Surprise coupon discount (10% or 20% or 30% off) at Stacksocial (ends tonight)

Good until midnight tonight (it doesn’t say pacific or eastern) [and midnight is a temporally inaccurate term but that’s what it says] coupon code SURPRISE gets you either 10% off or 20% off or 30% off at Stacksocial. The discount is revealed after you enter the coupon. Due to time-constraints I can’t check their current inventory before midnight, so this is a DIY YMMV adventure. You can use the search box over there to look for keywords of interest (eg camera, wordpress, adobe, photography, etc).

Lowepro Pro Runner x450 Rolling AW for $150

The big announcement burst of MWC and CP+ [see Trade Show Calendar for future and past event dates] derailed my plans for a mega “Bag the Bags” round-up, but I’ll try to do one next week (I have to wait for a handful of offers to burst out in a short amount of time). In the meantime, the Lowepro Pro Runner x450 Rolling AW is on sale for a limited time for $150 with free expedited shipping at B&H Photo.

64GB Samsung EVO element-proof microSDXC w/adapter for $18 (limit 3)

If you have some of the newer smaller cameras that take microSD cards or use other non-camera cameras (smartphones, action cams, etc), and like the idea of element-proofness in memory cards (Water proof, Temperature Proof, X-Ray proof, Magnetic proof), the 64GB Samsung EVO Class 10 Micro SDXC Card with full size SD Adapter (up to 48/MB/s, model MB-MP64DA/AM) is on sale again for $18~ with a limit of three per customer at Amazon by Amazon itself. A marketplace seller (fulfilled by Amazon) has it for $0.55 less for the more adventurous shoppers. This currently “defeats” all the other options in its own line-up (16GB to 128GB). Note that the prices of this change very often, probably a combination of market-driven price-changes, price-matches, and things like that.

Free shipping if you are a Prime member, or with a order of $49+. Or if your order contains $25+ in books. More details on Amazon’s new free super saver shipping terms.

UPDATE: while we are talking microSDXC cards, the 128GB PNY microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1, model P-SDUX128U160G-GE, is on sale for $35 at B&H Photo (no limits) and Amazon itself (limit 3). Neither has unconditional free shipping. B&H has free shipping with a $49+ order, Amazon with a $49+ order (or if you have $25+ in Books OR if you are a Prime member). Maybe I need to create a free shipping flowchart graphic 🙂 [actually this sounds like a good idea!]

Genaray SpectroLED-14 Light (100-240VAC/12VDC) for $300

I ran out of light-related jokes, so until I get enlightened with new ones, it’s plain-speak here, the Genaray SpectroLED-14 Light (100-240VAC/12VDC) is on sale for $300 (it’s exactly $300.00, I don’t even need to round it, maybe retailers are finally seeing the light of rounded prices) with free expedited shipping at one of New York’s shiniest examples of a local star business, B&H Photo.

Induro ALLOY 8M Video Tripod Kit (100mm Bowl) for $189

Tripod sale now, the Induro ALLOY 8M Video Tripod Kit (100mm Bowl) is on sale for a limited time for $189 with free shipping at B&H Photo. This averages 4.8 out of 5 based on 17 customer reviews.

32GB Sony Class 10 SDHC for $7.19 (limit 1)

This fell off the front page, so in case you missed it, the 32GB Sony Class 10 UHS-1 SDHC up to 70MB/s Memory Card (SF32UY2) is currently on sale for $7.19 at Amazon by Amazon herself. Limit of one per customer. It beats the other storage options in its own sub-line (8GB to 256GB) in terms of $/GB. If you are a Prime member, you get free shipping even if you just buy this one and nothing else.

It is currently “temporarily out of stock” but you can still order it. Per the Amazon affiliate statistics, some of last week’s purchases have shipped, so there is a light at the end of the SD tunnel.

If you are not a Prime member, a $49+ total order of physical goods (shipped/fulfilled by Amazon) or an order that has $25+ in books, gets you the new free super-saver shipping. This is not a lightning deal.

PS: I don’t know how long it takes before the “limit 1” per customer restriction resets for future purchases. I haven’t purchased it yet, so I can’t test it yet. I have to check my SD card inventory first.

Summary of New Cameras and Lenses revealed today

This pre-order party is now over! You can find the newly announced cameras and lenses added to the New Cameras and Lenses of 2016 Tracking page and you can check today’s pre-ordering posts using the Pre-Orders category. As of the time of writing, some of the new items do not have a pre-order option or price, but they do have product pages which is a step in the right direction.

To summarize, Nikon launched a trio of 1-inch DL-series RAWsumers, and rebooted their Coolpix superzoom naming scheme with three new A/B cameras. Sigma revealed two new Foveon interchangeable lens cameras, but surprise, they are mirrorless and use the Sigma “Global Vision” SA mount lenses. One has an APS-H sensor, the other APS-C. Ricoh added a new waterproof camera, and Sony a new 4K camcorder with a 12x optical G lens.

On the lenses front, Tamron added two new stabilized full frame primes, a 85mm f1.8 and a 90mm f2.8 for Canon, Nikon and Sony DSLR mounts. Also coming is a Tamron console so photographers can update lens firmware on their own (for those Tamron lenses compatible with this). Sigma launched a new DN prime and a 50-100mm APS-C dSLR lens. For Sony E-mount cameras, Sigma has a new converter that allows them to mount either compatible Sigma Canon or Sigma Sigma SLR lenses. Sigma also launched a new EF-630 flash.
