YMMV (eBay sellers): 80 free listings (fixed price or auction)

This is a YMMV promotion. Check your email (associated with your eBay account) or your eBay Messages to see if you qualify. From now until October 15 (2015), you can list to sell up to 80 items, either fixed price or auction style listings. If you find auction-style listings too cumbersome, this offer is good news because fixed price listings are also included. Free are the Insertion Fees. You still have to pay the Final Value Fees (for items that sell) and any other upgrade or optional add-ons to your listings. Check the email/message for the full terms/conditions.

Free One Year of Unlimited Amazon Cloud storage with Camera Gear purchase of $50+ (33,403 options available)

Amazon is very big on cloud (side-effects of living in Seattle?), and now they have yet another unlimited cloud storage promotion. This one is not limited to Prime members or Fire Phone users. During this promotion, you get One Year Unlimited Amazon Cloud storage if you purchase camera gear individually priced $50 or more. This is The List of Eligible Items, a total of 33,403 items are eligible.

They must be sold and shipped by Amazon itself (not by marketplace sellers). The offer is one per customer, so you cannot stack cloud-years. You can find the Terms And Conditions below the giant thumbnails over there. The expiration date is not mentioned.

After the one year ends (12 months), the subscription fee for this is $60/year. You can cancel it later if you don’t want to continue with it once the free year expires.

How to Check If Your Item Of Interest is Eligible?
If you don’t feel like traversing a list of 33,403 items to find whether you are interested in is eligible, there is an easier way. Go to the product page of the items of interest, and page down to the Special Offers section. If an item is eligible, you will see this offer mentioned there. Remember, Amazon herself must be the seller, not 3rd-party sellers! Squeezed annotated screenshot crop below…

YMMV 2x eBay Bucks on $50+ items (must opt-in, ends Sat 3am ET)

eBay has yet another bonus eBay Bucks promotion, check your emails or eBay inboxes to see if you are eligible. As usual you have to manually opt-in. The standard eBay Bucks are 2%, so 2X = 4%. This promotion gives you 2X (= 4%) promotional rewards on every individual item that is priced at $50 or higher. This works on as many eligible items as you purchase during this promotion period, with a maximum of $100 rewards per transaction and $500 rewards per customer during this promotional period. Offer ends at 3am ET on Saturday 8/29/15… A good place to start looking for deals (after you manually opt-in for the offer) are the eBay Daily Deals

Next Free Entrance at National Parks is September 26

Ooops, I am definitely not Doctor Who – time confusion, August 25 was yesterday. But the next free day is about a month away, September 26 in 2015 (National Public Lands Day), plenty of time to plan ahead, since planning ahead for -1 days (August 25) is slightly difficult without the use of a Tardis…

If you live near one of the 127 national parks (out of 408 total) that charge admission/entrance, on specific days every year (MLK, Prez weekend, Park Week, National Park Service Birthday, Public Lands Day, Veterans Day), you can get FREE admission. Details, restrictions, list of parks, and days/dates that offer free admission for all can be found at the National Park Service website.

TIP: great way to build a large library of “busy day at national park” stock photos 🙂

BorrowLenses 20% off and extra day with select Labor Day rentals coupon

BorrowLenses has a rental double special for Labor Day. Coupon code GETGEAR20 gets you 20% off and if your rentals are scheduled to overlap with Labor Day, you will also get an extra day for free. The coupon is simple, the latter is a bit more complicated. It is explained in detail at the Borrow Lenses website. The coupon is for rentals of camera gear, not purchases.

Thank You Points: 20% off on select Reward Redemptions (GoPro, a couple of Coolpix)

Good until 8/31/15, if you have enough Citibank Thank You Rewards points, they are having a 20% off redemption sale on select items available through their rewards program. The offer slideshow shows the Nikon Coolpix S7000 and S33 waterproof, the GoPro Hero + Handler, etc. I don’t know if the list of rewards differs depending on which credit cards you have linked to your Thank You account so there might be a bit of YMMV. No coupon needed, the points needed to redeem are adjusted automatically by them.

Strategically this may be a good deal if the discounted redemption price in points is lower than the actual price at major retailers, and if it is better compared to other redemptions (eg gift cards for various retailers).

YMMV (eBay Sellers): free 1000 auction-style items with free subtitles (Aug 20-26)

This is a targeted offer, so YMMV. Check your email or eBay messages. One offer that is circulating now that runs between August 20-26 in 2015 gets you 1000 free auction-style items (including relists) with free subtitles. Check the terms and conditions of the offer. Might be of interest if you sell prints or want to have a virtual garage sale of gear you no longer need.

