Check the individual listings for the Nikon version as it is complicated (Amazon’s own is Prime only, but Precision has it for $264 but not Prime eligible).

Speaking of Amazon, they are offering the Star Trek 50th Anniversary TV and Movie Collection [Blu-ray] for $80 with free shipping. Limit one set per customer during the sale.

In-Stock Now: Sigma 135mm f1.8 DG HSM ART for $1399 [C/N]

Prime your wallets and your Canon and Nikon DSLRs because the new Sigma 135mm f1.8 DG HSM ART lens is now in-stock for $1399 with free expedited shipping at B&H Photo in the Canon and Nikon SLR systems. The Sigma SA version is estimated to get in-stock next week.

Imported Nikon D7200 w/18-140 DX VR w/1yr seller warranty for $900

The Nikon D7200 is no longer the “latest model” in the D7X0 line, the D7500 was announced a few days and it is currently available for pre-order for $1250 as body only – check Stock Status Tracker.

In new condition, it currently goes for $1000 as body only or $1300 with the 18-104mm lens at various authorized dealers, such as Adorama or Amazon or B&H Photo.

However, one school of thought is that once a “newer model” is revealed, it may be a good idea to buy the previous models as refurbished or used or grey-market, to save money on the purchase of a non-latest-model, since you are not riding the Early Adopter Wave.

If you like this approach, one path is refurbished, the D7200 body only is available manufacturer-refurbished with a 90-day Nikon USA warranty at Adorama or $789 with a 90-da7 B&H warranty at B&H Photo.

Another path that will get you more bang for the buck (if you need/want the 18-140mm DX VR lens) is at the eBay Deals du jour where eBay seller 6ave (99.1%, New Jersey) is offering the imported grey-market D7200 with the 18-140mm DX VR lens and a 1-year seller warranty (from 6ave, not Nikon USA) for $900 with free shipping. Limit five per customer.

For the speed-readers, the “1555” in the eBay listing title maybe easily misread as 1855 as in the 18-55 lens. This 1515 is the MPN of this kit, it comes with the 18-140mm lens 🙂 But for whatever reason, the eBay bots or humans picked a YouTube video for the D700 in the middle of the eBay listing instead of the D7200 🙂

PS: I am not sure how a one-paragraph post turned into this 🙂

Canon 35mm f2.8 IS STM EF-S Gets A Price – And Available For Pre-Order Now!

The new Canon 35mm f2.8 IS STM EF-S (yes, the one with the built-in macro lite/light) now has a price! You can now pre-order it for $350 at Amazon by Amazon itself and B&H Photo and Adorama. The release estimate at the moment is June 10 (2017), which is not that far off, when you consider that Game Of Thrones Season 7 will arrive a month AFTER this lens is released 🙂

The built-in light also raises an interesting question, could we be heading into a “smartphonization” of lenses? It would certainly help manufacturers with more sales as lenses would have to be upgraded much faster than previous decades 🙂

Buy 2+ Different Canon Lenses, Get Bonus via AMEX MIR GC

If you need to buy Canon EF and/or EF-S Lenses, Canon has launched a big Buy MORE, Get MORE Lenses. You have to buy two (or more) different lenses to qualify for this offer. For example, getting a 50mm f1.4 and a 85mm f1.8 qualifies, but getting two 50mm f1.4 does NOT.

When you do that, you have to submit the mail-in rebate to Canon [PDF file], and a few weeks later, if all is well, you will receive a prepaid American Express Gift Card. I am not sure exactly how the Bonus amounts are calculated, they give a couple of examples but no formula. Promotion ends 4/29/17.

For more special offers, check the long and winding Canon USA Special Offers page.

