It looks like Sony may have potentially produced an interesting new compact travel-zoom [pending the usual reviews, samples, comparisons and such]. It is the new Cybershot HX99 with a 30x optical zoom (24-720mm eq) Vario-Sonnar T* lens, 4K video, 18mp Exmor R CMOS 1/2.3″ sensor, 10fps, Bionz X, and RAW [B&H has a detailed spec sheet under the “Specs” tab – see link below]! It is a small sensor but RAW is better than not having RAW for those who like to squeeze more out of their camera.
It is available for pre-ordering for $448 at Adorama and B&H Photo and Amazon itself with a early November 8 release estimate.

This is a great choice as it has a built-in light and both a touchscreen and physical page turn options on both sides of the bezel [the Paperwhite does not have the bezel physical page turn option]. I don’t even realize I’m switching pages with this, either way happens organically…