$20 off a $50+ Amazon Prime Now order with coupon (first time PrimeNow orders only)

Amazon seems to be having a midlife crisis Big Bang of sorts because they are expanding in all kinds of different ways. If you live in an area that is eligible for Prime Now delivery (one hour delivery of your purchases; for Prime members only) and you haven’t placed a Prime Now order before, you can get $20 off your first order of $50 or more with coupon code TRYITNOW entered over there. An expiration date is not mentioned.

Items must be ordered with the PrimeNow app and be sold and shipped by Amazon and eligible for Prime Now. You can find more details and the full terms and conditions at the PrimeNow page. Strategically this may be handy if you are purchasing products that have the same price everywhere at reputable/authorized dealers.’

PS: I can’t test this because I am not in a PrimeNow delivery zone (yet), so I can’t tell you about the mechanics of the ordering. Prime Now is different from Prime Pantry which is different from AmazonFresh Prime which is different from Prime Student which is different from Prime Mom which is different from Prime Squared 😉

AMEX Offer (YMMV): Spend $75+, Get $15 statement credit at Exposures Online

If you have an American Express credit card, check your Offers section (below the account summary when you logon to your account – on the desktop browser page). Their computers decide who(m) to offer this, so there is a YMMV here. One of the recently added offers is this: pay $75+ and get $15 back as a statement credit to your AMEX account at ExposuresOnline.com (they sell photo albums, picture frames, etc). You have to manually opt-in to the offer (by clicking the “Add to Card” button) before you use it. Once you opt-in, the discount happens automatically on the back-end. They will send you an email once a qualifying transaction arrives at their system. This offer ends 10/14/15 and can be used once during this promotional period.

This applies to everyone: when you visit the Exposures Online site for the first time, a window pops that offers you a 15% off coupon discount if you are willing to enter your email to join their email list.

10% off sitewide at Monoprice with coupon (ends Thur PM)

Good until the end of day on Thursday 8/20/15, coupon code HOT gets you 10% off Monoprice.com on Monoprice branded items. The 3D printer and a few other items are excluded. The Tamron lenses are not eligible since they are not Monoprice-branded (yes, Monoprice sells Tamron lenses!). Monoprice has a variety of aggressively priced camera and photo products. Search for the items of interest, or peruse their Camera and Video pages.

20% off at Borrow Lenses with coupon

Another coupon promotion from BorrowLenses.com. Use coupon code GETGEAR20 to get 20% off a rental order. You must place the order by 8/31/15 and the order must be received by 9/4/15. The coupon covers rentals of cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, bundles or anything else they offer for rent. Aquatech products are excluded. This promotion can only be combined with a BL membership discount (a membership is $99 per year, with an automatic 10% off discount on rentals, free t-shirt and a couple of other benefits).

7% back on Tech at Rakuten with coupon

A lot of recent camera models are rarely discounted, so one way to get some kind of a discount is through rewards. Case in point, Rakuten (Buy.com) is offering 7% back in Rakuten rewards on technology (and 15% back on everything else) when you use coupon code REWARDME when you make a purchase at Rakuten.com. Offer ends by the end of day on 8/20/15.

This is not a discount, but reward points added to your Rakuten account. Reward points are promotional points, they have to be spend within a specified amount of time, which makes this perhaps a better offer for frequent shoppers there.

15% off Borrow Lenses coupon

BorrowLenses.com offers a 15% off discount by using coupon code BTS15 on any rental order that starts by Friday 8/21/15. The coupon expires 8/17/15.

YMMV Targeted Offers from eBay (sell) and PayPal (buy)

These are separate targeted offers, so there is a big YMMV depending on how their computers decide how to offer these, but both eBay and PayPal are running separate promotions until 8/31/15. PayPal’s offer says if you spend $150+ in August, you will earn a mystery reward for September that ranges between $10 and $100… Meanwhile eBay goes to the other end, you earn a $25 bonus coupon if you list and sell something before the deadline… Both offers require manual opt-in before you can take advantage of them… Again, this is a YMMV depending on one’s activity and/or inactivity with these services…

YMMV Targeted AMEX Offers: Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, Google Play, Sam’s Club, etc

American Express has a number of new targeted offers. To see if you are eligible, you have to login to your account(s) and check the Offers section. Their computers decide on how and when to offer these, probably a combination of all the data they have hoarded on the accounts 🙂 You have to first add the offer to your account, and then make the purchase. AMEX is pretty good at this, you usually get an email confirmation shortly after an eligible transaction goes through. Needless to say, you have to pay with the AMEX credit card that the offer is on. If you have multiple cards on the same account, make sure you pay with the one that has the offer activated! Some of the floating offers:

+ Spend $5+ at Amazon, Get $5 statement credit
+ Spend $5+ at Google Play, Get $5 statement credit
+ Spend $20+ at Sam’s Club, Get $20 statement credit
+ Spend $79+ at Walmart, Get $15 statement credit
+ Spend $250+ at Best Buy, Get $25 statement credit
+ Spend $250+ at Unique Photo, Get $50 statement credit

Some may be good online only, others in-store only, some both. Check the details of each particular offer. Some may be one time use during the promotional period, others may have multiple uses.

