(ENDED) Tue: Move Your Domain for $4 and They Donate to EFF

This promotion / Net Neutrality fundraiser ended with over $19,000 donated to EFF!

Tuesday 3/6/18 is “Move Your Domain Day” at NameCheap, a domain-name registrar and web-hosting company. We use them for some of our domains.

Coupon code MYDD2018 entered at NameCheap gets you a domain transfer for $3.98 and this includes one year of registration, along with one year of FREE WhoISGuard (domain registration is private, they put their contact info in the WHOIS database), and one year of FREE PositiveSSL and Private Email. You can transfer up to 25 domains with this coupon at the $3.98 per domain price. Eligible domains are .com, .net, .org, .info, .us, .biz, .me, .co, and .io

After the first year (12 consecutive months), if you wish to renew the WhoIsGuard, PositiveSSL and PrivateEmail, they are no longer free. Only the first year of these services is free. There is usually a 99c WhoIS renewal coupon you can find (unlike GoDaddy’s $6+ per domain). NameCheap’s domain renewal prices are much better than GoDaddy as well. I think it’s around $12/year for .com these days.

For Tuesday, every domain transfer will trigger an automatic donation to EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) of up to $1.50 per domain. This is part of NameCheap’s efforts to support Net Neutrality since EFF is one of the leading proponents of Net Neutrality.

Net Neutrality, not Net Neutered 🙂
