Wednesday action in the Amazon USA Gold Box, it’s another variant of the Computer Sale, this one featuring gaming HP desktops and laptops, along with Red Dragon keyboards and mice (I’m assuming that by now the internet decided that “mices” is the plural of “mice”, and “casted” is the past tense of “cast”) πŸ™‚ A total of 14 computers and 8 keyboards/mice are participating in this sale…

Tuesday Lightning Deals: Moza Air 2, Action Cams, Neewer, Etc

Thunderbolt and lightning but no so very frightening for your wallet as Amazon has gotten way too big to be able to offer name-brand products are ridiculously low prices like it used to do back in the glory days of internet shopping. These days the lightning deals are more about modest discounts and not-famous manufacturers…

… which brings us to the Tuesday Camera and Photo Lightning Deals with the following potentially interesting items going live in the 24 hours (from the time of writing of this blog post):

+ all kinds of Neewer camera and photo accessories (studio, umbrella kits, C-shape system, C-stand, ring light, softbox, etc) ~ even an action camera

Monday Lightning Deals: Action Cams, Tripods, Neewer, Gimbal Stabilizers, Etc

Sunday’s Neewer Fest is almost over (although there’s still a few of them scheduled for Monday) but there are other options in the Monday Camera & Photo Lightning Deals.

The items shown below are in the order they will appear but finding and writing the exact start-times is very painful with a small laptop keyboard, that’s why you don’t see them. If I post them using a mechanical keyboard, then you’ll definitely get the start times πŸ™‚

+ APEMan action cam
+ Moza iFocus wireless follow focus
+ Hohem Action Cam Gimbal
+ Neewer NW-670 TTL flash kit
+ Veroyi kids camera

The above cover the next 24 hours as of the time of writing ~ I’m posting as many as the Gold Box shows as “Upcoming”. I’m not cutting them off at the 11:59pm pacific time like I used to do…

Monday: Anker Charging Sale

Since almost everything needs to get powered and charged these days (even toothbrushes), it is of general interest, inside the Amazon Gold USA Box for Monday 7/29/19, there is another sale on Anker charging products including 60W USB-C wall chargers, cables, hubs and such. The “theme” of this sale is the alienation of upper middle class creatives USB-C πŸ™‚

Sunday: LOTS of Neewer products (Flashes, Ring lights, Umbrellas, Etc) in the Gold Box Lightning Deals

IF you are a fan of Neewer camera accessories, the lightning deals of the Camera & Photo Gold Box for Sunday 7/28/19 includes a variety of their C&P accessories, including:

+ fluorescent ring light

Saturday: Kodak Internal SSD sale ($28 to $120, 120GB to 960GB)

Of the Saturday daily deals at Amazon, there is a Kodak SSD sale of the internal kind, with prices ranging from $28 to $120 and storage options ranging from 120GB to 960GB in the usual denominations in-between (240GB, 480GB)… They are sold by Woot and fulfilled by Amazon with the sale ending at 11:59pm pacific on Saturday (or earlier if sold out)…

Saturday: 1-Year of WIRED for $3 to $5, 1-Year of National Geographic for $8

The headliner of the Saturday Amazon USA Gold Box is a digital magazine sale that includes, among others, of potential photo-interest and/or six-degrees-of-separation:

+ 1-year annual subscription of WIRED for $3 in digital (Kindle edition) or $5 print magazine
+ the print edition of WIRED includes digital access as well

+ 1-year National Geographic for $8 in the Kindle edition
+ the print edition offer is for half-a-year, and it does not include digital access

Kindle editions can be read on Amazon’s Fire tablets, the good old Fire phone, and the Kindle apps for Android and iOS. The National Geographic is also available for the Kindle e-reader devices.

