100% Duracell Battery Rewards at Office Depot/Max now offers 20pk of Quantum (instead of 16pk Coppertop)

If you are a fan of the Office Depot and Office MAX Duracell battery rewards, there is another round and this time they are “upgrading” to the 20pk of Quantum batteries instead of the 16pk of Copppertops. This new offer runs between April 16-22 (2017). You can find it at the Office Depot Rewards page (fifth row).

The graphic above says “online only” while the terms at the bottom of the page (appended at the bottom of the post below) say good online or by phone/fax. To be on the safe side, do online-only unless you are certain phone/fax orders will qualify as well.

The link there points to these two eligible Quantum 20-pack options (AA or AAA). Per the terms, you have a limit of (up to) three for this shopping week. You can get any combination, eg [two AA and one AAA] or [three AAA] or [three AA] or [one AA] or [two AAA] or [one AA and one AAA] or any other combo that totals up to three.

You pay the full price ($14.99 per 20-pack) plus sales tax (if applicable). Shipping is free with a $35+ order. A few weeks later, your Office Depot Rewards account will have a $14.99 reward for every 20-pack you buy.

Because these are “Bonus Rewards”, they will be issued separately from the monthly Depot rewards (so they are not subject to the multiples of $10 evil restriction). They don’t always send emails when rewards are loaded, so you have to check manually. Sales tax is NOT included in the Rewards, that’s out of your pocket regardless.

Office Depot rewards do NOT roll. If you pay for this order with Rewards, you will NOT earn rewards. You must needs use “fresh money” (credit, debit, gift card, cash, etc).

“Bonus Rewards: 100% Back in Rewards on select Duracellยฎ Quantum Alkaline Batteries: Valid online, by phone or fax from 4/16/17 โ€“ 4/22/17 11:59 PM ET or while supplies last, whichever occurs first. Limit 3 offers per member. This offer cannot be combined with other Bonus Reward offers on the same or similar products and services.”

In-Stock Now: Fuji X100F in Silver and Black for $1300

In this “Stock Update Saturday” we have another addition to the Stock Status Tracker, the Fuji X100F big sensor prime, and this is currently in-stock for its starting price of $1300 as follows:

+ silver by Best Buy (eBay)

+ black by B&H Photo and Kenmore (eBay)

Used Fuji GFX-50S body for $5979 to $6000; New In-Stock for $6500

New addition to the Stock Status Tracker, the Fuji GFX-50S, it is in-stock for $6500 at multiple dealers, but if you are comfortable with used, you can get it for $5979 by Amazon Warehouse Deals itself (Amazon’s used sales persona, Prime eligible for members), or for $6000 by OneCall (Prime eligible) with a 1-year warranty from OneCall. Amazon’s own Warehouse Deals only promises a 30-day return policy, they don’t promise a warranty. From there, Adorama has it in “Used – Demo” condition for $6349 plus shipping (which is very close to the new condition price).

It is in-stock in new condition for $6500 at the usual places, including Adorama and B&H Photo and Amazon. Keep in mind, B&H and Adorama orders will ship beginning Wednesday April 19.

PS: blanket warning reminder for Amazon ~ Amazon has yet to figure out how to block the armies of spam/scam/bot sellers that offer high-demand items at ridiculously low prices in order to harvest customer data (and who knows what else they plan). These are typically “Just Launched” sellers, and they ask you to email them before buying.

The IN (Fuji X-T2, Canon 77D, Olympus E-M1 II) and OUT (Panasonic GH5) Report

With taxes finally done (don’t forget, Tuesday is the deadline for both the 2016 Tax Year and the first quarterly payment estimate for 2017), it is time to focus (pun intended) on the Stock Status Tracker. The bad news first, the Panasonic GH5 is out of stock at all the retailers I checked. The rest of the cameras tracked are good news for availability (bad news for your tax refund and/or wallet).

The Fuji X-T2 body only is back in-stock at Amazon by Amazon itself and a couple of 3rd-party sellers over there. The Prime-only restrictions are only for items sold and shipped by Amazon itself. 3rd-party sellers are happy to sell to anyone and everyone willing to pay ๐Ÿ™‚ It is also in-stock at B&H Photo but note that orders will ship April 19+ even if you select overnight shipping!

