YMMV 8% eBay Bucks on $100+ individual items

If you are part of the eBay Rewards Program (eBay Bucks) you may be eligible to participate in an 8% eBay Bucks rewards promotion on purchases of individual items priced at $100 or higher. Check your emails or eBay messages to see if the eBay computers selected you for this particular promotion. You have to manually activate the offer before you earn the bonus rewards. The offer is good until April 21st at 11:59pm pacific. The typical limits and exclusions apply (you can find them in the email/message).

I have no way of knowing what percentage of eBay Bucks users are participating in each one of these promotions. I can only see the ones sent to my eBay account, but eBay seems to be sending them to different groups of shoppers at different times. Or something like that. The computers are taking over 🙂

A couple of places to look for ideas are the eBay Deals and the Top 100 Trending Deals.

First time Groupon customers: $10 off $25+ coupon

Groupon is trying to tempt new customers to try their service with coupon code WELCOME that gets you $10 off a purchase of $25 or more from the Groupon website. Most offers are eligible but some local offers and consumer electronics are not eligible. Must be used on the desktop or mobile website, not the app. Limit one use per customer. This is a good way to try out different photo print services. Use the search bar over there to search for things like “photo” or “canvas” or “custom photo book” or photography classes or wood or metal prints and such. Their search bar has auto-complete so it will give you pointers.

Staples: $25 off $100+ order with VISA Checkout

Staples does not have the selection and variety of dedicated camera retailers, but they do have some camera and photo gear, and also a variety of degrees of separation gear (memory cards, hard drives, monitors, etc), not to mention office supplies if you have a studio or small business. Which brings us to a limited time offer, if you use VISA Checkout to pay for your order, you get $25 off an order of $100 or more.

Ideas for things to buy: their Camera and Photo main page and their Daily Deals ever-scrolling page.

Some of the items ship to you, some of them are available for store pickup, some are available for ship-to-store. many are available in two or all of those options. If you are a Staples Rewards member, you get free shipping on orders of $15+.

Woot April 2016: pay $5 flat shipping only ONCE during the month

It can risky when companies make serious announcements on April Fool’s Day (that’s when Gmail was born!), especially if they participate in April Fool’s Day jokes, but this one is not a joke. For the whole month of April 2016, you only pay $5 shipping ONCE for everything you buy from Woot (except Wine and International Shirt). So instead of paying $5 flat shipping per day, you only pay it for the first order you make in April 2016. Subsequent April 2016 orders will get free shipping. This is not the first time they run a promotion like this. Details at the Promotion page.

Spring Clearance at Adorama (4200+ items)

Adorama is having a Spring Clearance Sale with over 4200 items participating. You can use the various options in the left sidebar to filter them by product categories and manufacturer and price range or condition (eg refurbished). Unfortunately my brain is a 900 MHz Celeron so I can’t go through 4200+ items in milliseconds, so it may take a while for me to sift through them 🙂

Limited time Stacksocial coupon ($10/$55+, $15/100+, $20/$150+)

For a limited time only, Stacksocial has three coupon discounts as follows:

+ SAVE10 is $10 off a $55+ order
+ SAVE15 is $15 off a $100+ order
+ SAVE20 is $20 off a $150+ order

YMMV 10% on eBay Bucks until 3/30/16 PM (must opt-in)

If you are participating in the eBay Bucks rewards program, there is a new promotion emailed out good until 3/30/16 at 11:59pm pacific. You earn 10% back in eBay Bucks on any eligible purchase (no minimum amounts this time). The usual restrictions apply (you can find them in the email or eBay Inbox message). This is a “bury the lead” offer, the email advertises a 20% back on Fashion items, with the 10% buried below it. The email is titled “HUGE BONUS—earn up to 20% eBay Bucks.”

A good place to look for specials are the eBay Daily Deals and their accompanying Trending Deals Top 100 (some of the deals may be auto-tuned or oversampled).