NOTE that these are AUTO-RENEWAL subscription and will automatically renew (unless you cancel them) at the future renewal rate. They won’t keep renewing at the introductory annual subscription rate of this offer…

Used Sony a7 II body for $704, a7 with 28-70 for $734 [Prime]

The 20% off Warehouse Deals promotion has two offers for Sony a7*.* fans as follows:

+ a7 with 28-70mm in “Used – Like New” condition for $734~, while the new condition goes for $998

+ Sony a7 II body only in “Used – Like New” for $704 while the new condition goes for $898

+ these are for Prime members only as part of the Prime Day 2019

Rokinon 14mm f2.8 (Sony E) for $229 [Prime Deal]

I can’t post individually for every single one of the camera and photo lightning deals ~ you can find them over there in the typical Amazon format…ilter

… but when some of them are doing well percentage-claimed wise, I give in and post about them individually. Such is the case for the new condition Rokinon 14mm F2.8 manual focus lens, model FE14M-E, going for $229 with free shipping for PRIME members until 9:25pm ET or earlier if sold out. IT is 27% claimed as of 3:53pm ET.

And starting at 4:30pm ET, there will be lightning deals on some (or may be all) of the Kenko Nyumon filters. The listing has the full range from 37mm to 82mm, but it doesn’t say ahead of time which one(s) will be on sale…

Manfrotto Advanced Active Backpack II for $64 [Prime Deal]

Let’s have another round of “Bag the Bags”! Good until 8:45pm ET, Amazon’s Prime day party is offering the new condition Manfrotto Advanced Active Backpack II, model MB MA-BP-A2, for $64 with free shipping. It is 36% claimed as of 3:47pm ET.

Hidden in the same listing is the new condition Manfrotto Active Shoulder Bag 7, model MB MA-SB-A7, going for $49.

This too is one of the Prime Day Deals, so you have to be a member to buy it ~ or be willing to start a free 30-day trial

Used Panasonic ZS200 superzoom for $469

The new condition Panasonic ZS200 goes for $699 in new condition at authorized dealers but if you are fond of the used cameras, and you are also a Prime member, you can get the black color scheme in “Used – Very Good” condition for $469 by Amazon Warehouse Deals or pay $20 more to get it in “Used – Like New” condition. This is a 15x optical zoom, closer to the travel zoom kind than let’s say those 125x optical zoom cameras πŸ™‚

Used Fuji X-A5 with 15-45mm XC for $337 [Prime Deals]

Another potentially interesting offer in the Warehouse 20% off promotion that is part of the ever-expanding Prime Day(s) deals…

We go back to X-Landia where the “Used – Like New” (original packaging; not even damaged packaging) Fuji X-A5 with 15-45mm XC goes for $337~ in the brown color scheme with multiple listings by Amazon Warehouse Deals itself ~ look for them as the seller ~ as explained in our earlier post which feels like it was written three days ago (but it was just 8 hours ago) πŸ™‚

The other two Fuji X-A5 color schemes don’t appear to be participating in the promotion (but I didn’t try it in the shopping cart)…

Used Sony RX100 Mark III for $393 [Prime only]

It’s up to you to sort out the various versions of the Sony RX100 and its competitors, but if you are interested in the RX100 Mark III and you are a Prime member, thanks to the 20% off Warehouse Deals in-cart discount you can get it for $393~ in “Used – Like New” (damaged original packaging) condition by Amazon Warehouse Deals itself. Look for them as the seller – that black-green “amazon warehouse” logo in the “Seller Information” column…

BUT if you are not a Prime member, hope is not totally lost ~ over there, KEH Camera is offering it for $429 in “Used – Good” condition and with a 180-day warranty…

Rokinon Prime Day Deals Have Began: 14/2.8 (N) for $236, 12/2 NCS CS (X) for $199, and more to come [Prime members only]

The first of the scheduled Rokinon prime lenses has gone live, it is the new condition Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC manual focus lens with a built-in AE chip for the Nikon system going for $236~ with free shipping. Prime members only. It is 20% claimed as of 10am eastern. It expires at 3:20pm ET or earlier if sold out.

Also gone live is the new condition Rokinon 12mm F2.0 NCS CS in the black color scheme for the Fuji X system going for $199. It is 17% claimed as of 10:09am ET. It expires 3:30pm ET or earlier if sold out.

