A dramatic entrance by the Olympus E-PL9 mirrorless camera. In a “drop the mic” fashion, Olympus announced the camera for the US market and it is already in-stock and shipping at authorized Olympus dealers. There are two options available, body only for $600 or with the 14-42 EZ lens for $700. Three color schemes are available, black, white and brown, but borrowing from the naming craze of smartphones, they call them “onyx black”, “pearl white”, and “honey brown”. If you prefer the refurbished E-M10 II with the 14-42mm EZ, it goes for $430 in black or silver at the Olympus Outlet store, which is exactly the price of the refurbished 14-42mm EZ lens on its own. So if you go refurbished, the delta between the body only and the “with 14-42 EZ” is +$150, while in new condition is +$100. In other words, if you don’t feel compelled to have the 14-42 EZ lens, you can also look into getting a different lens, for example, a $90 pancake.