Best Buy’s eBay store has tech sale on eBay

The Best Buy eBay store is having a featured tech sale on eBay with free store pickup (where available) or free shipping with an order of $35+. You can filter the camera and photo items using the sidebar on the left side over there. There are sixty items listed under Camera and Photo. Due to time constraints I cannot price-check them at posting time, so it is a DIY adventure.

15% off at LivingSocial with coupon

The madness continues! LivingSocial has a new 15% off sitewide coupon, coupon 15BACK gets you 15% off, with a maximum discount of $20 at LivingSocial.com. The coupon ends 8/16/15 11:59pm PT. Search for photo or prints or other photo-related services. Restrictions apply, pasted after the jump if you are not familiar with the Livingsocial coupon restrictions:

Free shipping at Target (no minimum purchase)

Good until 8/15/15, the Target website is offering free shipping to the 48 contiguous states and APO/FPO. No coupon needed. Some oversized items may not be eligible. While they don’t have the inventory of a dedicated camera shop, you may find useful things, eg accessories that you can’t get with free shipping elsewhere. (As usual, you get 5% back if you pay with their own REDcards).

A couple of places to fish for deals: their Camera & Photo page and their Clearance page.

Speaking of Target, this eBay offer is Pay $185, Get $200 Target Gift Card with free shipping (physical gift card), from Gift Card Mall’s eBay store. (since it’s a physical card it probably won’t get to you in time for the aformentioned Target free shipping promotion).

25% off at REI Outlet store (one item only)

If you are an outdoors photographer and/or need/use outdoors gear often, the REI Outlet store is offering 25% off the purchase price of one outlet item. The shopping cart will automatically select the highest priced item in your shopping cart and discount it. No coupon needed. Offer ends 8/14/15. Details and exclusions listed at the bottom of the aforelinked page.

PS: prices of REI Outlet items rhyme with “.73” (eg $9.73, $126.73, $569.73, etc).

Save up to 30% at BorrowLenses with coupon

Borrowlenses has a new coupon, LEVELUP can get you up to 30% off your next gear rental when you place an order by 8/10/15 and receive/pickup by 8/14/15. The coupon savings depend on the rental amount as follows:

(ENDED) Ends Thur 3am ET: earn 4X eBay Bucks on $100+ items (must opt-in)

This offer ended but the eBay Bucks bonus promotions are recurring…

If you are a member of the eBay Bucks rewards program, check your email or eBay inbox. There’s a new bonus bucks promotion running until 3am ET on Thursday 8/6/15. You earn 4X the regular amount of rewards (= 8% of purchase price) on individual items priced $100 or more. You MUST first manually opt-in to the offer from the eBay email/messages before you can take advantage of it. The usual terms and exclusions apply (eg maximum reward of $100 per transaction ($1250 purchase) and maximum $500 rewards ($6250 {corrected math} in purchases) per Earn Period). A good place to start looking for deals is the eBay Deals page.

5% rewards at Rakuten with coupon code

If you are a frequent Rakuten Rewards points user, they have a new promotion for the whole month of August 2015. Use coupon code REWARDME to get 5% back in Rewards Points. This is not a discount on the purchase price, but rewards to use on future purchases. The rewards have expiration dates. Check the full terms and conditions over there.

70% off at REI Outlet (935 options)

The REI Outlet is having a 70% off sale (the price you see are the prices you pay, no coupons/rebates). A total of 935 options are available, a lot of outdoorsy and travel items for photographers who spend time in nature and/or traveling and/or backyard adventuring.

If you are an REI member ($20 one-time (not annual) membership fee), they have a promotion that gets you a $20 promotional bonus card if you spend $100+ between 7/21 – 8/2 in 2015 (see details). Members also receive a 10% annual dividend on eligible purchases which you can use to buy items or even redeem for actual cold hard cash. However, outlet and sale items do not earn a 10% dividend: they are hippies (REI is a collective) but they still have to stay in business 🙂
