Nikon D3300 with 18-55 DX VR II and Extras for $447 [CORRECTED]

CORRECTION: this is the D3300, not the D3400 as the original post said. All apologies for the confusion! I am confusion reborn!

If you are looking for a “take pictures with” entry-point in the Nikon DSLR system and like some extra accessories too, Adorama has the new condition Nikon D3300 with 18-55mm DX VR II on sale for $447 in the red color scheme (DSLR red only, not the lens) or the more conventional black color scheme for $447 with free shipping.

It is temporarily on back-order, but you can order it and lock up the $447 price.

The free accessories included by Adorama during this promotion are:

  • Corel software bundle (five titles, including two photo and one video)
  • Lowepro Format 160 camera bag
  • 52mm Pro Optic filter kit (three filters and case)
  • 16GB Lexar SD C10 card
  • memory card wallet
  • cleaning kit

Starts 6pm ET: Nikon D850 Live Panel II

Nikon D850 Learnings Part II! Starting at 6pm ET today, there will a brand new live video-streaming six-person panel talking about the Nikon D850 and its capabilities. The panel will have both still and video experts, including the one and only Joe McNally.

You can watch it at Adorama and B&H Photo. The stream is using Livestream technology which may require Adobe Flash.

For pre-ordering options, check the Stock Tracker.

Refurbished Nikon D810 body for $2199

The new Nikon D850 is coming later this year for $3300 [see Stock Tracker for options]. The existing Nikon D810 goes for $2800 in new condition at authorize dealers…

… but if you prefer to get it refurbished from an A-list dealer, you can get it refurbished at B&H Photo for $2199 with free shipping with a 90-day warranty (I think the warranty is from B&H, not Nikon).

Strategically, it’s not a bad idea, if you are going for the previous generation model, to get it refurbished or used, when the price difference between the new condition models is closer. Of course this is all relative, and one’s individual preferences and priorities vary, so there’s no one size fits all type of answer.

LIVE NOW: Nikon D850 Live Stream at B&H

If you are curious about the Nikon D850, starting at 1pm ET today (Monday 8/28/17), B&H Photo will have a Nikon D850 Live Stream with a panel discussing the camera live on video. A second separate live stream is planned for Tuesday at 6pm ET with a panel of six, including Joe McNally. The video-streaming is using Livestream.

NOTE: the video stream may require Adobe Flash. The D850 is available for pre-ordering ~ check Stock Tracker for options.

Save the Dates: Nikon D850 Learnings: B&H planning two LIVE Streaming panels on Mon and Tue

The Nikon D850 is now a real product, available for pre-order for $3300, and it has already been added to the Stock Status Tracker.

If you want to learn more about it, and ask specific questions that you want answered from people in the know, B&H is planning not one but TWO LIVE PANEL Discussions on this very camera!

On Monday 8/28/17 at 1pm Eastern (10am Pacific), a panel of four, including two Nikon Ambassadors will be talking about the camera.

On Tuesday 8/29/17 at 6pm Eastern (3pm pacific), a panel of six, including the one and only Joe McNally, will be having a hands-on with the D850 live, with both stills and video experts in the panel.

If you have any questions you want the panel to answer or want to follow the online discussion about it, check the #BHPhotoLive Twitter hashtag. Tweeting a question also enters you into a drawing to win a Nikon D850!

Streaming will happen using LiveStream technology (not YouTube), so if you have a mobile device that can’t handle Livestream, make sure you are near a device that can handle it.

Pre-order new Nikon D850 Body Only FF DSLR

Wallets open wide. Open ALL the frames in your wallet. The Nikon full frame DSLR that was promised is now a real product. The Nikon D850 body only is officially announced and pre-orders are accepted for $3300 at authorized dealers including B&H Photo and Adorama and Amazon itself.

With this new addition, the DSLRs take an 8-7 lead versus Mirrorless cameras among the New Cameras of 2017. But the score is far from settled, IFA is just around the corner. There is no Photokina this year since it is an odd-numbered year [and a very odd year to boot], so announcements may be spread out more evenly among the remaining Trade Shows.

