Costco members can now score the Panasonic ZS50 travel-zoom for $250 with free shipping at the Costco website and may be at their stores (that’s what the page there says). This is thanks to a brand new $50 off manufacturer discount that went live today and will continue until Christmas Eve… If you are not a Costco member, you can purchase it but you have to pay a 5% surcharge (around $12.50 more).

I am now continuing with the price-checking of the glossy-ad Black Friday Ads, and one more “glossy ad” has been “defeated” by the internets. The Nikon Coolpix B500 superzoom (40x optical, four AA) is advertised for $260 in the BF ads, but Adorama is not only offering it for just under $260, it is also bundled with lots of free accessories: Corel software bundle, Bag, SD, AA charger/batteries, etc. The same price but without those freebies is available at B&H Photo and Amazon itself

Amazon Teases Two Camera and Photo Black Friday items: Fuji Instax and N-Geo Rarely Seen Photography Book

It’s only a matter of time before we start getting movie trailers from Black Friday retailers, but at the moment, Amazon is happy to tease us with press releases. They list items that will be offered at any point in time between now and December 22 in 2016. I have no clue when the items mentioned will be offered. Of camera and photo interest, they tease two products:

+ Fujifilm Instax Mini 26 film camera with Film Bundle for $49.99

+ 52% off on the “National Geographic Rarely Seen: Photographs of the Extraordinary” by National Geographic and Stephen Alvarez (website)
+ the list price of the hardcover book is $40, so assuming it is 52% off that, the sale price will be $19.20. The current price of the book (as of the time of writing of this post) is $27.19
+ published October 2015, 400 pages, 9.6 x 1.2 x 11.3 inches

I will be keeping an eye out for these, but I have no clue when they will be offered…

The Serious Fixed Lens price-checking is not yielding surprise deals like the Mirrorless Price Check did last night (the best three sold out), but the black Panasonic LX100 is currently selling for $700 at Willoughby’s on Amazon [updated 11/4/16 AM; Amazon’s own price went up; Willoughby’s carries the discount], $800 at B&H and Adorama, but a further price check shows the new condition black LX100 going for $629 with free shipping at Overstock.com. Limit two per customer. You can get it for even less if you are willing to buy imported/grey-market models.

ORIGINAL POST: We just updated the Stock Status Tracker and we have some interesting news for fans of the Sony RX100 V, a discount! It looks like it may be a computer-generated price-match, so it may (or may not) last long. Amazon itself offers it for $956 while 3rd-party seller Cardinal Photo has it for $948 with free shipping (but not Prime eligible).

Sony switched to an Apple style two-step announcement, with the pre-orders coming in Step #2 of the whole song and dance. Which brings us to step #2, the new Sony RX100 Mark V Compact-with-RAW (1″ sensor, 24-70mm eq f1.8-2.8 Zeiss-blessed lens) is now available for pre-order for $1000 at B&H Photo and Adorama and Amazon by Amazon itself. The release estimate is somewhere between October 14-28 in 2016.

As of a 10/4/16 recheck, the price returned to $700… We just updated the Stock Tracking page and we have an interesting development for the Canon G7 X II, it is down $100, going for $599 with free shipping at Amazon by Amazon itself. The starting price of this is $700. The shipping estimate however is a very non-specific “1-2 months” so if you need it by a specific date/event, keep that in mind. The limit is the same 30 per customer, so I don’t know if this is a sale or their price-computers accidentally price-matched one of the 3rd-party sellers.