You can find the rest of the Rokinon primes in the Camera & Photo Lightning Deals or you can see the list of times in our previously posted Coming Up post

Used Fuji X-T20 with 18-55/2.8-4 R OIS for $629 [Prime Deal]

The Warehouse Deals 20% off promotion for Prime members has another Fuji temptation, this time of the X System kind. The Fuji X-T20 with the 18-55 f2.8-4 R OIS lens goes for $899 in new condition at authorized dealers, but PRime members, thanks to the 20% off in-cart discount, can get it for $629 in “Used – Like New” condition (damaged original packaging) by Amazon Warehouse Deals itself

With the Fuji X-T30 being the “latest model”, going for $899 body only and $1299 with the 18-55 lens , it is not unreasonable to go used for the “previous generation” model.

A/V Prime Deal: Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H4 Wireless Headphones for $105

This A/V deal showed up while I was perusing the various Prime Day deals. For $105 or $115 you can get the new condition Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H4 Wireless Headphones depending on color. These are full size. The sale ends at 2:20pm eastern time (or earlier if sold out). They average 4/5 based on over 180 reviews. They are 6% and 4% claimed as of 9:10am eastern…

PS: fear not, the on-sale colors are black and gray. They are not lime green and electric orange with unicorns and spiders and rattlesnakes and Hello Kitty πŸ˜‰

EU: Nikon Coolpix P1000 superzoom for 777 euro [Prime Deal]

Why couldn’t they call them “euro dollars” to make it easier? πŸ™‚

This time Amazon Germany “defeats” The Mothership as they are having a Prime deal on the new condition Nikon Coolpix P1000 superzoom for the James Bond approved price of 777 euro. This has “just” a 125x optical zoom lens. And there was a time when there was awe in the camera forums when we got a 12x optical zoom πŸ™‚

[DEAD?] Waiting List OPEN: Nikon D3400 with 18-55 DX VR for $315 [Prime only]

UPDATE 10:51am ET: it looks like this deal is dead…

UPDATE 9:15am ET: this switches like a Yo-Yo between Waiting List FULL or OPEN. It may continue like this for a while…

UPDATE 9am ET: the Waiting List is now OPEN, so you can join the wait. There’s still no guarantee you will get a shot at it, but if you are gonna be near the internet, you can give it a shot…

As of 8:11am eastern, this is “100% Claimed” and “Waiting List Full” but the offer runs until the end of the day, so if you want to try to play the waiting game, you may get a shot at it. People have 15 minutes to get it once it is in their shopping cart. If they don’t get it, it goes to the next person in the Waiting List. As the 15 minute blocks go by with un-purchased units, more spots open up in the Waiting List. But there’s no guarantee you will get it because they have a finite number of items available for each lightning deal…

With that out of the way, it’s the new condition Nikon D3400 with 18-55 DX VR going for $315. Prime members only as usual…

Used Fuji X100F (Black) for $802 [Prime Deal]

From the blast to the past we now move on to something more modern, also made possible by the Warehouse Deals 20% off promotion for Prime members. The new condition Fuji X100F Big Sensor Prime goes for $1300 at authorized Fuji dealers…

… but IF you are a Prime member and you are willing to go “The Way of the Used”, you can get the black Fuji X100F color scheme in “Used – Very Good” (damaged original packaging) for $802~ by Amazon Warehouse Deals itself. Look for them as the seller in the listings. The other two X100F colors go for less by AWD itself but they don’t show the 20% off discount [I haven’t tested them in the shopping cart to be 100% certain they are not eligible for the discount]…

If you are not a Prime member but are very tempted by this offer, all you have to do is start a 30-day Free Trial and you can buy it within seconds…

Blast from the Past: Used Sony Cybershot P32 for $16 [Prime]

And now our obligatory flashback / blast-from-the-past type of deal, made possible by the previously mentioned 20% off Warehouse Deals in-cart discount for Prime members… We dial way back in the time machine for the “Used – Good” condition Sony Cybershot P32 digital camera dropping from $20~ to $16. This is the sold by Amazon Warehouse Deals itself listing.