In a surprisingly fast move (for this blog these days), the Nikon D850 has also just been added to the Stock Status Tracker. This is the fastest I’ve ever added a camera to the tracker 🙂

Open-box Nikon D7500 Body for $1120

The Nikon D7500 body only goes for $1250 in new condition at authorized dealers, but if you prefer open-box condition from reputable dealers, you can get it for $1120 with free shipping as open-box at B&H Photo… For the big picture, check the Stock Status Tracker

Refurbished Nikon D3400 w/18-55 DX VR and 70-300 DX non-VR for $400

The newly launched 6% to 8% eBay Bucks promotion puts in new light this offer at the eBay Deals. The Beach Camera eBay store is offering the manufacturer refurbished Nikon D3400 Two-Lens DX Kit for $400 with free shipping and a 90-day Nikon USA warranty.

Only the black color scheme is available. It includes the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G DX VR lens and the 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED DX non-VR. With 8% eBay Bucks, you’d be getting $32 in eBay Bucks (if you are eligible and you manually activate the promotion).

PS: non-VR is not an official Nikon designation but it serves as a practical disambiguation, since the lack of mentioning VR in a lens name may be a typo/error. Saying non-VR clarifies to the reader that this is not a VR lens. Or maybe I’m overthinking things 🙂

Refurbished Nikon D7200 Body Only for $680

More eBay Deals action, the BuyDig eBay store is offering the manufacturer refurbished Nikon D7200 body only for $680 with free shipping and a 90-day Nikon USA warranty with a limit of up to five units per customer.

The new condition D7200 body only goes for $1000 at authorized dealers, which are allowed to include free accessories, such as Amazon and Adorama.

Since the D7500 is the latest model, currently going for $1250 in new condition in body only [see Stock Status Tracker], it’s probably a good idea to go refurbished if you are buying the previous generation (almost half the price of D7500), instead of getting a new D7200 that’s only $250 away from the D7500. But of course it’s your decision 🙂

Open Box Nikon D7500 Body w/Full Warranty for $1120

As you can see at the just updated Stock Status Tracker, the Nikon D7500 body only goes for $1250 in new condition at authorized dealers.

But if you are willing to go the open-box route from a reputable dealer, B&H Photo offers the Nikon D7500 body only in Open-Box Condition with the full manufacturer warranty for $1120 with free expedited shipping. B&H is a well-known camera and photo retailer, so it’s as lower risk purchase.

Speaking of Nikon, their bitter rival’s latest camera, the Canon 6D Mark II is out of stock at most of the retailers we track, except for B&H Photo where it remains in-stock for its starting price of $2000.

Now shipping: Nikon 100th Anniversary Miniature Nikon F Camera for $140

In addition to the previously mentioned Nikon anniversary t-shirts, another Nikon anniversary product is now shipping. 3rd-party seller “OC Camera” (as in Orange County Camera; formerly Cameraland) is offering the Nikon 100th Anniversary Miniature Nikon F Camera at its regular price of $140 through Amazon. This ships directly from OC Camera and it is not Prime eligible.

At Adorama this marked as “Coming Soon”, while at B&H Photo it is marked as a “Special Order”.

To no one’s surprise, this is available in-stock for more than $140 by various eBay sellers.

Refurbished Nikon D3400 w/18-55 DX VR and 70-300 DX non-VR w/90-day warranty for $400

Back to the eBay Deals we go, where the Beach Camera ebay store is offering the manufacturer refurbished Nikon D3400 Two-Lens Kit with the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR DX AF-P and 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED DX AF-P non-VR lenses going for $400 with free shipping and a 90-day Nikon USA warranty. This is only available in the black color scheme at the moment. Limit five sets per customer. Over 2200 units have been sold from this listing.

PS: if interested in this camera, don’t forget to first opt-in to the 6% eBay Bucks promotion if you are eligible for it.