Q2 2016: 5% on Warehouse Clubs with Chase Freedom

If you shop at warehouse clubs (eg BJ’s, Sam’s Club, etc), and you have a Chase Freedom credit card, their 2nd quarter (4/1 to 6/30 in 2016) 5% cashback promotion includes purchases at some warehouse clubs. This is capped at $1500 per card for the whole quarter. Warehouse clubs have limited camera and photo selection, but if they happen to have any cameras and lenses you want/need, then that’s an extra 5% for you to spend in the future. If you have multiple cards, and camera purchases over $1500, you can split the purchase between two cards (if possible).

You have to manually opt-in for this promotion at the Chase website or using the 1-click reminder emails (if you signed up for those). You have until mid-June to retroactively activate it, but if you activate now, you will earn the rewards now as opposed to two months later. Or you may forget.

PS: the Chase pages mention BJ and Sam’s Club by name. They do not mention Costco. I do not know if Costco is not mentioned simply because the other ones may be paying to be featured or not. To be certain, try a small purchase first or contact the Chase customer service. I don’t have a Costco membership so I cannot test it ~ you will know I have a Costco membership when the prizes for blog contests are 100pks of socks and toilet paper 😉

Surprise coupon discount (10% or 20% or 30% off) at Stacksocial (ends tonight)

Good until midnight tonight (it doesn’t say pacific or eastern) [and midnight is a temporally inaccurate term but that’s what it says] coupon code SURPRISE gets you either 10% off or 20% off or 30% off at Stacksocial. The discount is revealed after you enter the coupon. Due to time-constraints I can’t check their current inventory before midnight, so this is a DIY YMMV adventure. You can use the search box over there to look for keywords of interest (eg camera, wordpress, adobe, photography, etc).

eBay Mobile App coupon: $5 off a $20+ order

In an email to registered users earlier today, eBay has a new promotion trying to encourage shoppers to download and use its mobile app. To make it so, the app will have a coupon for $5 off a purchase of $20+. The coupon must be used within the app. The terms say “Only invited, registered eBay users who receive the Coupon in My eBay are eligible”. Their email has more details on how to use it. I haven’t done this, so I don’t know what happens next…

Adorama Clearance, Open Box, Overstock and Refurbished sales (1000+ items)

It’s a new year and January is often a clearance month as CES ushers in new waves of new products. Adorama has a number of pages with various items as follows. There are over 1000 items listed in the links below, and due to time constraints I can’t go through them at this time. If you feel like deal-fishing, here they are:

+ Refurbished Sale (75 items, about half of them from Nikon)
+ Overstock Sale (580 items from many different manufacturers)
+ Open-Box items (42 options, printers, monitors, etc)
+ Specials and Instant Rebates (435 items from many different manufacturers)

5% Rewards with Coupon at Rakuten (ends 1/31/16)

If you are a participant in the Rakuten (formerly Buy.com) Rewards program, coupon code REWARDME gets you 5% back in rewards site-wide until 1/31/16. This is useful for tech purchases since they rarely participate in rewards promotions. Non-tech items get higher percentage (presumably because higher margins allow for more flexibility). More details at the Rakuten website.

10% off Goods, 20% off Local at Groupon with Coupon

Groupon has a new site wide coupon, coupon code JUMBO3 gets you 10% off on Goods (most of the camera-related gear is here), and 20% off Local (a lot of the photo prints and services and classes are here). You can navigate by categories and sub-categories or simply use the search bar to search for brands or product categories (eg prints, DSLR, etc) of interest at the Groupon website. The coupon expires at the end of day on 1/22/16 (Friday). The promotion has been extended by an additional day (1/21/16 (Thursday))

The restrictions on the coupon are as follows: you can use it up to three times in Goods, up to three times in Local and up to three times in Gateways. You can only get one unit of each offer discounted. For example, you can buy three different cameras (X1, Y1, Z1), but only one unit of each camera (one X1, one Y1, one Z1) will be discounted by the coupon. The maximum discount is $50 per deal.

