PS: one of the potential benefits of buying from an authorized Nikon dealer is that you are eligible to participate in the combined purchase discounts – that’s if you also want to buy one or more lenses at the same time as the DSLR.

Free Photo Book for first time MyPublisher customers

First time customers at MyPublisher.com can receive a free photo book. You have to enter your email (nothing else) at the promotional prompt (top right corner of their page or the tape-delayed email pester-nudge window). You will receive an email with the promo code and the long terms and conditions are linked to through the email. I do not know if shipping is free.

NOTE: after you enter your email, their website automatically tries to start downloading their book creation software on your computers. On Windows, this is http://assets.mypublisher.com/software/win/MyPublishersetup-USD-en-US.exe. As a minimum they should be _clearly_ warning people ahead of time this is about to happen because many and more these days are spooked by surprise downloads of things. Or just not start automatic downloads. Grumpy mode ends 🙂

Save $1200 when Buy Pentax 645Z _and_ One Lens From Choice of 15 [two options are FREE after combo discount]

If you are interested in getting the Pentax 645Z medium format digital camera, Adorama has an “optical encouragement” for you. If you purchase the Pentax 645Z body only kit TOGETHER with ONE LENS from a list of 15 eligible 645 lenses, you will save $1200 on the total purchase amount. No coupon, no rebate, just add one of the lenses to the bundle and add the bundle to the shopping. You can only add ONE lens to this promotion – you cannot turn it into a money-maker fatwallet-style 🙂

There are two lenses in the lot that go for $1200 (or less), essentially making the lenses FREE (55/2.8, 200/4). The discount cannot be bigger than the price of the lens, so the $1100 lens is only a $1100 discount. The next lowest price lens of the lot is the 45mm f2.8 (645) which goes for $1300, so with the combined purchase discount, you are essentially getting it for $100.

A lot of recent camera models are rarely discounted, so one way to get some kind of a discount is through rewards. Case in point, Rakuten (Buy.com) is offering 7% back in Rakuten rewards on technology (and 15% back on everything else) when you use coupon code REWARDME when you make a purchase at Rakuten.com. Offer ends by the end of day on 8/20/15.

This is not a discount, but reward points added to your Rakuten account. Reward points are promotional points, they have to be spend within a specified amount of time, which makes this perhaps a better offer for frequent shoppers there.