Anker Powerbanks: Powercore 13000 for $25 and more [Prime]

And now the time is right for something utilitarian in the Amazon Prime Deals. Everything needs to be recharged these days, even the watches. So here’s a quartet of Anker power banks on sale, three consumer-tier and one more professional:

+ Anker PowerCore 13000 Portable Charger for $25 (two ports, PowerIQ, VoltageBoost)
+ averages 4.6 out of 5 based on nearly 7000 customer reviews

+ Anker PowerCore 10000 PD for $26
+ USB-C, 18W, etc
+ 4.4 out of 5 on 131 customer reviews

+ Anker PowerCore 20100mAh for $31~
+ 4.8A output
+ 4.5 out of 5 on 15,671 customer reviews

+ Anker Powerhouse 200, 200Wh/57600mAh Portable Rechargeable Generator for $240
+ averages 5 out of 5 with 8 customer reviews and 39 answered questions

Yeehao Wide-Angle Camera Type Thing for $101 {ends 12:15pm ET} [Prime Deal]

A second camera is currently live in the Prime Deals. In addition to the previously mentioned Canon SL2 deal, there’s also a lightning deal on a lesser known product, a curiosity of sorts, the new condition YeeHao Wide Angle Camera going for $102, also part of the PRIME deals. It is 70% claimed as of 7am ET and it expires at 12:15pm ET (or earlier if sold out).

IT is the first time I’ve seen this, so I know nothing (Jon Snow) about it. It averages 4.1 out of 5 based on 103 customer reviews with a 81% of them being 5-stars and 14% of them being 1-stars. Gallery picture #2 over there has a diagram of the camera to help you get started with it. The rotating LCD display and the add-on lenses create the illusion of a mirrorless camera to those looking at it for the first time (eg moi) πŸ™‚

[DEAD?] Canon SL2 Body for $314, with 18-55 STM for $384 [ends 5:30pm ET] {Prime Deal}

UPDATE 9am eastern: it looks like this deal is over. It either sold out or ended. It didn’t have a ticking clock or percentage-claimed like most lightning deals do. It was one of those semi-daily type of deals that usually appear during the holidays and on special events like Prime Day. I will monitor the situation and post an update if it returns…

ORIGINAL POST
A Salt Lake Rebel? That’s what the Canon SL-series stands for? Anyway good until 5:30pm ET on Tuesday (or earlier if sold out) you can get the new condition Canon SL2 body only for $314 in the black color scheme, and in either the black or the white color scheme you can get the new condition Canon SL2 with 18-55 EF-S STM lens for $384…

These was an unannounced deal, as it is often the case when the Gold Box has name-brand and high-value type of products. Otherwise everyone will be sitting on their PC waiting and it will all be gone within 60 seconds πŸ™‚

These too are part of the Prime Day deals. If you are not a Prime member and you must have it, you can always start a free 30-day Prime Trial and leave a note/alert in your calendar to cancel before the expiration. Although what Amazon is counting on is that you are gonna get hooked on the free 2-day delivery and the music and video streaming services and the ebook reading services and the million (seemingly) other Prime Benefits

NOTE that the SL2 is now the “previous generation” model. The Canon SL3 is the latest model which goes for $550 body only or $650 with the 18-55 lens. Almost twice the price.

Coming Up: Prime Day Lightning Deals including Rokinon wides, DataColor, Bags, Etc

Prime Deal: 20% off select items at Amazon Warehouse Deals

Day #2 of the Prime Day 2019 is upon us and now we have something for fans of USED products! It’s the return of the sale, the one you have all been waiting for!

Amazon Warehouse Deals is offering a 20% off in-cart discount of the current prices of many used items they carry, the ones sold by Amazon Warehouse Deals itself. You have to be a Prime member for this discount as well, so if you find any tempting deals, all you have to do is Start a 30-day free trial

Lots of electronics are participating including 31 items in the Camera & Photo category. You have to go the used listings view of a product to see this. Use the filter there on the left-hand side for “Prime” only if there are too many other sellers.

