Kudos to this eBay seller for clearly filling in the warranty details in the eBay “Item Specifics” where it specifies that it does not come with a manufacturer warranty and that it is an import item with a 1-year seller warranty. Also kudos for having a big banner further down the product description saying this is an “IMPORT MODEL”. Annotated screenshot crop below:

I don’t mean to sound like a broken record, but when buying imported items, don’t just buy them because it’s a much lower price. Make sure you are comfortable with the risks and trade-offs of such purchases. Ultimately you are the one who is going to have to sleep and live with the decision and as such, you are the ultimate decider of what’s an acceptable risk to take. (all apologies if this may sound a little Nanny-State-ish but some people may not be familiar with the whole imported vs authorized kerfuffle. In situations like this it is mayhaps better to err on the side of caution).

Refurbished Nikon D3300 w/18-55 & 55-200 (both VR) w/90-day Nikon USA warranty for $350

Bubbling around in the eBay Top 100 trending deals is yet another manufacturer refurbished Nikon DSLR promotion with a 90 day Nikon USA warranty. It is the manufacturer refurbished Nikon D3300 with the 18-55 and 55-200 DX VR II lenses (both lenses are VR) going for $350 with free shipping, with a limit of two per customer by Beach Camera on eBay. This is available in either black or red D3300. Over 760 units got sold so far from this eBay listing per the numbers shown there.

There are many and more Nikon DSLR kits floating out there, it’s a buyers market, with the silver lining being option overload. But I’m pretty sure the people who paid $2000 for an APS-C DSLR thirteen years ago would be willing to trade choice overload for 1/7th the price πŸ™‚

I have no way of knowing what percentage of eBay Bucks users are participating in each one of these promotions. I can only see the ones sent to my eBay account, but eBay seems to be sending them to different groups of shoppers at different times. Or something like that. The computers are taking over πŸ™‚

White box typically is when they take a lens out of a DSLR kit. Typically Lens + DSLR kits sell for less than buying them separately, and imported gear sell for less than authorized dealer gear. So there’s a double discount on this, the imported discount and the disassembling the kit discount.
