YMMV: $50 Amazon Gift Card upon approval of Amazon Store Card (not to be confused with Chase VISA offer)
In addition to the Chase VISA promotion, Amazon is also running a promotion on its Store Credit Card (not affiliated with VISA/Mastercard/etc; can only be used for Amazon purchases). If you apply and get approved, you get a $50 Amazon Gift Card upon approval, and if you are an Amazon Prime member, you get 5% back on Amazon purchases. You can find this promotion at one of the Countdown to Prime Day pages, or the promotion will find you as you browser around the Amazon website. As usual, there is a YMMV component to these type of offers.
So strategically, if you go for both, you could end up with $100 in Amazon Gift Cards! Screenshot crop below on what to look for while you peruse their website:
YMMV: $50 Gift Card may be offered with Amazon Chase VISA application
This is a YMMV type of an offer since Amazon is often customizing and/or rotating these type of offers. But when testing the just-posted DJI post, I noticed a promotion that gets you a $50 Amazon Gift Card when you apply and get approved for the Amazon Chase VISA credit card. You have to have something in the shopping cart to see, it may need something expensive, I had the DJI Phantom 4 when it showed this offer. When I removed it, the offer did not show up. When I added it to the shopping cart again, it re-appeared. Again, YMMV…
DJI Phantom 4 Quadcopter for $1330
If you want the DJI Phantom 4 Quadcopter and you are not interested in any of the many accessory bundles, it is currently on sale for $1330 by Woot fulfilled by Amazon, so free shipping (no $5 flat shipping). This is not part of the lightning deals.

Wired Selfie Stick and FreedomPop GSM SIM and Free Trial to two Premium Services for $5 w/free S&H
This is an intermediate level promotion as it requires post-purchase actions. FreedomPop is a freemium service that offers free cellphone service and data over Sprint’s network and Wifi wherever it is available. But they are also expanding into GSM now using HSPA+ and 3G (but not 4G LTE) on AT&T and T-Mobile GSM networks. This is a GSM promotion. They are offering a free Wired Selfie Stick along with a 3-in-1 FreedomPop SIM (one modular card that fits the three most popular SIM sizes of most of today’s phones) and a free trial to two of their premium services for $5 with free shipping from the FreedomPop website.
Once your order ships (it is slow shipping), the 30-day free trial of the two premium services begins. If you don’t want to get charged anything, you have to make sure you downgrade the phone plan to the free tier (200 talk minutes, 500 texts, 200MB data per month) and cancel the other premium service before the 30 days are over. The clock ticks when the order ships, not when you receive it.
You can easily cancel/downgrade using the Freedompop website, but if you run into problems, contact their customer service or post in their forums to have it fixed. Get a new phone number, don’t port your own until you are certain Freedompop works well for you and you get reception at all the places you plan to use it (since it is not 4G LTE).
Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Film Camera for $53
Instant action now, some of the many colors of the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Film Camera (yellow, white, pink) are on sale for $53 with free shipping with a limit of five units per customer at Amazon by Amazon itself.
Triggered: Counting Converter Lenses as Real Lenses
In this new impromptu series called “Triggered” (a popular pop-culture term these days), we are posting things retailers do that are very annoying or sneaky or anti-consumer. In this inaugural installment, we are Triggered by online retailers counting converter lenses as actual real lenses in DSLR kits. It’s not a three lens kit when you have the 18-55 kit lens and two converter lenses. It’s ONE lens. Here’s one of the many examples among the eBay Deals.
Refurbished with 1-Year Warranty GoPro HERO4 Black Edition for $329
To the Trending eBay Deals we check upon, where the official GoPro eBay store is offering the sealed manufacturer refurbished with 1-year warranty GoPro HERO4 Black Edition for $329 with free shipping with a limit of five per customer.
This ended: While there, NewEgg’s eBay store is offering the new condition 120GB SanDisk SSD PLUS 2.5″ SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SDSSDA-120 for $36 with free shipping with a limit of five per customer.
Imported Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS II for $1650
The Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS II goes for $2100 at authorized dealers which are allowed to bundle it with various free accessories and/or promotional rewards (eg Adorama).
But if you are comfortable with imported grey-market items that come with a 1-year seller warranty (not Canon USA warranty), off to the eBay Deals we go where eBay seller “Electronics Valley” (99.6%, New Jersey) is offering the new condition imported grey-market with 1-year seller warranty Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS II lens for $1650 with free shipping with a limit of five per customer.
In-stock Now at standard prices: both Canon 1D X II kits for $6000, both Nikon D500 kits, and the Pentax K-1
After a week of letting it breathe, we just updated the Stock Status Tracker and we have good news, all the cameras tracked are in-stock at their regular prices at at-least one authorized dealer!
The Canon 1D X II body only kits are back in-stock finally, both going for $6000. The C-FAST kit (which includes a memory card and card reader on top of the standard DSLR kit) is in-stock at Adorama, while Amazon itself expects it to arrive July 8-ish. Meanwhile the standard 1D X II body only kit (no CFAST extras) is in-stock at Amazon itself.
The Nikon D500 body only continues to be in-stock for $2000, but it’s now trying to be usurped by the Nikon D500 with 16-80mm kit, dropping from the crazy price of $3067 to the more realistic price of $2567, at Amazon and Adorama and B&H Photo.
Meanwhile the K-Unicorn, the first full frame Pentax 35mm DSLR remains in-stock for $1800 at Amazon itself and Focus Camera and Adorama.