Eligible items show this on their individual listing:

Various Pelican and Nanuk cases in Prime Day Lightning Deals

We couldn’t possibly go through Prime Day without having a “Bag the Bags” type of a post… And as fate would have it, around this time, there’s a handful of Nanuk and Pelican camera cases making the rounds in the Lightning Deals. You can find them by perusing the 70-odd offerings that are currently available in the Camera and Photo category

Or if you want to cast a wider net, there are over 600 offerings in the Electronics category, of which “Camera and Photo” is typically a subset. Typically because I can’t really test every single listing, so I can’t say with 100% certainty πŸ™‚

And speaking of Prime Day deals, here’s a bundle of potential interest for Googloid fans, the 12.3″ Pixel Slate bundle consists of the Slate (12.3″, 2-in-1, Core m3, 8GB RAM, 64GB storage) bundled with the Pixel Slate keyboard, all together for $700 for Prime members…

Prime Deal: Fotodiox Mount Adapters for various older systems

Good until 3:05pm ET (or earlier if sold out) there is a Prime Day lightning deal on select Fotodiox lens mount adapters for various older camera systems. In addition to the Prime Day discount, some of them have a green clip-on coupon for 20% off that you see on the product page. I don’t know if the coupon discount is compatible with the Gold Box discount.

The 20% off clip-on coupon is for everyone, so you can get some discount even if you are not a Prime member…

Prime Deal: GoPRO HERO5 Black for $150

Good until 2:45pm ET (or earlier if sold out), Prime Members can get the new condition GoPRO HERO5 Black in e-commerce packaging for $150 with free shipping. As of the time of writing, it is 18% claimed…

Some of the other day-long Prime Day 2019 sales that I have yet to mention:

+ new condition 10.5″ iPad PRO with Cellular (previous generation) for $629 to $699 (storage varies from 256GB to 512GB; some colors cost more than others)

+ AiO, Tablets & Laptop sale, 27 options from Acer, Samsung, HP, ASUS, Dell, LG, Lenova, etc

+ Computer Gaming sale with computers and monitors with over 40 options from ASUS, MSI, Razer, Acer, CyberPower, Dell, iBuyPOWER, Corsair and more

+ Chromebook sale with 15 options from Acer, ASUS, Samsung, HP and Lenova with prices ranging from $145 to $600; with the Web bloating and ChromeOS adding features and OS bloat, it is a good idea to go for 4GB RAM, not 2GB RAM for Chromebooks ~ unless the usage plan is strictly uni-tasking with hunt-and-peck typing

Thursday: Kodak Film and Slider Scanner, PNY memory and storage

Monday: Samsung Chromebook sale ($200 to $400)

It’s Chromebook time of the Samsung kind. Along with the Levis jeans sale, the Monday Amazon USA Gold Box has a Samsung Chromebooks sale, with three models ranging from $200 to $400 with something for everyone!

The $200 model is the Chromebook 3 with a 11.6″ screen, 4GB RAM, 64GB on-board and Celery N3060 processor…

The other two models are 2-in-1s with touchscreens and with included Samsung S-Pens that are nestled inside the laptop body.

The PLUS has a 12.2″ screen (1920 x 1200, 4GB RAM, 64GB on-board, microSD slot with up to 400GB cards, Celery 3965Y, support for Google Play in parallel to ChromeOS [can be turned off is not needed]. This is the second generation (V2) model. This adds a USB-A port to the first generations two USB-C ports, so that’s one less dongle to carry. For HDMI or Ethernet, you need a USB-C/USB-A dongle.. It averages 4.7 out of 5 based on 21 customer reviews and it has nearly 50 answered questions… I haz the first generation and it’s really a great value for money if you can stomach Google-everywhere πŸ™‚

The $400 model is the PRO in the line but it is the first generation with a 3.8 out of 5 based on 404 [foreboding number?] customer reviews. It has a 12.3″ screen with 2400 x 1600 [but Samsung recommends running it at a lower resolution for optimal performance] with 4GB RAM, 32GB on-board, Core M3-6Y30, 12.3″ display, etc.

When upgraded to the latest OS versions, you should also see an option for “Linux Beta”.

Limit two of each option per customer at the sale price. Sale ends on Tuesday at 3am ET or earlier for any that sell out.

On the other hand, if you don’t need the extra features (eg S-Pen), and you feel like a boldly-going explorer of a new brand, the Amazon page recommended this $250 Poin2 Chromebook (Poin2 is the brand name) with 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, 14-inch screen, 180-degree hinge, IPS, touchscreen, MediaTek quadcore, SD card reader, HDMI, USB 3.0 Type A, USB-C, etc. There’s also a $3.47 off discount if you select “No Rush Shipping”… This is the first time I heard of this brand, so this is strictly for the boldly-going types…
