Sony has just announced four new E-mount lenses and four converter lenses, headlined by the 35mm f1.4 ZA Zeiss ($1600) and the 90mm f2.8 OSS G macro ($1100), along with the 24mm f2 prime ($450), and the 24-240mm f3.5-6.3 OSS ($1000), along with four converters for various primes lenses. Pre-order new Nikon D7200 for $1200

The Nikon D7000 was one of the milestone DSLRs in the APS-C segment. Fast forward to today, and Nikon has revealed the third generation model in this series, the D7200, with a body only starting price of $1200, and a with 18-140 starting price of $1500. Pre-orders are available for this at Amazon and Adorama and B&H Photo.

In parallel, they launched the $250 ME-W1 wireless microphone (Bluetooth).

Pre-order new Pentax K-S2, 18-50mm lens, AF201G flash, WG-5 P&S

Pentax launched a second wave of DSLR gear in 2015 [see Interesting Cameras & Lenses of 2015 reference page (no swimsuit edition I’m afraid), headlined by the new K-S2 dSLR, with a 20mp APS-C sensor shying away from the anti-aliasing status quo. The camera starts at $700 body only, goes $800 with the new 18-50mm f4-5.6 WR DC DA RE AX GI ZO ER kit lens, and $900 with the 18-50 and 55-200 lenses. Also coming along is a new weather-friendly AF-201G flash ($150), and a new WG-5 elementproof P&S camera under the Ricoh brand ($380).

The K-S2 is available for pre-order at Adorama and Amazon et al at the aforementioned prices.

The 18-50mm f4-5.6 lens (which is the new kit lens included with the K-S2 bundles above) goes for $300 on its own at Adorama and B&H Photo.

Pre-order new Olympus E-M5 II body ($1100), 14-150 ($600), etc

Pre-order time for Olympus. They have revealed a brand new E-M-series cameras, the new E-M5 II body only with a 16mp LiveMOS sensor, 10fps, 3″ tilting LCD, dust/splash-proofness, and more. The starting price is $1100 and it is available for pre-order, in black or silver color-schemes, at Adorama and B&H Photo and Amazon itself.

The E-M5 II also gets its very own underwater housing, model PT-EP13, with a pre-order price of $1000, and the HLD-8 Power Battery Holder with a pre-order price of $280.

Also new is the M.Zuiko ED 14-150mm f4-5.6 II Lens, dust and splashproof, with a pre-order price of $600 at B&H Photo and Adorama.

Also coming along for the ride is another waterproof P&S digital camera, the new Tough TG-860 with a pre-order price of $280. Action cameras and waterproof cameras are apparently surviving the onslaught of smartphones.

Note: the “DC” in the model names is for the Direct Current (DC) autofocus motor, not to be confused with the Sigma-speak “DC” for APS-C lenses.

Pre-order New from Canon at CES: SX530 (50x optical), SX710,SX610, Elphs, Vixens, Connect Stations

Canon has announced and made available for pre-order a number of photography related products at CES 2015. They have three new superzooms, headlined by the SX-530-HS with 50x optical for $430, SX-710-HS with 30x optical for $350, the SX-610-HS with 18x optical for $250. They also have the Elph 170 IS for $150 and Elph 160 for $110. Also in are new Vixia camcorders, a couple of printers, and the Connect Station CS100 (NFC, Wifi, USB, SD, CF). All these are now available for pre-ordering at Adorama and Amazon.

The release estimate is December 1st in 2014.