YMMV eBay Bucks up to 4X (8%) in Rewards

This is a YMMV promotion, check your emails or eBay Messages to see if you are invited to participate in this promotion. You must manually opt-in by activating the offer before you start shopping. Running between 8am ET today and 2:59am ET on Friday, you earn eBay Bonus Bucks on purchases as follows:

+ 4% (2X) on every qualifying item of $50 or more
+ 6% (3X) on every qualifying item of $100 or more
+ 8% (4X) on every qualifying item of $150 or more

These are rewards to be used in future purchases, not discounts on the current purchase price. The promotion is triggered by the prices of individual items, not on your shopping cart total. Meaning if you buy one item for $51, you get 4% rewards. If you buy ten $29 items, you get no bonus rewards (you still get the standard 2% (1x) rewards).

You can earn multiple rewards during this promotion. The caps are $100 reward per item and $500 total during this promotional period. The usual exclusions apply (no eBay Gift Cards, no Classifieds, no Real Estate, etc). The promotional email/message has all the details.

A couple of good places to start looking for deals are the eBay Daily Deals page along with the eBay Trending Deals page.

If you do a lot of photo prints at your local CVS stores, one of the latest featured eBay Deals is a plastic $100 CVS Gift Card offered for $88 with free shipping by eBay seller SVM Gift Cards (99.6%). This is a mail delivery plastic physical gift card. Limit three per buyer.

$20 off a $100+ order at Monoprice with coupon [also 6ft HDMI cable for $2 shipped]

Monoprice is slowly but steadily expanding into a bigger internet player. With shipping facilities in the middle of the country and the carrying products from other manufacturers. For a limited time, they have a coupon offer, Get $20 OFF an order of $100+ with Promo Code 1STDOWN entered over there. This is good for almost all the Monoprice-branded products. The few excluded Monoprice items, along with excluded 3rd-party manufacturer items can be found over there under the “excluding the following PIDs” link.

Strategically, this is good if you are planning to buy a variety of small accessories or a single item $100+. They have all kinds of camera and photo related items, either search for items of interest (camera bags, tripods, etc) or navigate the menus to the appropriate categories. Likewise for tech-related degrees-of-separation-from-photography accessories.

Speaking of Monoprice, their 6ft 30AWG High Speed HDMI Cable is on sale for $0.99, with a limit of five per customer. If you only buy these, shipping is a flat $0.99. So you pay $2, and you get one HDMI cable delivered to your front door. This offer ends 1/17/16.

While there, they also have a sale on select Computer Monitors, some of their own, and some form third-party manufacturers (LG, Dell, HP, Acer, etc), along with monitor mounts and cables and such. The sale prices are what you see there, no coupon is needed. This offer ends 1/17/16… In parallel they have a Computer Sale, no coupon needed, good until 1/19/16…

Also pay attention to the various messages and banners over there, pointing you to clearance sales and “monocles” and other assorted promotions.

Free shipping continues at Fry’s website

The Fry’s Electronics website started a free shipping for everything promotion on their website in early November 2015, and even though the holidays are over, the promotion continues. A specific expiration date is not mentioned on the promotional page.

This limited time offer ended… If you are a Rakuten shopper, coupon code REWARDME gets you 5% back in Rakuten points until the end of day on 12/24/15 at the Rakuten website. These are rewards points to be applied to future purchases, not a discount on the current purchase.

Free Next Day Delivery on $299+ (under 20 lbs) at MacMall

If you are looking to purchase Apple related products, MacMall.com is offering free NEXT DAY delivery on orders of $299 or higher, weighing under 20 lbs. The order deadline for this promotion is Wednesday 12/23/15 at 9pm Eastern.

PS: it should go without saying, but for all the retailers offering last minute free next day or 2-day delivery, this only applies to items that are in-stock and ready to ship. If an item is backordered or out of stock, they can’t deliver it the next day – because they don’t have it.

