Wedn: ONA Brixton, Genaray, Fotodiox, Zhiyun, LG, Galaxy Chromebook 2, Etc

Once again we are at the halftime show in the week, it’s Wednesday and there’s a new half-a-dozen B&H Photo daily deals good until Wednesday 8/18/21 at 11:59pm ET (or earlier IFF sold-out):

+ ONA Brixton Camera/Laptop Messenger Bag for $169 with FREE Canvas Wax, in three color options [the bags, not the wax LOL]

+ Genaray Ultra-Thin Bicolor 144 SMD LED On-Camera Light for $40

+ FotoDiox Selfie Starlite Stix Vlog Light Kit with Light Stand for $78
+ bonus points: it looks professional-y in an influencer-y kind of way

+ Zhiyun-Tech CRANE 2S Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer for $319

+ LG LCD 32UK550-B 31.5″ 16:9 4K FreeSync LCD Gaming Monitor for $275

+ refurb TP-Link Archer AX21 AX1800 Wireless Dual-Band Gigabit Router for $60

Three Windows laptops ($190 HP Celeron, $500 HP i5, $700 Dell Ryzen 7) headline the Best Buy dailies but that’s not all, there’s a non-afterthought Chromebook, one that is not just made with the leftover parts in the warehouse 😉 It’s the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 (13.3″ QLED 1080p, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, Intel i3, backlit keyboard, microSD slot, Wifi 6, etc) going for $499 in new condition or $364 in open-box condition. This only in the “Fiesta Red” color-scheme. However, as it is often the case with Samsung, it has just one USB-C port on each side, so a USB-C hub (or two) are your new best friends 🙂

As of the time of writing it averages 4.6 out of 5 based on nearly 200 customer reviews at Best Buy with a 91% “recommend to a friend”. They should also have a “recommend to an enemy” option 🙂

Meanwhile in Wootlandia the headliner is an iPhone-a-pa-looza of Grade A refurbished with 90-day Woot warranty with prices ranging from $28 (MagSafe charger) to $480 (lowest priced iPhone in the sale) to $1180…

UPDATE: two items can be found in the Adorama daily deals (expire Thursday 10am ET or earlier if sold out):

+ Explorer AX-LED915 AuraLED 915 Lightweight LED Light Panel for $59

+ K&F Concept Black and Orange Aluminum Tripod Monopod with Center Axle Transverse for $100

2pk 128GB Lexar Professional Silver SDXC for $50 w/FS

Another “feast” of offers, four of them, at the current iteration of the Adorama daily deals running until Wednesday at 10am ET (or earlier if sold out):

+ 2-pack of 128GB Lexar Professional Silver SDXC cards (UHS-I, 1066x, up to 160MB/s) for $50, that’s $25 per card
+ 2-pack of 64GB for $30, that’s $15 per card

+ Apple Siri Remote for Apple TV 4K and 4th Generation Apple TV for $30

+ Pimax Vision 8K PLUS Virtual Reality Headset for $699
+ for the speed-readers out there, it’s Pimax, not Pentax 🙂

+ Ulanzi Smartphone Vlogging Super Outfit Video Kit, Includes Mini Tripod, ST-06 Phone Tripod Mount & VM-Q1 Microphone for $40

Kindle Paperwhite down to $80 (or $70 certified refurbished)

Reading is FUN-da-MENTAL! And if you like to use e-ink e-book-readers for your reading, Amazon has a limited time promotion on their Kindle Paperwhite (8GB storage, waterproof, Ad Supported) going for $80. Or you can buy the “Without Ads” for $100. These are available in four different color schemes even!

Since this is an e-ink device, and not a phone/tablet, the ads are not annoying. You can start with the “Ad Supported” version and if you find you can’t stomach even the lite ads, you can pay Amazon a one time $20 fee to have them removed from a particular device. I personally found some interesting books to read through the ads but everyone’s tolerance to advertising is different.

If you want to save another $10, they have the certified refurbished option for $70. These sold on the Amazon website come with the same 1-year Amazon warranty as the new condition models. Note however that those sold at Woot as used/refurbished, only come with a 90-day warranty.

The one time I bought a certified refurbished Kindle I couldn’t tell the difference between a new and a refurbished. Another time they sent me a warranty-replacement of an early generation Paperwhite, again, I couldn’t tell the difference between new and refurbished.

If you want to sort out the different models, here’s a handy tablet at Wikipedia. The one on sale is the latest Paperwhite model, the Paperwhite 4, launched in November 2018… After that came two newer models in 2019, a new “basic Kindle” and a new “flagship Oasis”…
