Olympus E620 two-lens kit drops to $750

It looks like a $50 discount is propagating among various retailers for the two-lens kit of the Olympus E620. This kit went as low as $720 at Amazon a few weeks ago, but since then, it returned to $800. But now a number of retailers, almost in-lockstep, have dropped to $750. Here they are:

+ B&H Photo
+ 3rd party sellers at Amazon
+ Adorama

The body-only and single-lens kits for the E620 remain at $600 and $700. But in terms of bang-for-the-buck, the Olympus E520 goes for $395, $452, and $532 for the three standard kits. And with the two lens kit, you also get a free $200 Philips 9.4-inch digital picture frame.

A trio of 3rd-party sellers at Amazon are offering the Olympus FL-14 flash for around $100. These are Cameta Camera, Electronics Expo and Willoughby's. Price and availability is as always as of the time of writing and it is not updated magically.

This came out of our just-refreshed Olympus E-P1 stock-status matrix. The camera kits themselves remain steady at the $800 and $900 price-points. Olympus has yet to discount them!

For more on the E-P1, be sure to check its list of reviews, and also its mini-blog.

Two-lens kit deals at $530: Pentax K2000 vs Olympus E520

Sure, there's always going to be a newer camera, always selling at list price at first, and then another one and another one and another one. But if you need a camera now, be it your first DSLR or an additional body, or perhaps are interesting in experiment with the K-mount or Four Thirds, there are a two-lens kit offered for each mount for $530 right now!

First up, the storied K-mount offers an affordable entry-point for the bang-for-the-buck photographers with the Pentax K2000 two-lens kit going for $530 with free shipping, sold and shipped by Amazon.com itself! That's right Amazon has it back in-stock! The lenses are both DA-L.

Next up, Four Thirds time, with the Olympus E520 two-lens kit. Not only do you get two lenses, but you also get a bonus 9.4-inch Philips digital picture frame for free. The price is $532 with free shipping, sold and shipped by Amazon.com. In order to get the free Philips picture frame, the camera must also be coming from Amazon.com, not any of the many third-party sellers that do business at the Amazon website.

Each one of the aforementioned camera has a replacement that (as usual) costs more and offers more. On the Pentax side, the Pentax K-x is generating some early excitement, but it costs $750 in a two-lens kit and $650 with the standard 18-55 lens.

Similarly, on the Olympus side, there is the E620 DSLR, which goes for $800 for a two-lens kit and $700 for the standard one-lens kit. And you don't get the free digital picture frame which goes for $200 on its own.

You can research each one of the aforementioned DSLRs at the DSLR Review Organizer.

Olympus E3 body-only delivered for $1078 (or $1200 with free 9.4" digiframe)

Third-party seller "6ave" is offering the Olympus E3 body-only on Amazon for $1078 with free shipping and handling. This is a drop of more than price-stop from its established price of $1200. If you prefer to buy it directly from Amazon, their price is $1200, however they offer a free 9.4-inch Philips digital frame which goes for around $200 on its own.

It is important to stress that the free digital picture frame is only if you buy the camera directly from Amazon itself, sold and shipped by Amazon. You do not get the free digital picture frame if you buy via "6ave" or any other 3rd-party sellers.

The E-3 is the current flagship of the Olympus Four Thirds line-up, although there is a segment of the Four Thirds population that does not agree with this and thinks that the E1 continues to be the flagship because of certain things that were dropped from the E1 to the E3. For more on the E3, be sure to check its list of reviews.
