More eBay Deals action, if you are comfortable with imported (non-USA warranty) double-figure lenses, the new condition Canon 50mm f1.8 II is offered for $85 with free shipping by Red Tag Camera on eBay (99.9%) with a limit of five per buyer. Over 1000 of these primes got sold through this listing. The simplicity of a prime lens and the low price perhaps may make this a low/lower risk import/grey-market purchase.
Speaking of eBay, Adorama’s eBay store is offering the new condition 22-inch Dell E2215HV computer monitor for $100 with free shipping with a limit of five per buyer.
The latest action in the eBay Deals includes the new condition but very likely not-USA-warranty Canon 50mm f1.8 II lens offered for $93 with free shipping, with a limit of five per customer, by eBay seller RedTagCamera (99.9%). There is no mention of warranty in the listing and the seller is not an authorized Canon dealer (as far as I can tell), so assume this is imported or something similar.
Since this is a low priced simple prime lens, for some people, this may be a reasonable risk… At authorized Canon dealers, this goes for $105 after a $20 mail-in rebate (eg Adorama, B&H Photo).
Included in the camera sub-section of the eBay Deals is the new condition Canon 50mm f1.8 II lens offered for $98 with free shipping by eBay seller RedTag Camera (99.9%). There is no mention of a warranty on the product page and they are not an authorized Canon dealer, so this is likely an imported / grey-market model. As such, it is not eligible for the Canon mail-in rebates. This is a simple prime lens in double figures, so, for some, this may not be an unreasonable risk to take. The blessed by Canon USA model goes for $105 after a $20 mail-in rebate at authorized dealers (eg B&H Photo, Adorama). Not sure how many people would want to go through the hassle of a mail-in rebate for $20, unless they are buying other Canon DSLRs and lenses that are also part of the mail-in rebate promotion. So if you are interested in this lens, the trade-off: imported vs mail-in rebate. We blog, you decide!

Another trip to the latest eBay Deals find a high-risk high-reward option. The imported Canon 1D X body only is offered for $4700 with free shipping by eBay seller GetItDigital (99.4%), wiht a limit of five per shopping cart. This camera is imported (grey market), so you don’t get warranty from the manufacturer. The seller, Get It Digital, offers their own equivalent one year warranty. High risk because this is an expensive professional DSLR, high reward because it is around $1300-$2100 less than the blessed by Canon USA model which goes for $6800 ($6000 after mail-in rebate) at Amazon and B&H Photo and Adorama and BuyDig. Over 130 imported 1D Xs got sold so far through this listing. Again, please note this is an imported model without a Canon USA warranty.

We finally updated the Fuji X100T stock status page and there is an interesting development, the camera is on sale for $1160 with free shipping by DigitalRev. The camera does not come with a Fuji USA warranty but DigitalRev offers what they call a Local Warranty where they either pay for the repairs or you send the camera to their global repair service center. The normal X100T price is $1300. There is a countdown on the sale at DigitalRev, if my time math is correct, it should expire by 12/1/14 at 11:59pm eastern.
If you are comfortable buying imported (grey market = no manufacturer USA warranty) digital cameras, the Fuji X100S can be yours for $685 with free shipping at Abe’s of Maine using coupon code LOYALTY15 ($15 off). Again, this is an imported model, you don’t get a Fuji USA warranty. If you are not sure what this means, do not buy.
More eBay action, the new condition Olympus SZ-15 compact-zoom is offered for $80 with free shipping, in black or silver, with a limit of five per customer by ebay seller DB Roth (98.9%) with over 1600 cameras sold through this listing. There is no mention of USA warranty, so assume it is an import model… It goes for $100 by Ritz and Adorama.
If you are comfortable with imported (gray market aka grey market) cameras, Abe’s of Maine is offering the new condition imported Canon G1 X for $445 with free shipping. The Loyalty coupons does not work on this one. The USA model goes for $550 but B&H Photo has a bundle with the WP-DC44 Waterproof Case for the same $550 price. So if you are interested in underwater shooting or don’t mind trading/selling/gifting/bartering the underwater housing, then that’s probably a better net price.
Also one of the featured eBay Deals is the new condition imported/grey-marked Nikon D610 body offered for $1200 with free shipping, with a limit of five per buyer. The seller is bigvalueinc (99.4%). Over 120 cameras got sold through this eBay listing so far.
NOTE: this does not come with a manufacturer warranty. It comes with a one year warranty from the seller. This was part of the D610 with lens kit, but the lens removed. Selling the lens and body separately is more profitable since the bundle has a built-in discount. Some sellers use the term “broken kit” to describe this but it’s an unfortunate term because when a shopper reads “broken”, they run away scared 🙂
The standard Nikon D610 body only kit from authorized Nikon USA dealers goes for $1600 (eg Amazon, B&H Photo), so you have trade-offs, such as $400 vs manufacturer-warranty, authorized Nikon dealers vs eBay sellers and such. It’s up to you to triangulate your risk matrix on deals like this – there’s no one size fits all answer.
If you are comfortable buying prime lenses that don’t come with a manufacturer warranties, one of the featured eBay Deals is the new condition Nikon 35mm f1.8G DX lens offered for $155 with free shipping, with a limit of five per buyer. The seller is photovideo4less (99.8% [corrected; not 98.8%]). Nearly 500 lenses got sold through this eBay listing so far. Again, keep in mind this does not come with a manufacturer warranty. For some the risk may be acceptable, a low price simple prime lens is a much smaller risk than a $4000 tilt-shift lens 🙂 For others, it may not. We blog, you decide!
