Nikon Lens Instant Savings with FREE Filter Kit and Corel Imaging Software

The Nikon Lens Instant Savings promotion has also gone live at Adorama where many (but not all) of the participating lenses get a variety of free items, including filter kits and the Corel software bundle (that includes AfterShot Pro 2 and Paintshop Pro). The free items are included automatically by Adorama while this promotion is running. The promotion ends 4/2/16.

You can find all the eligible lenses nicely organized over at the Adorama page. The navigation bar at the top over there can take you to the lens category of interest (wide, standard, telephoto, TC, etc). Among the lenses that get the free accessories and software bundles are the 24-70/2.8G, 18-35/3.5-4.5G, 14-24/2.8G, 16-35 f4G VR II, 10-24 DX, 50/1.4G, 58/1.8G and many of the other Primes, 70-200/4G, etc.

New Nikon DSLR and Lens Combined and Instant Savings

It is March 6 in the East Coast and this means a new round of Nikon Instant Savings promotion as WPPI gets under way. The latest offers are organized at B&H Photo in this fashion: the DSLR + Lenses Combined Purchase Discounts (you buy a DSLR kit and Lenses together for a combined purchase discount) and the Lens Instant Savings (discounts on individual lenses, 24 options, one is a teleconverter). This round expires 4/2/16.

Imported No-Warranty Canon 18-135mm IS STM for $229

Back to the eBay Deals, for the more adventurous shoppers, there is a white-box imported grey-market lens without any warranty, it is offered by Get It Digital’s eBay store (99.6%). Ooops, the lens, the lens is the new condition Canon 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS STM going for $229 with free shipping with a limit of five per customer.

White box usually means it was part of a kit, but sold separately. If I put on my Miss Maple hat, this is probably how it came to be: they import Canon APS-C DSLRs with 18-135mm kits. Then they remove the lenses from the DSLR boxes, and sell the DSLRs as body-onlies on their own (“onlies” is plural of “only”), and the Lenses on their own.

So that’s why the price is so much lower, it’s an imported item without a warranty. Over 1300 units got sold so far, so there are a lot of people willing to take the risk, but again, don’t decide based on price alone. If the thought of potential future problems with lenses without warranty keeps you up at night, mayhaps it’s not worth the extra stress. We blog, you decide!

eBay Semi-Curated Canon Sale (133 items)

eBay is having another semi-curated sale (I don’t know how much they pick by hand and how much by computer, so I’m splitting the distance with the semi), this time they feature 133 items that comprised a Canon Sales Event. Due to time constraints I cannot go through the 133 items and price-check them, so this is a DIY adventure if interested. You can filter them a bit using the various options below the big banner picture over there.

Also bubbling among the featured eBay Deals is a more complicated offer from BuyDig’s eBay store. This one is a Canon-Pixma-MIR-AMEX offer, a mail-in rebate bundle with a $350 prepaid American Express Gift Card. This is a Canon D-Rebel T5i with 18-55 IS STM bundle that also includes the PIXMA PRO 100 printer and its accompanying 50pk of 13×19″ Canon photo paper (the razor/cartridges strategy). You pay $750, receive the order, make sure all is well, submit the mail-in rebates following instructions and deadlines, and a few weeks later you receive a $350 prepaid American Express Gift Card if all is well, making it a $400 after MIR promotion, and this a nominee for a runaway sentence 🙂

This round of offers expires 4/2/16. You can find the participating lenses nicely organized by focal range and categorized as prime/zoom at Adorama.

Summary of New Cameras and Lenses revealed today

This pre-order party is now over! You can find the newly announced cameras and lenses added to the New Cameras and Lenses of 2016 Tracking page and you can check today’s pre-ordering posts using the Pre-Orders category. As of the time of writing, some of the new items do not have a pre-order option or price, but they do have product pages which is a step in the right direction.

To summarize, Nikon launched a trio of 1-inch DL-series RAWsumers, and rebooted their Coolpix superzoom naming scheme with three new A/B cameras. Sigma revealed two new Foveon interchangeable lens cameras, but surprise, they are mirrorless and use the Sigma “Global Vision” SA mount lenses. One has an APS-H sensor, the other APS-C. Ricoh added a new waterproof camera, and Sony a new 4K camcorder with a 12x optical G lens.

On the lenses front, Tamron added two new stabilized full frame primes, a 85mm f1.8 and a 90mm f2.8 for Canon, Nikon and Sony DSLR mounts. Also coming is a Tamron console so photographers can update lens firmware on their own (for those Tamron lenses compatible with this). Sigma launched a new DN prime and a 50-100mm APS-C dSLR lens. For Sony E-mount cameras, Sigma has a new converter that allows them to mount either compatible Sigma Canon or Sigma Sigma SLR lenses. Sigma also launched a new EF-630 flash.

Also bubbling around among the eBay Deals is a big promotion from BuyDig’s eBay store. It activates in the shopping cart when you add any two items to your shopping cart.

The value of the least expensive item is discounted, so strategically this works best if the items you are buying have similar prices (or you are buying two of the same). You can see all eligible items at the BuyDig Certified Refurbished promotion. Make sure you also check pages #2 and #3 over there, or sort by price (High or Low), or use the Categories on the left hand side of the page over there to drill further down.

No Pre-Orders Yet for new Tamron TAP-In Console (C/N/A)

Tamron is boldly going with a new TAP-In Console that would allow photographers to upgrade the firmware of compatible Tamron lenses on their own using a computer and an internet connection and of course the TAP-in console. This will be available for Tamron Canon EF lenses, and Nikon F lenses, and Sony Minolta A lenses. This product is listed at B&H Photo but it is not available for pre-order as of the time of writing.

This critter is available for pre-order for $249 for either Sigma Canon EF Mount Lenses or Sigma SA Mount Lenses.

Refurbished Nikon D5500 with 18-55 VR II for $500

Among the Trending eBay Deals (these are eBay daily deals that according to their algorithms are “trending” – you can find handy links to both in the Sidebar of this blog under “DAILY DEALS LINKS”) we find a more recent Nikon APS-C DSLR.

BuyDig’s eBay store (authorized dealers) is offering the manufacturer refurbished Nikon D5500 with 18-55 VR II for $500 with free shipping and a 90 day Nikon USA warranty. Limit five per customer during this promotion.
