Altura Photo Lens Cleaning kit for $8 w/free shipping

Things big and small are trending at the eBay Trending Deals and it’s on the small that we focus this post. eBay seller “Digital Goja” (99.9%) is offering a Lens Cleaning Kit for $8 with free shipping (from USA/Miami).

This includes various accessories assembled together Avengers-style: an air blower, a lens cleaning pen, a cleaning brush, a plastic spray bottle (empty), a 50pk of cleaning tissues, and three MagicFiber cleaning clothes. I count eight items, the eBay listing says “9 in 1”. I don’t know if they count the outer package as one item 🙂 Over 3600 units of this got sold so far.

PS: eBay changed the Trending Deals page. In addition to changing the actual url, they also changed the design, so now it’s a “tablety” designe, taking away the middle-button mouse-click, so clicking on the picture of an item opens it in-place. If you want to open in a new window/tab, you have to click on the name of an item below the tablety-sized picture.

In comparison, at authorized Nikon dealers, the D810 body only goes for $2800 with a boatload of accessories at B&H Photo and Adorama and Amazon (no free accessories at the moment).

The action continues at the eBay Deals with more storage for your RAW-mega-pixels. With 1TB HDDs having a market price $50 or less “buy it now” price, the 2TB models seem to be settling at a $70 or less market price. PS: there’s also some grey-market/imported dSLRs from some of the B-list eBay Deals sellers. I’m trying to triangulate what to do with those type of deals. People are buying them per the eBay product listing statistics, but how many of the people who buy them are aware of the warranty trade-offs and risks?

YMMV: 4x eBay Bucks on $100+ individual items

eBay rotates these type of offers, so they typically only cover a percentage of the participants in the eBay Rewards program (aka eBay Bucks). This new promotion, which started at 11am ET today and ends at 3am ET on Wednesday 10/14/15, requires, as usual, manual opt-in – you click the “Activate Now” in the offer email or message.

This offer gets you 4X eBay Bucks (= 8% of the purchase price) on individual items priced at $100 or more. You can use it as many times as you like during this promotion but the maximum rewards are $100 Rewards per single item, and $500 maximum Rewards total per customer.

The usual restrictions apply: “Qualifying purchase excludes all items in the following categories: Classifieds, Business & Industrial, Real Estate, eBay Gift Cards (within the Gift Cards & Coupons category), Bullion (within the Coins & Paper category), and eBay Motors”

eBay Rewards become available to you only if you have a balance of $5 or more, so if you are an occasional shopper or only buy low priced items, you may never see a penny out of them. Which is perhaps why they do these 4X promotions on more expensive items, since a single $100 item will get you $8 in rewards.
