Pentax 645Z Medium Format Body with $200 Rewards for $4997

We have not one but two medium format deals this week 🙂 Also part of the B&H WPPI festivities, you can get the new condition Pentax 645Z medium format DSLR body only offered for $4997 with free expedited shipping and 4% promotional rewards, which, in this case, is a pretty solid amount, 4% of $5000 = $200 to spend in the future at B&H Photo!

But that’s not all. On the same listing, B&H has three “take pictures with” kits. With the 55mm f2.8 you pay $6000, or with the 75mm f2.8 you pay $5694, or with the 28-45mm f4.5 you pay $9246. No 4% promotional rewards with the “with lens” kits.

Pentax 645Z MF DSLR Body Only for $5497

A rare medium format DSLR discount! The Pentax 645Z body only medium format DSLR camera is now down to $5497 at authorized dealers including B&H Photo and Adorama and various thru Amazon.

B&H and Adorama offer 4% promotional rewards, which is about $220 to be used in future purchases at B&H or Adorama. Amazon does not have promotional rewards, but if you are a Prime member and pay with either one of the official Amazon credit cards, you get 5% back as a statement credit.

Pentax 645D Body Only for $4000 [or $3150 on eBay or $2650 Used]

A comment by S.W. Anderson in the Hasselblad MF Mirrorless post got me price-checking medium format cameras, and it looks like the first generation Pentax 645D body only is currently going for $4000 in new condition at Amazon by Amazon actual. This is no longer available from B&H and Adorama. Amazon’s shipping estimate is 1-4 months, so keep that in mind if you need it to arrive quickly.

Or if you are a more adventurous shopper, there are a couple of eBay listings on it:
+ New Condition for $3150 with Best Offer Enabled (this is a private eBay listing for extra protection; ships from Los Angeles)

+ Used Condition for $2650 [CORRECTED!] (ships from Delaware; listing says used in-studio only with 3269 actuations)

+ the eBay listings above are from individuals, not retailers

In comparison, the latest model, the Pentax 645Z, goes for $7000 in new condition at B&H Photo (with 4% rewards = $280~) and Adorama (with 4% rewards = $280~). There’s also a 645Z Comprehensive Starter Kit that goes for $16,000 and includes three lenses (55/2.8, 90/2.8, 28-45/4.5, extra accessories and the protective case you see in the pictures.

Save $1200 when Buy Pentax 645Z _and_ One Lens From Choice of 15 [two options are FREE after combo discount]

If you are interested in getting the Pentax 645Z medium format digital camera, Adorama has an “optical encouragement” for you. If you purchase the Pentax 645Z body only kit TOGETHER with ONE LENS from a list of 15 eligible 645 lenses, you will save $1200 on the total purchase amount. No coupon, no rebate, just add one of the lenses to the bundle and add the bundle to the shopping. You can only add ONE lens to this promotion – you cannot turn it into a money-maker fatwallet-style 🙂

There are two lenses in the lot that go for $1200 (or less), essentially making the lenses FREE (55/2.8, 200/4). The discount cannot be bigger than the price of the lens, so the $1100 lens is only a $1100 discount. The next lowest price lens of the lot is the 45mm f2.8 (645) which goes for $1300, so with the combined purchase discount, you are essentially getting it for $100.
