Google Pixel 4 for $500+, Pixel 4 XL for $600+

The ghosts of the Nexus phones are haunting the Pixel 4, but if you’ve read the reviews, pixel-peeped the sample pictures, and you are certain the Pixel 4* line is the one for you, for a limited time B&H Photo is having discounts on select Pixel 4 phones as follows:

+ Pixel 4: 64GB for $500, 128GB for $600

+ Pixel 4 XL: 64GB for $600, 128GB for $700

These are new condition, factory unlocked, with USA warranty. B&H includes a free case and Mint Mobile SIM card.

NOTE that the Pixel 4 phones do NOT have a headphone jack, and they do NOT have a microSD slot. But you can swim in the Google Clouds 🙂

A lot of people consider the Pixel 4 to have the most pure camera, but not all agree. For example, it is currently at #19 in the DxoMark rankings which have two of the new Honor *30* phones in the Top 5. SPOILER ALERT: the #1 in the ranking is a …LEICA 🙂

NOTE that the latest Huaweii P40* series of phones do NOT have Google Play because of the Huaweii embargo thing. If you look in the forums, there are various hacks that come and go, but come on, it’s 2020, who wants to hunt and peck hacks just so you can run basic apps on your phone?

I remember doing this ten years ago with a crappy Pandigital (?) tablet I got on sale at Radio Shaq. No way I would do this now, there are a gazillion other phones available. But that’s just me. Some people love the excitement of living on the Google Play Frontier 🙂

Samsung Galaxy S20 for $800, S20+ for $1000 [with FREE 128GB microSD]

A limited time offer is running at B&H Photo on the new condition unlocked with USA warranty Samsung S20 and S20+ flagship series smartphones! And during this promotion, each one gets a free 128GB Samsung EVO Plus microSDXC card included by B&H.

The prices are as follows: the 128GB S20 goes for $800, while the 128GB S20+ (aka Plus) goes for $1000, while the 512GB of that goes for $1150.

Further down the list, and not getting the free 128GB microSD card you will find international Latin America versions of the S20 Ultra (the more expensive of this flagship trio) going for $1200. One clue as to the internationality is the “dual SIM” in the title. These come with a 1-year B&H warranty. NOTE that this has the Exynos chip, not the QualComm SnapDragon.

NOTE also that these are 5G phones, so you may accidentally intercept intergalactic planetary conversations 🙂

If you are interested in the 11-inch 2020 iPad PRO, the 128GB version has dropped just $10~ down to $789, but the “Space Gray” of the 256GB version is down to $849 at B&H Photo, while the other color is at $879. If you are of the Apple persuasion, B&H has a number of other Apple promotions and offerings…

And per the Fairness Doctrine (TM) we must needs mention a competitor, Google has Work from Home Router offers, both their own “Google Wifi” routers and the Nest products…

And for students of all ages learning from home, they have created a new Home Schooling portal with related products and offerings…

Pre-order the new iPad PROs and the new Magically Magical and Amazingly Wonderful Keyboards

Leave it to Apple to launch a tablet keyboard that costs more than most non-Apple tablets in the market today. If that hasn’t scared you away, keep on reading 🙂

The Magic Keyboard for the 11-inch goes for $299, while the Magic for the 12.9-inch goes for $349. iOS updates are coming for some of the older iPad PROs to be able to use this new magically magical and amazingly wonderful device 🙂

The new iPad PROs are available for pre-ordering at B&H Photo with the 11-inch starting at $799 (128GB) an the 12.9-inch starting at $999 (128GB). The storage jump from 128GB to 256GB is +$100, but the other two jumps (256 to 512, 512 to 1TB) are +$200 each, with the 1TB options being +$500 of the base option for each screen size. The LTE options is +$150. Finally the days of the 16GB and 32GB and 64GB are over 🙂

In-Stock NOW: Google Pixel 3a for $299, 3a XL for $379

Per the Deals Fairness Doctrine (TM), since we’ve been posting iOS/Apple deals left and right, we must needs post something Android as well, and as fate would have it, Google’s brand new Pixel 3a models are now in-stock and shipping at B&H Photo! The Pixel 3a standard model goes for $299 while the XL model goes for $379.

Unlike the iPhones, the only option here is on the body color. The “3a” has a modest 5.6″ 18.5:9 OLED with Snapdragon 670, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, Bluetooth 5.0, Android 9 and *GASP* a headphone jack 🙂 The “3a XL” [they really need to work on the naming-numbering scheme] has a 6-inch screen. Free unlimited storage on Google Photos is included along with three years of OS and security updates.

UPDATE: per the “Post Saving Doctrine”, to save up on having an additional short post, B&H is also having a sale on various computer monitors as more and more people are working from home and may need more or better monitors…

The silver lining of the Corona-mandated “work from home” is an opportunity for many companies and individuals and cities and states to study work from home ideas and programs to further reduce traffic and congestion in places where it’s impossible not to be in a traffic jam always and forever and ever!

Pre-order new 10.2-inch iPads starting at $329

A sign perhaps of Apple’s need to drive more sales among the “mere mortals”, this week saw the first official live-stream of a big Apple event in the modern era on YouTube and this was backed up by a Tim Cook statistics on the iPad ~ a lot of the iPad users are new and non-iPhone users, the iPad is bringing fresh blood in the shoppe.

Which brings us to the just-announced 10.2-inch iPads, they are now available to pre-order at B&H Photo with prices starting at $329 (Wifi, 32GB) and going +$100 for the jump to 128GB. For fans of 4G LTE, they have the usual +$130 on the Wifi-only model.

And there’s good reason iPads are keep getting bought up by non-platform users. Both Microsoft and Google tablets are in a state of non-existent confusion. Google can’t decide if they want Android or ChromeOS or both or neither for their tablets 🙂 Microsoft can’t decide which variant of “Windows Lite” to launch this month 😉

PS: if the CEO of Apple can get away with saying “eggspecially” can I also do it? Or is this too part of the Apple script to make the presentation feel more conversational/human/casual/relatable? I’m eggspecially interested in finding out!