Free Overnight Shipping on 1200+ items at Adorama

Adorama is currently offering FREE Overnight Shipping on Adorama. This is a limited time offer. I do not know when it expires, but the last cut-off date for all 1-day shipping offers 4pm Eastern on Wednesday 12/23/15 (for delivery of in-stock items before Christmas Day).

B&H FREE 1-Day Shipping extended to Wednesday at 7am ET

Through the use of technology and logistics, B&H Photo has been able to extend the deadline for their FREE 1-DAY Shipping promotion. The new deadline for that is Wednesday 12/23/15 at 7am Eastern time. As usual, my dear fellow procrastinators, please don’t wait until 6:59am ET to place an order though 🙂

PS: if you don’t want to deal with last minute gift deadline stressful situations, B&H now offers emailable gift cards. You can easily find them using the light cyan-blue bar at the bottom of their web page, or just search for “gift card” using their search box.

Last Day for Free 2-Day Shipping for Prime Members (for Christmas 2015 delivery)

If you are planning a Christmas 2015 purchase, Tuesday is the last day for Prime members to get their items delivered for FREE with Prime’s Free 2-Day shipping. A small number of items are eligible for free 1-day Prime delivery (they have to be available at a nearby warehouse). See the Amazon Holiday Shipping Deadlines for more details.

If you live in an area with Prime NOW, you can have items delivered on Christmas Eve even. Keep in mind however that Prime NOW has much smaller subset of items than Amazon’s main website. This is because regional warehouses don’t have everything, and also because PrimeNOW is near-instant delivery, you can only order items that currently available and ready to be delivered from a nearby Amazon facility. If you are not familiar with that, we have a long post of what to expect. If you never placed a Prime Now order before, coupon 10PRIMENOW gets you $10 off your first order.

If all else fails, there’s Gift Cards. Many of the physical Amazon gift cards (plastic or greeting card style) are eligible for free 1-day shipping and may come with a gift card box. The emailable gift cards arrive within minutes (or even faster) most of the time.

PS: the free 1-day shipping promotion for all apparently just expired…

Free 1-Day Shipping arrives at Amazon

As we are getting even closer to Christmas 2015 (yet another year flew by fast!), the free 1-day shipping promotion returned to Amazon’s website. As of the time of writing, over 150 Camera and Photo items are eligible, along with 50+ software titles, and a variety of other Electronics, Toys, Gifts, and household items.

TIP: you have to manually select 1-Day shipping in the shopping cart. All items must be shipped to the same address. If you are buying multiple eligible items but want some of them to ship to other addresses, just place two or more separate orders. If you are a Prime member, the usual $3.99 1-Day shipping fee will be automatically discounted at the Checkout page. This is good for the Continental US states including the Republic of Texas.

Some items may also be eligible for free returns (it will mention this in the product listing). Here’s an annotated screenshot crop example from the Sony a6000 page:

free_returns_at_amazon

As usual, only items sold and shipped by Amazon itself are eligible. Items “fulfilled by Amazon” are not eligible for free 1-Day shipping, but they are eligible for Prime/Super-Saver shipping benefits.

YMMV Bonus eBay Bucks (up to 8%)

Bonus eBay Bucks promotions are YMMV, because from what I can tell, they send them to different groups of eBay shoppers (members of their rewards program) at different times. So running right now, and good until 11:59pm pacific tonight (12/2/15), if you are invited by email or eBay message, and if you manually opt-in by clicking on the button over there, you can earn the following rewards:

+ 4% for individual items priced $50+
+ 6% for individual items priced $100+
+ 8% for individual items priced $150+
+ maximum reward is $100 per transaction, and $500 total during this promotional period
+ 1X eBay Bucks = 2% of the purchase price, so 4X = 8%

A couple of places to get started looking for deals are the eBay Daily Deals and the eBay Trending Deals.

Because of the way the program is structured (you only receive eBay Bucks if your earn $5 or more during a reward period), these eBay Bucks promotions are great in helping you reach the threshold. Combine these with the recurring 5% eBay Gift Card promotions and the savings add up little by little.
