PS: retroactive correction: I often get the Tamron and Tokina names confused 🙂 Did they have to both start with a T and be six letters long and share many common letters? If they were both in love with “T”, why couldn’t they name them Tammy and Trozzziaiaoaonizozzazziza? 🙂

No Pre-orders Yet: Tamron 85mm f1.8 Di VC USD (C/N/A) [Stabilized!]

If you are a fan of stabilized full frame primes, Tamron wants you! They have revealed the brand new Tamron 85mm f1.8 Di VC USD (VC = optical image stabilization), available in the Canon, Nikon and Sony-Minolta-Dyxum SLR mounts. It is not yet available for pre-orders and it does not have a price yet, but it is listed at the B&H Photo website so that’s a step in the right direction. The Tamron press release says “Pricing and delivery will be announced shortly”, but “shortly” is not defined.

No Pre-Orders Yet for new Tamron TAP-In Console (C/N/A)

Tamron is boldly going with a new TAP-In Console that would allow photographers to upgrade the firmware of compatible Tamron lenses on their own using a computer and an internet connection and of course the TAP-in console. This will be available for Tamron Canon EF lenses, and Nikon F lenses, and Sony Minolta A lenses. This product is listed at B&H Photo but it is not available for pre-order as of the time of writing.

10% promotional rewards on select Tamron Lenses [stackable with mail-in rebates] (C/N/A)

B&H Photo is offering 10% promotional rewards on select Tamron lenses (24-70, 70-200, 16-300, 150-600) in the Canon and Nikon SLR mounts, along with the 150-600 in the Sony Alpha-Minolta. These are the first nine lenses shown in the B&H Photo Tamron specials page. The rest of the lenses in the grid-list have 4% or no promotional rewards.

The promotional rewards are in addition and stackable with the Tamron mail-in rebates. The promotional rewards are from B&H Photo. The mail-in rebates are from Tamron.

Tamron 35/1.8 Di VC USD + $60 rewards for $600 [C/N]

B&H Photo is offering 10% promotional rewards on a handful of lenses from various manufacturers. You can find them below or by perusing the Rewards or Lens Deals archives here.

We start as with all photography, with a prime lens. The Tamron SP 35mm f1.8 Di VC USD with 10% promotional rewards ($60~) is available for $600 in the Canon and Nikon SLR mounts at B&H Photo. This lens does not have a mail-in rebate. The promotional rewards can be used on future B&H Photo purchases.

NOTE: the Sony Alpha version (not stabilized/VC) is NOT available for purchase yet, so it is not participating in the promotion, since you can’t buy it, and the promotion is 10% of the purchase price. There is no release estimate for it as of the time of writing. [the other participating Tamron lenses are available in the Sony-Alpha mount however, unlike the Canon/Nikon versions, the Sony-Alpha-Minolta are not VC/stabilized].

Tamron 16-300mm f3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD macro + $63 Rewards for $500 after $130 mail-in rebate [C/N/A]

We continue to Tamronize (yes, it’s a verb!), this time we have something for unapologetic superzoom fans, the Tamron 16-300mm f3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO is $500 after a $130 mail-in rebate and comes with 10% promotional rewards (=$63~) at B&H Photo and available in the Canon SLR mount and Nikon SLR mount and Sony Alpha Minolta SLR mount (not stabilized/VC).

Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 Di VC USD + $130 Rewards for $1200 after $100 MIR [C/N/A]

In addition to the 70-200mm f2.8, the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 Di VC USD is also participating in the 10% promotional rewards at B&H Photo. It is $1200 after a $100 mail-in rebate and you also get 10% promotional rewards ($130~). It is available in the Canon SLR mount and Nikon SLR mount and Sony-Minolta SLR mount (not VC).

Note that the 10% promotional rewards offers are limited time offers, but I don’t know the exact expiration date. The mail-in rebates have their own expiration date (2/29/16).

Tamron SP 70-200mm f2.8 Di VC USD Zoom Lens + $150 Rewards for $1400 after $100 MIR (C/N/A)

The Tamron SP 70-200mm f2.8 Di VC USD Zoom Lens is also participating in the B&H Photo 10% Rewards promotion. You pay $1500 with free shipping, which goes down to $1400 after a $100 mail-in rebate (MIR). You also get 10% promotional rewards (=$150~) to be used on a future purchase (I am assuming the reward is on the purchase price but I could be wrong)… This offer is available in the Canon SLR mount and the Nikon SLR mount.

UPDATE: this offer is also available for the Sony Alpha SLR mount but the Alpha version is not a stabilized (VC) lens.

Tamron 150-600mm f5-6.3 Di VC USD + $107 Rewards for $950 after $120 MIR (C/N/A)

We have a bit of a Sigma vs Tamron 150-600mm Reward duel, because B&H Photo is also offering 10% rewards ($107~) on the Tamron SP 150-600mm f5-6.3 Di VC USD. The lens goes for $1069 with free shipping, but thanks to a $120 mail-in rebate, you can get it for $950 after $120 MIR. As far as I can tell, the 10% reward is on the purchase price ($1069) not the after-rebate-price ($950), but I could be wrong.

This offer is available in the Canon SLR mount and the Nikon SLR mount and Sony Alpha Minolta SLR mount (not stabilized/VC).

Tamron 24-70/2.8 Di VC USD with 10% rewards for $1100 after $200 MIR (C/N/A)

It’s not just Sigma! Tamron has f2.8 Pro Zooms too! This offer has both Promotional Rewards and a mail-in rebate. You can get the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 Di VC USD SP for $1100 after a $200 mail-in rebate, but you also get 10% Promotional Rewards (~$130 or $110~ if the MIR price is not included in the promotional rewards) at B&H Photo in the Canon, Nikon and Sony-Alpha-Dyxum-Maxxum-Dzixum-Mfoxum SLR mounts. Offer ends 12/31/15 (but the free Next Day cutoff is Wedn 4pm ET).

10% Promotional Rewards on select Zeiss, Tamron, Rokinon, Sigma Lenses

Adorama has a limited time promotion, good until 12/31/15, you receive 10% promotional rewards on a handful of Lenses from Zeiss, Tamron, Rokinon, and Sigma lenses. The lenses are shown in this brand-name order. This includes pre-orders for the new Tamron 35mm and 45mm f1.8 Di VC lenses, along with Rokinon Cine T1.5 primes, some big Sigma lenses (500/4.5, 300/2.8, 150-600, etc). Zeiss has the most eligible lenses, including CP.2s, Ikons, Distagons, and more. The highest priced lens is $23,900 which gets you $2,390 in promotional rewards (!).

Tamron 16-300mm Di VC PZD and 10% Rewards for $500 after $130 MIR (C/N/A)

Late start today, so we have a 15 yard penalty, repeat first down, and for the first down play, we have a special rebate and reward play, from the special playbook. I’m not even sure if the previous sentence makes sense, so let’s pretend I didn’t write it and move on…

The Tamron 16-300mm f3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD is at a confluence of deals. It has two Tamron mail-in rebates totaling $130 back via MIR, along with 10% promotional rewards. As far as I can tell, the rewards are on the purchase price, not the after rebate price. So you can get this lens for $500 after $130 MIR plus $63 promotional rewards (or $50 in the worst case scenario) at B&H Photo in the Canon and Nikon and Sony SLR mounts. The Sony is not stabilized (no VC). Offer ends 12/24/15.
