One of the rules of thumb of camera gear is that if you are going to go for an older model, might as well try to get it in refurbished condition, so you can save even more. The weekend promotion at Discount Mags is a bit different this time, it’s a sitewide coupon. Coupon SITEWIDE40 gets you 40% off the current prices of magazines over there. They have the usual photo magazines that go on sale there, but they also offer “Photo District News” (PDN) that is never included in the typical sales. PDN drops to $40~ per year with the coupon. The promotion expires on Sunday at 11:59pm ET.
Another falling knife price type of a camera, HTC’s experimental Pez-Dispenser-style “RE” camera is now down to as low as $70 (depending on color) by 3rd-party sellers through Amazon.

As we are getting even closer to Christmas 2015 (yet another year flew by fast!), the free 1-day shipping promotion returned to Amazon’s website. As of the time of writing, over 150 Camera and Photo items are eligible, along with 50+ software titles, and a variety of other Electronics, Toys, Gifts, and household items.
TIP: you have to manually select 1-Day shipping in the shopping cart. All items must be shipped to the same address. The Sony a68 SLT was announced by Sony Europe a few weeks ago. Now it has also been officially announced by Sony USA. It will be here by April 2016. It will be available as either a Body Only or with the 18-55 lens ($700). The body only price has not been revealed yet… Pre-orders are not available as of the time of writing. Sony has been favoring two-phase announcements lately, Apple-style :)… This has been updated in the New Cameras of 2015 Reference page…

The “falling knife” price continues for Lytro’s big camera, the Illum 40 is now down to $380 with free shipping by Woot fulfilled by Amazon. As with most falling-knife price situations, it’s hard to predict a bottom, so I don’t know what to tell you if you are waiting to see how low this will go.