Refurbished Nikon Coolpix P600 superzoom (60x optical, LiIon) for $199

If you are a fan of Nikon Coolpix superzooms, but not a fan of AA batteries, fear not! We have an option for you too! The black refurbished Nikon Coolpix P600 superzoom (60x optical, Li-Ion) battery is on sale for $199 with free expedited shipping at B&H Photo with a 90-day warranty. This is another one of their latest Featured Sales.

Refurbished red Nikon Coolpix L830 superzoom (34x optical, 4 AA) for $150

If of all the Nikon superzooms it is the red Coolpix L830 the one you want, in refurbished condition, it is going for $150 with free expedited shipping at B&H Photo with a 90-day warranty (I believe B&H covers the warranty; the listing does not specify it explicitly). This is a 34X optical zoom camera powered by four AA batteries.

Refurbished Nikon P900 Superzoom (83x optical) w/90-day warranty for $470

Not quite the Hubble telescope but a 83x optical zoom lens is no small feat 🙂 The Nikon Coolpix P900 superzoom is currently available in manufacturer refurbished condition for $470 with free shipping and a 90-day Nikon USA warranty at Adorama, among their latest refurbished Nikon sales.

On the other hand, if you prefer new condition, this zoom-zoom currently goes for $579 at Amazon by Amazon itself with a limit of up to three units per customer.

Refurbished Nikon D810 Body for $1997

Ooooops, this got buried in yesterday’s Nikon D850 pre-announcement and I forgot to post it separately, but forgot no more! If you need a Nikon 35mm full frame DSLR now in the D8XX series, you don’t want to wait to see what the D850 will bring, and you don’t want to pay the big bucks for it, Adorama is offering the manufacturer refurbished Nikon D810 body only for $1997 with free expedited shipping. The new condition D810 goes for $2800 at authorized dealers.

Another alternative if you want an FX DSLR now but don’t want to wait or pay new-condition older-generation price, the manufacturer refurbished Nikon Df with 50mm f1.8G Special for $1795 with free shipping at Adorama.

Manufacturer refurbished Nikon camera gear at Adorama come with a 90-day Nikon USA warranty.

All these of course are luxuries, because the Nikon D40 is the only DSLR you’ll ever need 🙂

Refurbished Nikon D5300 Body w/90-day warranty for $380

If you are looking for a Nikon APS-C camera body in the D5XXX series and don’t want/need the kit lenses that typically come bundled with it, and if you are comfortable with manufacturer refurbished DSLRs that come with a 90-day warranty from Nikon USA, then you can get the manufacturer refurbished Nikon D5300 body only for $380 at Adorama or if you have eBay gift cards or eBay Bucks to spend, you can get it from Adorama on eBay (limit two per buyer).

Speaking of manufacturer refurbished Nikon DSLR gear, Adorama has 30+ of them on sale, a mix of DSLRs, lenses and Coolpixies.

Speaking of Nikon, Adorama has bundled with additional free accessories on select new condition Nikon Lenses (nine options, mix of primes and zooms).

Coming UP: Nikon D850 Full Frame DSLR

As part of the 100 Year Nikon Anniversary festivities, Nikon officially announced that a new 35mm full frame DSLR is coming. It will be the D850, and it will replace the D810. More details on the D850 will be announced at a later date per Nikon.

UPDATE: a placeholder page has been created for the camera at B&H Photo. More details as they get revealed by Nikon…

Nikon released a “hype video” for the D850, YouTube-embedded below:

DECISION MAKING PROCESS CHANGING after D850

So this changes the decision making progress for anyone interested in getting a 35mm full frame Nikon DSLR. As you can see in the Full Frame Cameras Price Chart, Nikon full frame DSLRs range from $1500 to $8000. The D810 that will be replaced by the D850 goes for $2800, while the Df is at $2750. The D810A (astro) goes for $3800.

So, strategically this means, if you are willing to pony up money for a brand new Df or D810, you night as well wait and see what the D850 will offer and how much will it cost.

