Tamron 28-80 f3.5-5.6 (Alpha mount) ships for $69

Don't expect miracles and wonders from this lens, but you can't argue with the price! For $60 plus $9 shipping, you can get the Tamron 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 lens from 47th Street Photo on Amazon. This is the Alpha-Minoolta-Sony flavor of the lens.

It is a 35mm full frame lens so you can use it on all your Alpha-mount (D)SLRs.

Tamron 28-80 and 75-300 (full frame) for $190 (Canon mount)

A duet of old-school Tamron 35mm full frame lenses for the Canon EOS mount can be yours for $180 plus $10 shipping and handling. These are offered by 47th Street Photo on Amazon.

The lenses, which are NOT digitally optimized, are the Tamron 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 Aspherical and 75-300mm f4-5.6 LD.

The digitally optimized Tamrons bear the name "Di", while the lenses designed for APS-C DSLRs (with cropped DX/EF-S sensors) are named "Di II" or "Di-II".

And for further disambiguation, Nikon and Tokina calls the latter type of lenses "DX", Sigma calls them "DC", Pentax calls them "DA" and Canon calls them "EF-S". They had to make it confusing, didn't they? :)

Pre-order the new Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 VC (stabilized) for $650

If you are a fan of Tamron lenses, you can now get in-line to receive their brand new Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 VC Di-II lens, in your choice of Canon and Nikon mounts. The Nikon mount includes the built-in focus motor. The pre-order price is roughly $150 over the current version of the lens which is not stabilized.

We do not know if (or when) this lens will be available in other mounts. Especially considering that the remaining mounts mostly have sensor-shift stabilization DSLRs (Alpha, K-mount, Four Thirds).

You can learn more about the lens in this announcement roundup.
