Pentax K-50 two lens kit with either $50GC or Flash for $527

There are many Pentax K-50 colors and kits around. At the lowest point, $367 gets you the red K-50 body only with bonus AF-200FG flash and 32SD and 4% promotional rewards (= $14.xx~).

The bang for the buck is the black K-50 two lens kit with the 18-55 WR and 55-200 WR lenses and AF-200FG flash and 4% rewards (= $21~) going for $527 at B&H Photo and Adorama.

However, if you don’t want/need the flash, Adorama has another bundle that substitutes the flash with a $50 Adorama gift certificate for the same $527 total price.

If you prefer other body colors or kit combinations, Adorama has a total of 18 different kits to ponder over. You can try sorting by price (low/high or high/low) or other factors to get a better handle of the many and more options.

New Canon Lens Mail-In Rebates (exp 3/28/15)

A new round of Canon Lens Mail-In Rebates has gone live, covering the period of March 1-28 in 2015. Just like before, the rebates are in the form of a prepaid American Express gift card (not a paper check). You can see participating lenses at Amazon. Each eligible lens has the mail-in rebate offer on its product page. This is a direct link to the PDF form.

Canon 5D Mark III drops to $2500 without rebate [even less with mail-in rebate bundles]

The previous round of Canon mail-in rebates ended on 2/28/15. The camera rebates were not carried forward, but the price of the Canon 5D Mark III body only officially dropped to $2500 (without rebate) at various authorized dealers such as Amazon and Adorama (page down to see all the bundles with various free accessories).

However, if you don’t mind mail-in rebates, and you have use for a Pixma printer and photo paper, you can get a lower after mail-in rebates if you do one of the bundles. At B&H Photo your price is $2250 after a $250 mail-in rebate (prepaid American Express gift card) with the 5D Mark III body only and Pixma Pro 100 and 50pk Canon 13×19″ photo paper and camera bag and 32GB SD and extra Watson battery. Adorama has their own $2250 after $250 MIR bundle with 5D, printer, paper, Adorama camera bag, 64GB SD, extra Canon battery, 1yr New Leaf spills/drops warranty.

Samsung NX3000 w/20-50 for $280 (or w/16-50 for $300)

In a galaxy not so far away, Samsung has a sale on their NX3000 digital cameras, with the price being $280 for the with 20-50mm kit and $300 for the with 16-50mm kit. Panasonic FZ70 for $250 (or $262.50 for non-members)

It’s not just 500-packs of toilet paper. Costco has cameras too and at the moment they are offering the Panasonic FZ70 superzoom for $250 thanks to an instant savings discount ending by 3/29/15. If you are not a Costco member, you can buy it with a 5% surcharge, so in this case $250 + $12.50 = $262.50. The kit also includes a camera bag and 16GB SD card, both Panasonic branded. With free shipping. Sorry, a rotisserie chicken is not included 😉

Costco memberships are $55/year or $110/year for Executive (you earn 2% rewards up to $750 in rewards). Sometimes however they have special new member promotions that get you a handful of household freebies – including the rotisserie chicken – well you get a certificate for it so you can grab it whenever it’s convenient, they won’t force you to eat chicken the moment you sign up 😉

Speaking of Costco, their relationship with American Express as the main credit card of choice at B&M stores will end on 3/31/2016 (next year). So if AMEX exclusivity (for the B&M stores; website is more flexible) was the main reason you didn’t become a member, there might be better payment options.
