Canon announced not one but two new RAWsumers, the G5X and the G9X with starting prices of $800 and $500 respectively. As of the time of writing, these are in-stock at multiple retailers, including:
+ Canon G5X: B&H Photo and Adorama and Amazon (price is $800, ignore the $450 after MIR, it is WRONG!)
+ G9X silver-brown: B&H Photo and various at Amazon and OneCall
+ G9X black: B&H Photo and various at Amazon (price is $500, ignore the $150 after MIR, it is WRONG!)
Red flag alert! There’s a problem with the way Amazon calculates prices for Canon digital cameras that are eligible for the Canon Pixma combined purchase mail-in rebates. The after rebate prices are incorrectly shown on camera-only kits. These won’t fly since the Canon mail-in rebates specifically require a camera + printer purchase.

The company that owns the Polaroid brand has another new product out. Their Polaroid Cube+ tiny little square lifestyle camera is now in-stock and ready to ship for $150 at B&H Photo and Adorama and DB Roth thru Amazon. Amazon itself doesn’t have any of the three colors in-stock as of the time of writing, but they are coming soon per the listing.
For the early season shoppers, Best Buy is planning to have a brick and mortar sale-a-bration on Saturday November 7 (2015) between 1-5pm local time at their stores. Some of the offers are teased on their website and include a $30 Best Buy Gift Card with the purchase of a Sony a5100 or a5000 kit, and a $40 Best Buy Gift card with the purchase of a GoPro Hero4 Session or Hero+ LCD action camera. The first 100 customers per store will receive an unspecified “free tech gift”. You can find out which ones of your local stores are participating by using the blue location box over there.

That pestery free Shutterfly offer you often see at Best Buy is now propagating across the internets to Amazon. They have launched their own Shutterfly promotion. The 8×8-inch Photo Book is free, but shipping is extra. Details on how this works at the aforelinked page. To cut a long story short, if you purchase a qualifying item, you will receive an email from Amazon with details (and your own Shutterfly redemption code).

Do you go loopy over Eneloops? (sorry, that’s the best I could come up with in 20 seconds). This could be a nice introductory gift to rechargeable batteries for people who use single-use batteries – as long as you explain to them that you can’t recharge single-use batteries with them. Perhaps point them to the exploding battery YouTube videos to make sure they “get it” – because a few will probably be tempted to “try it just in case it works”. You know how people are 🙂