The body-only goes for $900, with 18-55 goes for $1050, and with 18-135 goes for $1500. Given pricing, most people will go for the body-only and use existing lenses or buy as needed… This camera is a candidate to be added to the Stock Status Tracker after I look into its situation further…

Refurbished Canon SL1 with 18-55 IS STM and 1-YR warranty for $350

Another “take pictures with” kit among the refurbished Canon DSLRs that might be of interest for a first DSLR, perhaps for kids/teens since it is a bit smaller than the typical DSLRs, is the manufacturer refurbished black Canon SL1 with 18-55 IS STM with a 1-year Canon USA warranty going for $350 with free shipping. You also get a free badget bag and 16GB memory card. The white color scheme is out of stock.

PS: they also have an option with the 70-300mm non-IS non-USM added for $40 more, but how much that makes sense on a smaller DSLR without in-body IS, is up to the buyers to decide 🙂

Refurbished Canon D-Rebel T6i w/18-55 IS STM and BG-E18 Battery Grip and LP-E17 Battery and 1-Year Warranty for $570

Both Canon and Nikon have a large number of APS-C DSLR options in the market, especially if you are also willing to consider open-box and refurbished and used, so deciding which one to get can be more complicated than it appears. One such option adding to the complications is this manufacturer refurbished Canon D-Rebel T6i w/18-55 IS STM bundle at the official Canon USA store for $580 with free shipping that includes two freebies, the Canon BG-E18 Battery Grip and the Battery Pack LP-E17. You can find this offer mentioned in small red print on the product page (screenshot below):

This kit is the only one of the refurbished Canon DSLR kits that have a free battery grip promotion on them that are currently in-stock. The rest are out of stock (and cannot be ordered while they are out of stock). To see them all, use your browser’s in-page search function to search for “battery grip” over there after you increase “Items per page” to 72.

Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L II USM IS + Vanguard 264AB-100 4-Section Aluminum Alloy Alta Pro 264-AT Tripod Legs with SBH-100 QR Ballhead for $2000

The Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L II USM IS is one of the Adorama VIP sales with a bundle of many free small accessories for $2000 BUT if you prefer one big accessory instead of a handful of near-consumables, Adorama has another bundle, also going for $2000 with free shipping, bundled WITH the Vanguard 264AB-100 4-Section Aluminum Alloy Alta Pro 264-AT Tripod Legs with SBH-100 QR Ballhead. The Vanguard goes for $180 on its own. The bundle is “temporarily on backorder” because the tripod is backordered, but you can order it if you like the price/combo.

Refurbished Nikon D3400 w/18-55 DX VR and 70-300 f4.5-6.3 DX non-VR for $400

The sale is back on again, to the Trending eBay deals we go, where the Buydig eBay store is offering the manufacturer refurbished Nikon D3400 two lens kit with the 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G DX VR and the 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED DX (not VR) lenses, along with a 90-day Nikon USA warranty for $400 with free shipping. Limit up to five bundles per customer. This is only available in the black color scheme.

New Canon Two-Lens Bundle coming

Camera manufacturers have “(re)discovered” bundling! Canon has a brand new lens bundle, one prime, one zoom, and they are offered together, the 50mm f1.4 and the 17-40mm f4L, available for pre-order at B&H Photo for $1200. This however is NOT a good price as it stands, because the lenses can be purchased individually $330 (50mm f1.4) and $750 (17-40mm f4L). I suspect the bundle price will be adjusted when it gets closer to release, because $1200 is the list price of each lens before the seasonal “instant savings” promotions.

Open-Box Canon 7D Mark II Body w/1yr warranty for $1350 + S&H

If you are comfortable with open-box camera gear from reliable retailers, B&H Photo is offering the open-box Canon 7D II body only for $1350 plus shipping (around $10, varies slightly by zipcode) with a 1-year warranty by B&H Photo (not Canon USA).

On the other hand, if you prefer new condition with a Canon USA warranty, you can get the 7D II body only for $1500 at B&H Photo with a 4TB Western Digital MyBook Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard drive, a 64GB Sandisk EXTreMe PRO SDXC card, and a Lowepro Hatchback camera bag and 2% promotional rewards (around $30 to be used in future B&H purchases).
