10% Back on select Sony Cameras and Lenses when paying with the B&H PayBoo card

The B&H PayBoo card is B&H’s online store credit card that has a special benefit. If you online-shop from a state that charges sales tax on online purchases, and you pay for the B&H purchase with the PayBoo store card, you get an instant discount/credit on the PayBoo card that is equal of the sales tax you would have paid. In other words, B&H pays the sales tax for you. You can check whether your state is eligible by clicking on the “Check Savings” links over there. It opens up, asks for your zipcode and tells you the percentage. Obviously if you live in a state without a sales tax, you won’t get anything discounted. The card is from Symphony Bank. It is only a store card that can be used at B&H, not a general-use VISA/Mastercard/etc…

And now to the actual deal running until August 25 in 2020. In addition to the aforementioned sales-tax credit, you will get an additional 10% back on your card with the purchase of select Sony Cameras and Lenses that you see listed over there. They include A-series full-frames, a-series APS-C cameras, f2.8 PRO zooms, bright primes and various other lenses and bundles…

Example
To keep the example simple, I am using round numbers and a fictional state. Let’s say you live in the great state of Denial, famous for its beautiful reflective lakes and its wholesome gentle and thrifty people, so they charge a 1% sales tax. You want to buy a Sony a6400 kit that costs $998. And you pay for your purchase in whole with the B&H PayBoo card.

You will be charged $998 [the camera price] plus 1% sales tax [$9.98] but the PayBoo card will automatically credit your account for $9.98, making your out of pocket $998. And because you are buying a camera participating in this Sony promotion, you will get a separate 10% credit [10% of $998 = $99.8] on your PayBoo B&H card…

I hope this example is actually not making things more confusing 🙂
