One such option adding to the complications is this manufacturer refurbished Canon D-Rebel T6i w/18-55 IS STM bundle at the official Canon USA store for $580 with free shipping that includes two freebies, the Canon BG-E18 Battery Grip and the Battery Pack LP-E17. This kit is the only one of the refurbished Canon DSLR kits that have a free battery grip promotion on them that are currently in-stock. The rest are out of stock (and cannot be ordered while they are out of stock). New Canon Two-Lens Bundle coming

Camera manufacturers have “(re)discovered” bundling! Canon has a brand new lens bundle, one prime, one zoom, and they are offered together, the 50mm f1.4 and the 17-40mm f4L, available for pre-order at B&H Photo for $1200. This however is NOT a good price as it stands, because the lenses can be purchased individually $330 (50mm f1.4) and $750 (17-40mm f4L). I suspect the bundle price will be adjusted when it gets closer to release, because $1200 is the list price of each lens before the seasonal “instant savings” promotions.

Refurbished Canon 24-105mm f4L IS w/1yr warranty for $540

The new condition Canon 24-105mm f4L IS USM EF lens goes for $1000 at authorized dealers, bundled with a handful of lens-y accessories, eg Adorama (filters, cleaning kit, tether, lens shade, Corel software bundle).

But if you want to pay almost half of that, you can get it in manufacturer refurbished condition with a 1-year warranty at the official Canon USA store for $540 with free standard US shipping. You can almost buy two for the price of one!

PS: I wonder how authorized dealers feel when the manufacturer undercuts them dramatically in price, while at the same time the manufacturer places strict restrictions on what prices authorized dealers can offer. Sounds -opoly-ish to me but I’m not an expert in this field, just a bloviator with a keyboard 🙂

New Irix 11mm f4 and 15mm f2.4 DSLR lenses begin shipping ($400 to $775) [C/N/P]

Pentax fans were not left out of these brand new third-party lenses. Some of the new Irix prime lenses are now in-stock and ready to ship at Adorama. Check each individual lens for availability on it. These are DSLR lenses available in the Canon, Nikon and Pentax K DSLR systems. There are two prime lenses, a 15mm f2.4 and a 11mm f4. Each lens comes in two variations, a Firefly, and a higher-quality Blackstone (costs $200 more than the Firefly equivalent). There is a table at the aforelinked page with the differences between the two lines.

The 15mm f2.4 goes for $400 in Firefly and $600 in Blackstone, while the 11mm f4 goes for $575 in Firefly and $775 in Blackstone. Another benefit of having two lines, is two opportunity for discounts instead of one 🙂

I don’t know if Amazon is price-matching someone/something, but as of the time of writing, the new condition Canon 80D with the 18-135mm IS lens is on sale for $1169 with free shipping at Amazon by Amazon herself. Limit up to five units per customer during this promotion. This is not a lightning deal. The body only goes for $1000, so this is a pretty good deal for the 18-135mm lens. Even if you don’t want it, you can make a nice profit selling/trading it.
