, so if you had previously pre-ordered (from an eligible/authorized dealer) without knowing about the promotion, you are still eligible to participate…

PS4: and if you file a rebate with me, I will send you a vial of certified Olympus Tears 😉

10% Back on select Sony Cameras and Lenses when paying with the B&H PayBoo card

The B&H PayBoo card is B&H’s online store credit card that has a special benefit. If you online-shop from a state that charges sales tax on online purchases, and you pay for the B&H purchase with the PayBoo store card, you get an instant discount/credit on the PayBoo card that is equal of the sales tax you would have paid. In other words, B&H pays the sales tax for you. You can check whether your state is eligible by clicking on the “Check Savings” links over there. It opens up, asks for your zipcode and tells you the percentage. Obviously if you live in a state without a sales tax, you won’t get anything discounted. The card is from Symphony Bank. It is only a store card that can be used at B&H, not a general-use VISA/Mastercard/etc…

And now to the actual deal running until August 25 in 2020. In addition to the aforementioned sales-tax credit, you will get an additional 10% back on your card with the purchase of select Sony Cameras and Lenses that you see listed over there. They include A-series full-frames, a-series APS-C cameras, f2.8 PRO zooms, bright primes and various other lenses and bundles…

Example
To keep the example simple, I am using round numbers and a fictional state. Let’s say you live in the great state of Denial, famous for its beautiful reflective lakes and its wholesome gentle and thrifty people, so they charge a 1% sales tax. You want to buy a Sony a6400 kit that costs $998. And you pay for your purchase in whole with the B&H PayBoo card.

You will be charged $998 [the camera price] plus 1% sales tax [$9.98] but the PayBoo card will automatically credit your account for $9.98, making your out of pocket $998. And because you are buying a camera participating in this Sony promotion, you will get a separate 10% credit [10% of $998 = $99.8] on your PayBoo B&H card…

I hope this example is actually not making things more confusing 🙂