The Canon 77D has been steadily in-stock every time I checked, the BuyDig bundle with a handful of accessories (3rd-party flash, converter lenses, filters ,bag, 64GB card, remote, and the usual assortment of trinkets (card reader, cleaning kit, microfiber cloth, air blower) included for the same price of $900.

Multiple Olympus E-M1 II Options
The Olympus E-M1 II body continues to go for $2000 at authorized dealers with stackable Combined Purchase Lens Discounts but there are some opportunities for discounting if you don’t need the stackable offer:

+ USED (Demo Condition) for $1859 + S&H at Adorama

+ USED (Like New Condition) for $1879 by Cardinal (via Amazon)
+ NOTE: ignore/AVOID those “Just Launched” sellers at Amazon that offer it for less. They are trolling/phishing for customer/financial data

+ NEW CONDITION but you can negotiate using eBay’s Built-In and Blessed “Best Offer” process by Pixel Connection (starting price is $2000)

Canon 35mm f2.8 IS STM EF-S Gets A Price – And Available For Pre-Order Now!

The new Canon 35mm f2.8 IS STM EF-S (yes, the one with the built-in macro lite/light) now has a price! You can now pre-order it for $350 at Amazon by Amazon itself and B&H Photo and Adorama. The release estimate at the moment is June 10 (2017), which is not that far off, when you consider that Game Of Thrones Season 7 will arrive a month AFTER this lens is released ๐Ÿ™‚

The built-in light also raises an interesting question, could we be heading into a “smartphonization” of lenses? It would certainly help manufacturers with more sales as lenses would have to be upgraded much faster than previous decades ๐Ÿ™‚

Buy 2+ Different Canon Lenses, Get Bonus via AMEX MIR GC

If you need to buy Canon EF and/or EF-S Lenses, Canon has launched a big Buy MORE, Get MORE Lenses. You have to buy two (or more) different lenses to qualify for this offer. For example, getting a 50mm f1.4 and a 85mm f1.8 qualifies, but getting two 50mm f1.4 does NOT.

When you do that, you have to submit the mail-in rebate to Canon [PDF file], and a few weeks later, if all is well, you will receive a prepaid American Express Gift Card. I am not sure exactly how the Bonus amounts are calculated, they give a couple of examples but no formula. Promotion ends 4/29/17.

For more special offers, check the long and winding Canon USA Special Offers page.

Shipping Soon: 30-inch OLED Dell Ultrasharp UP3017Q for $3500

The dream of the 90s 10s is alive in Portland Dellandia! Shipping in 1-2 weeks is the brand new 30-inch OLED Dell Ultrasharp UP3017Q for $3500. Image a Samsung Galaxy S8 screen but 30-inches and without Samsung Experience TouchWiz ๐Ÿ™‚ This has 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz resolution, DCI-P3 97.5%, Adobe RGB 100%, and various connectors including USB Type C but not Type A. Of course the OLED thing is what makes it priced like that.

Meanwhile Dell’s other star monitor, their 32-inch 8K Ultrasharp has been pushed to June continuing with its $5,000 price tag. 8K being 7680 x 4320 at 60 Hz, that’s a 30+ megapixel image on-screen.

New Walmart feature rolling out: Store Pickup discount on select items

Starting April 19 (2017) Walmart will begin rolling out a new feature, if you select store pickup for a purchase, you may be able to get a small discount on the purchase price. In other words, they are paying you to do the delivery to yourself ๐Ÿ™‚ This feature will slowly ramp up, they are planning to include 1 million items by the end of June. As usual, YMMV depending on product availability and location. This will be offered on the 48 contiguous US States.

I am guessing this is a feature that got inspired by the Jet team, which has all kids of nickle-dimer discounts on the Jet website (pay less if you forgo returns, pay less if you pay with debit card, pay less if you buy in quantity, etc). I don’t know if the other Jet features will make it to Walmart, but for now, if you are fond of store pickup, you may be able to save!

More details on the Walmart blog.

PS: if you are a Prime member, and you pay with either the Amazon Chase VISA or the Amazon Store Credit card, you get 5% back on your purchases as cashback or a statement credit. In this case, 5% of this is $65, not a small amount!

PS2: if you have an Amazon Store credit card, you may be offered a 12-month 0% APR financing promotion as long as you pay it in full in 12 months. The financing offer cannot be combined with the 5% statement credit, so you have to pick one or the other. The shopping cart will guide you through it if eligible.

62mm AmazonBasics UV Protection Lens Filter for $4.52