On the other hand, if you need a 35mm full frame DSLR at the Df/D810 level right now and don’t want to wait for an anniversary pig in an anniversary poke, going the manufacturer refurbished route for the Df and the D810 seems like a reasonable financial and cameraholic decision versus buying them in new condition at full price.

That’s because the manufacturer refurbished prices are decidedly lower than the new condition:

+ manufacturer refurbished Nikon Df with 50mm f1.8G Special for $1795 at Adorama

+ manufacturer refurbished Nikon D810 body only for $1997 at Adorama

Refurbished Nikon Df with 50mm f1.8G Special for $1795 [and Other Offers]

If you want to get the Nikon Df with the Special Edition lens but don’t want to pay the full new condition price, fear not! Adorama comes to the rescue, they are offering the manufacturer refurbished Nikon Df with 50mm f1.8G Special Edition for $1795 with free shipping and a 90-day Nikon USA warranty.

This kit in new condition goes for $3000, so that’s certainly a big price difference to tilt the scales towards the manufacturer refurbished. This is the black Nikon Df. The silver Nikon Df is not available in this option.

But that’s not all. Adorama has launched a number of other promotions as follows:

+ DJI Phantom 4 Quadcopter w/ 4K HD Camera + 2 Extra Batteries + Charging Hub for $999
+ expires 7/24/17

+ SmallHD 702 Lite 7″ Monitor With Pro Accessory Bundle for $999

+ 3 Legged Thing Albert Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod System with AirHed 360 Ball Head for $340
+ expires 7/30/17

+ Asus Zenbook Pro 15.6″ Ultra HD 4K Touchscreen Notebook for $1375
+ Intel i7-6700HQ 2.6GHz, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 960M 2G, 512GB SSD, Windows 10

+ Asus Chromebook 13.3″ Full HD (4GB, 64GB) for $269

+ Dell Alienware 15 R2 15.6″ 4K Ultra Touchscreen Quad Core Gaming Notebook for $1069
+ Intel i7-6700HQ 2.6GHz, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD + 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3GB GDDR5, Windows 10
+ expires 7/30/17

+ Apple Magic Keyboard (MLA22LL/A) for $69 after $20 mail-in rebate (PDF details)

Imported Nikon D750 Body Only w/1yr seller warranty for $1290

As you may recall from our recent 35mm Full Frame Cameras Price Chart, the Nikon D750 body only goes for $1800 at authorized dealers, which are allowed to bundle it with free items, eg free 1-Year Photographers Cloud at B&H Photo.

But if you want to pay less, and you are comfortable with refurbished, you can get it in refurbished condition with a 90-day warranty for $1399 at B&H Photo.

On the other hand, if you are comfortable with imported/grey-market cameras, then to the eBay Deals we boldly go (where a CBS All Access subscription is not necessary) where eBay seller “6ave” (99.1%, New Jersey) is offering the new condition imported/grey-market Nikon D750 body only for $1290 with free shipping. Limit three per buyer. It comes with a 1-year warranty from the seller “6ave”, not Nikon USA.

As you can see, there are options, and that’s before you factor in the used market. It is good to have options ~ just ask anyone without options 🙂

Refurbished Nikon D3X Body with 90-day warranty for $2895

This is a “deep cut”. If of all the Nikon DSLRs out there, you happen to want or need the Nikon D3X in refurbished condition, you can get the D3X body only refurbished with a 90-day warranty for $2895 with free shipping at B&H Photo.

PS: this may seem like a random thing to post, but there’s a method to the madness, it surfaced while I was checking/price-checking cameras for the Camera Price Charts.

This is shown in the Giveaway schedule in the Amazon app when you click on the giveaway notification.

Entering the Giveaway is Simple

You can enter any or all the available giveaways. Entering is simple, you watch a very short Amazon video (promoting various Prime features), then click on a yellow “Continue” button, and then you are presented with a bouncing box. You click on the box, and their computer will inform you whether you won or not. The screenshot below is for a current giveaway item for a CD from an indie British band…
